Cool, Clean and Relaxing

from A TripAdvisor MemberCool, cheap but loud
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe main pitfall was the fact that it was soooo loud in the room during the mornings. They are constructing the Setai hotel across the street and they start working really early. In addition, the walls are very thin so you can practically here people breathing in the rooms next to you and in the hallway. However, for the price, location, decor and vibe you can't beat the place for $90 a night....
Great place!
from LittleBritainpost-modern on a budget
from A TripAdvisor MemberDetails: showers are trendy-the "euro" style showerheads are nice and gentle, no place for bathroom toiletries but a thin mirror lining the width of bathroom, no dressers so your stuff will be displayed on the Ikea-like couch, free condoms and soap, ample lighting, retro phones, refrigerator which is handy.
We got in almost every night at 4:00 a.m. or later, and we still enjoyed the music from Mynt and Tommy Lee's Roc Bar for another hour or so. May want to consider going to breakfast after clubbing in order to avoid the music from the two aforementioned lounges, which are DIRECTLY connected to the building. No, you won't get into these places unless you A. are Paris Hilton, or B. can walk in with her. Guarding the door are men dressed in black with the clipboards and they did NOT find it humorous that I was snapping photos of them.
Anyway, back to topic at hand. Hotel provides very cool complimentary magazines that are about celebs, models, and the Miami Beach party scene. We had some minor problems with the lights, and that was fixed immediately. A/C worked great. No dressers, so you can spread out all of your fashionable attire on the couch and then choose your hip outfit for the day/evening. Guy at front desk attempted to charge my credit card for 1200.00, and of course the charge was rejected. Eventually, he was able to charge it for 800.00. He was trying to do the old hotel trick of "blocking" a certain amount on a customer's card, but for a six night stay, which is 99 per night, he was trying to "block" double that amount. After realizing that we're not related to Donald Trump, he and I negotiated a mutually acceptable amount. I could understand "blocking" for double the amount if Townhouse was a hotel with a day spa, cabana rental, three restaurants, 24-hour room service, etc...but it is a basic hotel with one very expensive restaurant that is only open for a few hours every evening.
I'd recommend the hotel if you're going to be out every night, and just need a good place to crash for a few hours during the morning/early afternoon. Otherwise, pass it up or you'll be frustrated at lack of in room coffee machine, lack of dressers, abundance of noise from two clubs in building every night from 11p-6a. If you're a post-modern, trendy person on a budget, you'll LOVE this place. Good luck on your trip to Miami. If you've seen Sexy Beast, then you'll be prepared for Miami Beach. Here, even the 60 year-olds look good!
Fun, cool hotel, but with pretty basic rooms
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe rooftop was the highlight of the hotel for us, it was very fun. It was uncrowded during the daytime unlike most of the larger hotels, and at night it was a fun party Wednesday-Saturday nights.
The room was clean but extremely basic. We did like the mini fridge. There was no construction noise at all. Wireless internet is available for $9.95 per day. We were there for 7 nights the week of August 15th, and the fire alarm was set off during our last two nights around 2 and 4am, which was irritating. There is some noise from the rooftop as well during certain nights of the week.
The lobby was cool, and breakfast was simple but really good. Muffins, bagels, baquettes, hardboiled eggs and croissants.
The sushi downstairs was very good, and we loved the atmosphere but the service was poor, although that is common in South Beach.
Good Deal
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe good:
Great location, barely off the beach, and you don't have to cross any roads to get to the beach. Its problably 300 yards from the public area for the beach. It is a great price ($80/night). The decor eventually grows on you. Breakfast was nice to have, but nothing outstanding. The roof area and its waterbeds are pretty cool. The shower is large.
The bad:
There was some construction noise in the early morning, and some party noise late at night. The view out our window was of the construction. The walk to the beach is through the construction. The room isn't as inviting or chic as it looks in pictures. It looks a bit cheaper in person, and the cold hard floors are a big negative.
The UGLY:
The fire alarm went off on both of our last 2 nights around 2-4am. The front desk, when called, merely said "it's a false alarm, don't worry about it". This is slightly frightening to me.
Other noteworthy info:
You will probably pay valet parking at $20/night, but it is unlimited exit/entry, not bad.
They include a condom in the kit that includes shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. Parents of younger children might want to be aware of this.
Definitely a hip hotel...
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe had no disturbances from building works or noisy guests and the staff were more than helpful so ignore all the bad reviews below. Definitely a great place to stay if you are wanting a cheap, funky hotel on South Beach.
Would def. stay here again!
from A TripAdvisor MemberBreakfast is also included!

Top Local Tips for Miami
Attention Shoe Lovers! Stop by Morgan Miller just off Lincoln on Euclid for custom made sandals! First, you pick a bottom (cork wedge, lacquered heel, etc.), then you pick a strap (or straps) made of anything from faux rainbow Python to tooled leather; and then you can pick a little bling (optional) to decorate the front. Prices range from under $100 for a modest stained wood heal with leather to upwards of $400 for the jazziest versions. It's fun and no will have the same pair as you! Plus, it's a great way to coordinate a hard-to-match outfit. Enjoy!
Eating & Drinking Go to Lincoln Rd.. theres soo many palces to shop, eat and drink! You just walk down the side walk and on both sides of you there are places to choose from. At night its nice, you can sit outside and there are candles on the tables, most of the places are really nice and you can find whatever you are looking for. The Sushi place is very fun to hangout and eat and drink at.. We went to Touch and it was really nice and romantic. Except our waitress was a little rude i think she was angry we were just drinking.. Be careful though, they charge you 8.00 for water which we didnt know untill we got the bill. But it was a nice & romantic place to go. Later we took at cab to Tantra for dinner and it was a very nice place. We went on a Thursday night, at 8:30 and it was only us and 3 other couples. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was nice. It wasnt as cool as I was expecting, but it was worth the money and it was a great romantic place for dinner...
Public Transport Public transport is good. The S and C buses can take you virtually everywhere you would want to go
