I will stay again!

from A TripAdvisor Member
A hundred yards of the main strip(Ocean Drive), but yet quite and peaceful, private beach access, Great comfortable rooms, You have to call out for room service after 6:00pm but they are pretty fast and pretty good, catered by a nearby restuarant. Friendly staff, and speaking of staff, go see Sarah the bartender, she is the best, she is a miami native so she can give you the scoop just about anything. And tell her Vince&Linda sent you and she will make you a very special drink......

I will stay again, because of the short walk to the beach, restaurant, bars and all the nicest clubs.

Pretty Cool Place!!

from DFGA
I was very satisfied with our overall trip. This was my second time to south beach and I wasn't sure where to stay. This place has an awesome location!! It is right on ocean drive, on the beach and you can walk to all the hot clubs and restaurants. It is fairly small, but the bellman was awesome and he helped out whenever we needed him. We went on memorial day weekend and got a good price at this place. Hot chicks ran the front desk, and you can't go wrong there! I would definitely walk down to first street and on Sunday night go to club Nikki beach. This is the place!! One thing was it was hip-hop weekend and that wasnt our scene, but it was still cool. Don't hesitiate to stay here!!

luv it

I am really confussed with what people are saying... if you go at a time where there is a rack of people in south beach (young kids who party all the time) things are going to be different. This goes for any hotel....I should know. I have been to Delano's and Catalina's....which are both different types of hotels...luxury and cheap. I went when it was party time and poor workers...Any how, My girlfriends and I go to South Beach every year and stay at different hotels...whe we picked this place, we were really shocked. It was nice and the service was amazing. Everything was there when you needed it. Our room was city view with the crazy condo next to us...but we were not worry about that...we were happy about the location!!! We really enjoyed the fact that the beach was right there... you had your own entrance (which you need your card to come in and out) once at the beach the bar lady would come out and bring the drinks that you orderd. We felt relax!!!! All I am saying is....you go to south beach to have fun and not be an old maid. If you have a bad experience...they do have questionaires for you to fill out. My time was great and we are going back there this year!!!
I can't wait!!! Positive thoughts will have great endings!!!

Wish we could have stayed longer

We spent the final night of our vacation at the Savoy. After a week-long Caribbean cruise, we went directly to the hotel in the morning. Even though check-in wasn't until three, we took advantage of the quiet pool area which after a week of people all around was a delight. Until a family with 2 uncontrolled, screaming children arrived and temporarily spoiled our serenity. (No fault of the hotel, but parents, stick to the Holiday Inn, and realize that there is no reason to drag your kids to "luxury" hotels.) We had lunch at the on-site restaurant on the patio, which was mediocre. We were the only ones there, and the food took forever and the staff could have cared less.
Pass on that experience! They adhere to that 3:00 check-in time, but we didn't mind since the weather was pleasant, and they stored our luggage in a locked, secure storage bin. The room was spacious, with a large separate master bedroom suite. The funiture was comfy and amenties adequate, although just one robe hung in the closet. The shower allowed water to flow over the sides and the plush towels came in handy to sop up the mess. Otherwise, the beach is out the back gate, all of the South Beach excitement, located within a few blocks, the pool area breathtaking, the front desk service, average, the food, forgettable.
We would stay there again!

Good Hotel IF you stay in the right building...

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this hotel in November. It was great for the most part.
The one thing that we noticed is that the guest who stayed in the building where the front desk was WERE dissapointed. We stayed in the building where the front desk was NOT located. We had a beautiful suite with a marble bath, cedar closet, and nice living area with refridgerator. The pool and access to the beach was a plus. We really enjoyed that part of our stay. NOW for the BAD part. There was no ice machine. You had to call down for ice so that meant you had to tip.
There was also a problem with leaving the correct number of wash cloths and towels in the room it was only 2 of us. Considering that we brought our own towels and wash cloths, just in case, we were fine.

Nice place

Late review--Just found this site

from jen_h_fl
I stayed at the Savoy this past summer, and had I known about this web site, I would have reconsidered. I guess because I had a $99 a night deal, I shouldn't have expected opulence, but really. I was in Room 206 (not in the original bldg) with a "city" view--translation: ugly condo bldg view. We did not have a balcony/terrace, the furniture was ragged, and we only had one lumpy queen bed. The sinked dripped all night and the shower backed up completely every time you turned it on. In fact, upon check in, the maintenance man was leaving the shower area with a plunger in his hand. Air conditioning also quit working. Skip breakfast, or get there early before all the other moochers-- in my case, the people who made off with plates of food and fruit. Hotel staff was very, very snooty and not helpful.

I did see other rooms, and if you decide to stay here, then pay the money for a nicer room--the grounds are very charming and the beach access is worth it, as well as the location of the hotel. Having a suite is very nice, but I would not recommend bringing small children here, which is a shame.

Great time at the Savoy

from A TripAdvisor Member
We were at the Savoy for a few days, checking out yesterday to return home. The time was great. The suite was excellent with the separate spaces for the bedroom, the living/dining area and the kitchen. The only hotel bed we have stayed in that was as comfortable was at Rigi-Kulm in Switzerland. The room and the whole hotel was very clean and quiet, with two nice pools, attractive gardens and two decks overlooking the beach. The attendent on the beach was available for chairs, umbrellas, etc. and being just a three story hotel, you didn't feel like you were in a sea of chairs because of the great number of people. The continental breakfast was fine. The only thing we would recommend is adding some sort of whirlpool. You are away from the noise of South Beach but just a block from where the restaurants and shopping start, with a good deli for sandwiches just diagonally across the street.

Good Times Had By All!

My friends and I just returned from another fabulous trip to Miami's South Beach. We were a little worried about staying at The Savoy after reading all of the negative reviews. I have to say "ITS NOT THAT BAD".

Our room was amazing, we had a full kitchen, two rooms (1 bedroom & 1 sitting room), two balconies, a big bathroom, and the decor was hip art deco style. Yes it's true that you have to order ice from the bell man, but big deal, he brings the ice to you, isn't that a good thing? Just remember to tip! The staff were generally friendly, especially the late night doormen who enjoyed my friend "kitty". There is a $5 resort fee, but who cares it's only $5, and for comfort who wouldn't pay that.

The Savoy is close to all the bars and restaurants on the strip. Try out the 5th Street Deli across the street, it was really good! Avoid the TGI Friday's because "kitty" says so, it's a little over priced for what you get. The Grill Fish is the best restaurant, and the Big Pink delivery wasn't a bad alternative if you want to order in.

The Savoy's garden/pool area is a great place to relax during the day.
The pool is filled with interesting people from all over the world taking in the sun and a piece of Miami's beauty. Who knew my friend "frick" would find love by that very pool with a man named George while my other friend "frack" was touching up on her German and Japanese language skills. The drinks by the pool are mixed well just ask my friend "kitty", after a few she thought it was 2:75 in the morning. The Pina Colada's were always a good choice.

One last shout out to the nice American boys we met, thanks for drinking all of our Vodka!

Have fun in Miami, it's a great place to party!

The T.O. rocks!
