This Hotel was Awful

from erinrachel5
This is the response I wrote to the hotel when they asked for feedback.... it really was awful.

Although the location of your hotel makes it worth the stay, I don't know that I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

The beds were EXTREMELY uncomfortable, the blankets were scratchy, the pillows flat.
There were no hangers in the closet, and no closet door even!
We weren't given the option of a safe, or even a do-not-disturb sign to put on our door.

It would be nice if you put individual thermostats in the rooms since the entire hotel was FREEZING the entire time.
Also, the hotel is EXTREMELY loud! The construction outside, although out of your control, woke us up at 5am every morning and shook the ENTIRE hotel. It was SOOOOO annoying we wanted to leave after the first day. The doors, and walls need to be some how soundproofed because you could hear the comings and goings of everyone in the hallway. The door locks were hit or miss and most times we could push our door open even after locking it. I was very disappointed.

It would be one thing if you billed yourself as a budget hotel, or more appropriately, a HOSTEL and I am very upset that we payed even $90 per night at the hotel. I honestly think it was a rip off. You could have charged $20 per person per night and that would have been sufficient.

I have traveled all over the world and stayed in some of the worst accomodations, all kinds of hostels, international hotels, and some of the best resorts. This hotel had to be one of the worst as far as ammenities and service.

I asked the people at the front desk about renting a car, and if they could help make the arrangements and I was directed to go "a few blocks this way, and a few blocks that way and there would be cars" after asking for a suggestion for a restaurant I was told to "Walk down ocean drive". Also, when I asked for a new sheet for the bed I was met with a blank stare and said, "well, housekeeping isn't in the hotel... so I'll see what I can do..." The sheet didn't come until the next day. Also, when arriving at Miami airport I called and asked what busses I could take instead of a taxi to get to the hotel. I was told that it was "too hard" and I should "just take a taxi". I think your front desk staff needs to be educated in customer service and catering to all of your guests needs. It really was unacceptable.

Our Room Looked Like a Crime Scene

from No1ctlvr
We checked in with friendly staff. The lobby was decent enough.
We stayed in a room on the 3rd floor that had cracked walls, exposed wires in the ceiling where an overhead light was supposed to be, a bed, a small table with small lamp a table with 2 cafe chairs. That is it!! no place to put your luggage, no chest, nada. Oh and there was no knob on our faucet so we only had hot water out of our sink. The towels were a dingy white. The bed was even worse the mattress must have been 30 years old. The blinds were broken and the windows were so paper thin that even being on the 3rd floor we felt like we were outside with the folks on the street all night partying. And a bonus. Dudes across the hall came in at 5:30, yes 5:30 smoking cigarettes that wofted under our door and into our room. We were up and checked out of this dump before 8:00.
PS there was one bonus thing they had, a hairdryer!

t even think about it!

We stayed in this hotel 04/27-04/30/07. The hotel service is HORRIBLE and we have never experienced such horrible service before. The rooms were big, but HOT! The air conditioner didn't work at all. I couldn't wait to get back and right a review about this hotel. I’ve been to Miami 4 times and I always stay in South Beach. The Beach Paradise Hotel service is the worst.

Day 1-4: HOT!!!AIR CONDITIOR DID NOT WORK!! We called down to the front desk to report the problem and they said they would be up in 5 min to fix it. Well 30 min went by and they never came. I called back down to the front desk to see what the hold up was.... they once again said they would be up in another 5 min. ???? Yeah we were thinking what is going on. I called back! This time the front desk didn't answer the call. I let the phone ring about 50-60 times. They chose not to answer. They left us no choice but to go down and talk to them. Still they did nothing about it. They barely understood English. We had to raise the broken windows in the room. One window had tape on it, another had toilet paper stuffed in it. We left our room door open for the majority of the time so that we could get some of the air from the hallway. Yes it was a mess.

Day 2: We called down and asked for some clean towels and washclothes, and we were told they were all in the washer. LOL! So we had to use washcloths from the previous day.

The only good thing about this hotel was the location. Ocean Drive is the BOMB!!! If you are looking for a hotel make sure it's on Ocean Drive. JUST DON"T STAY HERE!!!

ve been in nicer rest area bathrooms

There were five of us staying over one night before a trip to the Keys. We thought it would be fun to stay in Miami Beach. We arrived in Miami Beach around 11:30 on a Thursday night and checked in around midnight.

They upgraded our room to an "Oceantfront Suite". When we walked in the room, our friend who booked the room said, "Oh my God, I am so sorry."

Two Queen Beds, one was ok for the first couple, the second one was not on the bed frame and was being held up by an unknown support and was sinking on one side. The bedding had something dried and crusty on it. We also ordered a rollaway bed which looked like an old mattress sat on top of a rusted barbed wire fence.

The shower had hair all over the tile. The was no climate control and
only one vent in the room. The room was musty and gross.

The NOISE from Ocean Drive was so loud all night long that none of us
could sleep.

The front desk clerk was very friendly, which was the ONLY good part of this hotel.

Not only was this hotel absolutely disgusting, but it became one of our longstanding jokes of the weekend.

We will never, EVER return.

Super location

from Picki
This hotel is perfect if you are visiting Miami for the first time, it is right in the midle of everything, it is infront of the beach (beautiful beach) and in ocean dr, where a lot of night clubs, bars, restaurants, stores are. Yes the hotel is old, but who cares, the beds are comfortable, the room is big, the staff is completely friendly and helpfull, it is overall clean, they even give you toothpaste and deodorant, it has enough towels, and the air conditioning can be tooned down if you just move the blades. Stay here!!!! I would totally do again!!!!!!!!!

great location....great staff

from Beachmom5
Older hotel....no frills...chilly rooms....location was great...walk to practically every thing....front desk staff was AWESOME...very accomodating...we arrived 5 hours early and they let us check in...also had a late check out as we waited to board our cruise...I travel alot and had never had such service free of charge....ok place to shower and sleep...

You have hit rock bottom if you stay here!

from Cruiselvr36
We stayed here for the Super Bowl and the hotel was part of a package. It was terrible. It was dirty, my doorknob was loose, and they did not have the key so I could lock my deadbolt to my room. I am very glad my wife was not me as I would have never heard the end of it.

The elevator had a gate and a dirty wood floor! The hotel was built in 1929 and has not been touched since.

Even though the place is located right on the Beach all four walls are very thin. You can hear any sound made from the hallway, outside on the street, or in any rooms beside you. You will get very little sleep if you are not the heaviest of sleepers.

This place was very depressing. I would never stay here on my own dime. I also would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Art deco = old and crappy.

No thank you!

from Pastasauce
Oh my goodness... where do I start. I came to South Beach between two events that I work at so I needed to do a little work. This is a hotel that looks like they tried to renovate it but ran out of money half way through. With that in mind, here is my review of this hotel:

No climate controls
Room and floor is freezing all the time. All you can do is close the vents but it's still freezing. You can open the window slightly but you have to prop it open and there are no screens.

Wall decorations?
They painted these cracks on the wall (yes, im serious) that looks like they had a serious leak problem. I don't know what they were thinking.

Shower didn't work
My shower head was broken and no water came out at all. Went to the front desk and he told me it was a pipe problem but that he would come check it. Didn't come back within an hour (i needed to take a shower!) so I went back and asked him. 15 minutes later he came up and confirmed that it was a broken shower head. Said he would send his 'engineer' in the morning. He told me I should take a bath instead. I mentioned there was no tub stopper so he said he's get me one. It never came so I didn't go out. Stayed in and worked. The next morning, it took one more trip to reception to remind him that my shower didn't work. His 'engineer' never came- he came with a wrench and a different showerhead to install it himself. At least the shower finally worked.

No internet
The website i booked on claimed this hotel had internet. I thought, like every other modern hotel, it would be available in your room. Not the case. I couldn't catch any other wireless signals except in the lobby (which is dark, dingy and noisy) and where I had to work at a bistro table and a wooden chair for 9 hours. Not fun. Not welcoming. FYI, the internet that the hotel cliams it has is a little grey kiosk with a computer built in but it wasn't working either.

Bare furnishings
There is no desk in the room, the bed squeaks when you sit on it, there were np bedskirts, the headboard was loose, no overhead lights, the tv was attached to the top corner of the wall and you had to turn around in bed to look at it, there was no door on the closet and no adjustments to the shutters on the window.

No maid service
How can a modern hotel not have maid service?? I worked 9 hours in the lobby only to find that i didn't even have fresh towels to come back to (I had used mine to clean the filthy floor)

Good luck staying at this hotel. If you're a backpacker then perfect. If you're not, stay elsewhere- Casa Grande, Park Central Hotel etc.

Bonne chance!

If you want cheap and good this is the place.

from Kilgorie
My friend and I needed a room in Miami for 2 nights before our cruise so we decided on South Beach. The hotel prices were ridiculous but I found the Beach Paradise Hotel to be cheaper than the rest in the area.

I'm not one of those reviewers that expects the world when I check into a hotel. This hotel was nice for what it was, a cheap alternative on South Beach. The first thing we noticed was that all of the awnings had ripped off the front of the building leaving it looking a bit run down.

The elevator is one of the old fashioned ones that require you to close the door yourself and it was really small. It could barely fit the 2 of us and our luggage. The room was bigger than I expected and the bathroom was also very big. We were on the side of the building so our view was of the hotel next door. The room was cool and everything worked fine.

The location was good, far enough away from the main action that it wasn't noisy all night but close enough that you could walk to some of the hotspots in a few minutes.

As an FYI, if you like to party then check out The Clevelander. It's one of the better bars on the strip. Beach Paradise was no 5 star hotel but we slept well and our room was big & clean. What more can you ask for at that price in South Beach.

t let the bed bugs bite

from A TripAdvisor Member
So where should I began, number one, you would think that any hotel on ocean drive would be good. Not…… it started off ok, until we unlocked the door to our room, the walls had the worst décor.. I thought it was from water damage, but it was actually a design… the best part of the room was our bathroom. The staff were ok, the guys at least…. Then downstairs they have a place to buy pastry and gelato- at night, honest to god, the roaches come out and eat whatever pastry is left in the showcase…sickening, if they did not run I would post a picture.. I would recommend that you save up your money and move up the block to a nicer establishment. You can’t even control the air in the rooms…
Last but not least… try not to let the pesty bed bugs bite…. Cause there are bed bugs that bit up everyone who stayed in the room. And bit up other guest…

Top Local Tips for Miami Beach

Great value You have to visit wet willis, it has good food (fast food type) and their frozens are suuuper good....

NIghtlife, etc... Nikki Beach, great club right on the beach down on 1st, Lincoln Road is short cab ride or a decent walk if you don't mind great shopping, Fresh on Fifth is a great little sandwich shop on 5th, if you're into the club scene take a cab downtown to Space, you won't regret it.

The News Cafe The News Cafe (on Ocean Drive) has delicious dessert, a pleasantly removed atmosphere, and apparently (we found this out after we ate there) Gianni Versace used to have his morning coffee there!
