Bal Harbour shopping tip Bring a "fat wallet" if you plan on shopping in Bal Harbour.

May be worth it to rent a car $42 cab fare from airport to hotel, $25 cab fare from hotel to South Beach area makes us wish we had rented a car for our trip to Bal Harbour. There doesn't seem to be much of a wait for cabs; there were always 2-3 waiting in the parking lot of the Bal Harbour Shops, easy to hail one on A1A, and we waited about 5 minutes for one to arrive at our hotel. Found a few cabbies to be rude, one sat at the gate to the Bal Harbour Shops parking lot and chatted with the attendant to the point of adding 50 cents to the meter and we had to push him to leave and get us to our destination. However for every jerk of a cabbie there was a sweet and courteous one that acted as a tour guide to the town.
