from Sir911Calling This Place A Dump is Doing it a Favor!
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat, except it was ALWAYS full. We were forced to valet the car every day of our stay. Our rental car was worse for it. Scratches everywhere when we took it back.
Service... a joke. We arrived late and were met with the attitude that we were annoying the front desk person. That should have been a clue as to how the service would be the rest of the trip.
The room... absolutely disgusting. If it were not Spring Break, we would have looked elsewhere but doubted we could get another room somewhere. The bathroom was so filthy we wore flip flops in the shower.
We were met with a dirty bathmat hanging from our tub. There was hair and gunge everywhere. The room itself was abysmal. The lighting was non existent. You had to squint to see across the room at night even with the light on. Oh and I forgot, the bathroom was so small the door smacked into the toilet everytime you closed it.
RUN... FAR AWAY!
Hated to wave good-bye
from A TripAdvisor MemberA nice hotel for a good getaway
from A TripAdvisor MemberFound the hotel off the tripadvisor web site. Since we were with another couple from Italy , we wanted to stay at Delano, or the National, but was not sure they wanted to spend that kind of money. So, prior to them arriving in the U.S., our friends and us from Cincy, booked the room after we called. Talked with a fine young man, explained what they had to offer. Once we found that this would best fit our needs we called back and booked directly. We got two regular rooms and my wife and I chose a "superior" room, which was nice, but still trying to figure out what we paid $20 extra anight for. Was told by friendly staff that you get a ocean sight room and it is a bigger room compared to most. Well, There was no way to see the ocean, as we looked over to an apartment next door. The rooms were what you make of them. We paid avg. of $150 a night. Walk in closet, wood hangers, safe and two robes. The bath was fine, but had some wear, but expected. All ceramic tile, but good hot water. The room has a modern look, with a flash of europe. The bed is fine but you will keep hitting your shins on the oddly boxed in mattress. I know this is for looks, but I came home with bruises on both my shins. TV,is ok, but hey, what are you doing watching TV in Sobe?? Stocked mini bar on honor system. Sodas and Beers ran $3-4. Wanted to enjoy a Corona, but there was no opener, so put it back and went to the bar. Maybe that is the point of no openers.
Room had a sound machine, and we did enjoy. They provided beach towels as you are 500 feet from the beach access. Had a great time at the bar.
Migul(sp?) was wonderful. So was Patricia. Sandra was very nice at the Main lobby. Bar is small, has about 6 stools and 3 or 4 small tables. A very nice front covered porch/enterance with 2 to 3 over stuffed couches, and tables were available to take drinks out, and watch people go by and enjoy the night. Smoked a fair share of cigars out there.
Spent most of our time out there before hitting town as a warm up..
Went to Delanos for dinner, which is a small walk or $7 cab ride. Went to Jake Stone Crab??? I hope that was the name of the place. Food was ok but good to watch people. Delano was the place to eat, along with people watching and talking. Went to B.E.D., a unique bar, simular to Tabu at the MGM Grand in Vegas. Pretty people, having good time. Nice to come back to hotel after a quick visit to Mango's....Wow!! I am 40 years but there were people of all ages there. Felt more comfortable at Delanos, but what the hell! Took small elevator back to room, and had a good nights sleep. House keeping was good, I always leave a little tip on the pillow, and hope they do a little better job than normal. Check out was flawless, and they called us a cab to airport at 6am.All in all a very nice hotel for the price. Clean, very very friendly, and hip . I would stay at the Delano next time, but for the price here, you get a great value.
t Do It!!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberNot bad
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe second room they gave us was on the smoking floor, which I had specifically not requested. The third room was okay but had two double beds (we were staying there as a couple) and it was at the front of the hotel, which was very noisy at night with racing engines, screeching brakes and drunk revellers. The room was small -- but most Miami Beach hotel rooms are small, folks. There were no bathrobes, which the website promised, and the minibar did not contain everything that was on the inventory list. The continental breakfast was a nice added value -- yogurt, granola bars, cereals, fruit salad, pastries, bagels, coffee and juices. It was also nice to have free internet access in the lobby and we weren't charged for the local calls we made in the room.
Overall, I would recommend the Wave Hotel if you're not looking for luxury. The staff is a bit grumpy but we didn't have to have too much interaction with them.
Funky and Great Locatin
from A TripAdvisor MemberHorrible
from A TripAdvisor MemberWell the next morning when the car came back it had a 150 dollar ticket on it! I handed it right to the front desk and they said NO PROBLEM we'll take care of it. Well a few months later back in NY we got a letter in the mail that we still owed this money. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager who was rude. and he told me that he is sorry but he cant help me, I had the name of the girl at the counter that told me not to worry and everything and he said well she shouldnt have and she made a mistake so I had to pay the consequences for their obviously un-educated staff. Going to Miami again in Jan and would never stay there again.

from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Miami
Taverna Opa I highly suggest Taverna Opa on Ocean near Nicki Beach. It is a greek restaurant with belly dancing and entertainment. We went there for my girlfriends birthday and had a great time. Don't be afraid to get up and dance on the table as you wont be the only one doing it!
Dolphin Swin One of the best experiences: to swin with dolphins at Dolphin Cove (www.dolphinscove.com) in Key Largo. It worth every penny!
South Beach is for grown ups I really don't understand why people bring kids to South Beach. There isn't anything for children to do. SoBe is about the beach, shopping, and partying. Take the kids to Orlando or another beach. Leave one place for the grown ups please!
