This can't be the Ritz, must be more like a Best Western. The pool staff was so unattentive, guest services has had no training, this isn't how I remembered it. Stay at the Lowes next time.

Everything was wonderful! Although we only stayed for the weekend but the service was so great we felt so well rested it seemed we spent a whole week there. Everything from the service, the comfortable beds, the bvlgari soap, shampoo and conditioner, the restaurants, to the pool...just amazing! Planning our next stay this year again!

We just got back from the ritz and have to say I think its the top hotel on South Beach. Wonderful, central location near the Lincoln Road restys. Forget the crappy rooms and attitude of the Shore Club and Delano! Hang out there during the day if you'd like too rub noises with Tara Reid or one of Brittney's back-up dancers, but the Ritz is much better quality. The ritz has the standard large (for Miami) and luxurious rooms with huge marble bathrooms. All of the staff was attentive and polite and helpful with whatever we needed. There wasn't as much of a "scene" here as compared with the D or S.C., but I didn't see too many loud toddlers running around either. Its directly on the beach, and they have men to set up loungers and umbrellas for you upon arrival. All in all, I couldn't ask for anything else.
Most disappointing Ritz stay ever

We have stayed at over 12 Ritz-Carlton hotels and this was the most disappointing of them all in terms of service. While the property was beautiful and immaculately clean, the service was substandard: No bellman opened our car door upon arrival for 5 minutes; no one approached us to assist us with unloading or bringing our bags upstairs upon check-in; check-in took 15 minutes with 2 clerks serving 12 guests. Pool service for food or towels was invisible for 20 minutes. Although we had requested firm pillows before check-in, none materialized. We also left our cell phone charger in the room; I called their security three times to see if they located it, and nobody has yet responded (2 weeks later).
This hotel is undoubtedly the most luxurious along the South Beach corridor, but it isn't worthy of being a Ritz-Carlton. It's just like a Delano or Shore Club masquerading as a Ritz.

My 8 girlfriends and I spent a long weekend at the Ritz Carlton South Beach. We had the best time and the rooms were very nice. We loved the atmosphere and the staff was extremely friendly. The location was great and went spent every day by the nice pool and beautiful beach. The staff was incredible and the service was excellent. We will go back!
Great honeymoon stay

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton South Beach for a few nights before and after our trip down to Key West. We had a great experience. First of all, they have the best beds in the world - we haven't slept that well in ages (although I don't think you are supposed to sleep in South Beach!). The service we received from everyone was great - valet, front desk, concierge, wait staff. Everyone was very helpful and super nice, we didn't get any attitude that you might expect from some of the other trendy hotels in the area. Since they knew it was our honeymoon they sent a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room about 10 minutes after we arrived. On the first night there, we took nap after swimming and didn't wake up until 10 p.m. and were afraid we couldn't find a nice place to eat that late. We called down to the concierge and he made a reservation at Smith & Wollensky for us and bought us our first round of drinks there. When we returned from Key West they upgraded us to an ocean/pool view room with a balcony because all their smoking rooms were full and I mentioned that my husband would want to smoke the cigars he bought in Key West. Their beach is beautiful. They have nice comfy chairs, although you have to pay $15 for an umbrella. Check out Expedia for deals here, we got our room for $30 less than the price on the Ritz Carlton website.
Not what we expected

Given it was the July 4th weekend, a hotel of this caliber should still deliver service way above par. It’s the small things that make a 5 star hotel what it is. Having spent a few days on the west coast, my girlfriend and I arrived a bit early (1pm) on Sunday to check in. We have had no problems checking-in early at other Ritz Carltons but given the holiday it’s understandable that our room wasn’t ready by 1:00 pm. I gave the front desk my cell phone number to call when our room was ready and we went to eat lunch at La Sandwicherie on 14th. They have great sandwiches with cool-mist sprays to keep it comfortable eating outside. Then we headed to the DiLido Beach Club at the Ritz for drinks. It has a nice view of the beach and the bartender was great. We then walked down Lincoln Road to check out the shops. By 400 pm we still hadn’t received a phone call about our room. When we got back to the hotel to check-in at 445pm their only reason for no phone call was, “We are very busy.”
Our room was on the 11th floor and was very nice and spacious. The Ritz Carlton has the best beds. Andrew, the Concierge, recommended some restaurants but we heard Nobu down here was better than the one in City so decided to go there. It was awesome. We went to the Shore Club for some pre-dinner drinks and later found ourselves at Mynt. For a nightcap we decided to go to the hotel bar by the pool. It wasn’t crowded but it seemed like it since the bartender had no idea what he was doing. We must have waited 15 minutes for a drink while seated at the bar.
The following morning I wanted to play golf at Crandon but Andrew, the concierge wasn’t able to get me a tee time. He left a couple of messages with later tee times available. He got me one for later in the afternoon so with the morning free, I went to the beach with my girlfriend. We got chaises right in front row with an umbrella ($15 fee). We asked for towels but the excuse they gave us was they were having problems with the laundry service. An hour and a half later we finally got towels. BTW, the hotel’s beach is right next to the public access, so it can get a bit crowded.
For lunch we went to the Americana, which is the restaurant by the pool. Hardly busy but we waited 20 mins for someone to take our order. After lunch we decided to sit by the pool. They found us 2 seats with an umbrella right away. They have a nice sized pool but it can get very crowded. Not sure if there is a waiter down on the beach but I’m sure there’s one by the pool, however we never saw him. After an hour or so by the pool I went up to the room to change for golf. On my way I passed the waiter by the pool and asked him nicely while pointing to my girlfriend, “Do you see the young lady in the stripped bikini?” She waves at us. “Can you please take her drink order.” He says, “Of course.” Guess what, he never came. She had to go to the bar and get her drink herself.
For dinner we ate at Quinn’s. We highly recommend it. It’s on Ocean and has a great view to watch people.
The following morning we wanted to eat outside of the hotel for brunch. We asked the concierge on duty to recommend a place on Lincoln. We get to the restaurant and find out that they don’t serve breakfast/brunch. After eating at Van Dyke’s we head back to the pool to never see the waiter again and finally check out at 1 pm even after asking for a later check out.
Having spent time at the Ritz Carlton Naples and other locations, Ritz Carlton South Beach doesn’t come close to the quality we’ve experienced in the past. With the entrance on the side street it just doesn’t have the feel of “luxury.” From talking to and noticing other guests with puzzled looks on their faces we weren’t the only ones who received questionable service. We know they just opened last year but that’s a weak excuse. On the bright side-we had great valet service ($25/night), a big room with a great bed, location of the hotel and Andrew, the concierge.

Great weekend at Ritz Carlton

Stayed at RC over Father's Day weekend. We were 2 families with toddlers. Overall, hotel did a great job. Very child friendly while still keeping its edge of south beach hipness. Had a club level suite which was great for getting a quick snack for the little ones without having to sit in a restaurant. Well worth the small additional $'s if you can do it. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool staff was great at getting us chairs, umbrellas and floats very promptly on a busy day. Food and service was mediocre at best in restaurant during lunch (very slow service in empty dining room) but the Sunday brunch was spectacular. Parking is outrageous ($25./day) as is renting a beach cabana and food/bev prices are very expensive. One other complaint--elevators are horribly SLOW! Still, a beautiful hotel in a great area. Would choose this hotel over Delano, Loew's or Tides whether we were going with children or ourselves.
RC South Beach

Took my wife and two infants to RC South Beach for Mother's Day 2004. Everything handled beautifully from limo waiting at the hotel to the doorman, Eduardo, who took care of us. Pool is so nice, we never went to the beach. (Babies are scared of waves.) First night ate at the restaurant which is virtually on the beach.
Room was nice, but nothing special for this class. Two room-suite. Maid service didn't come until late one day.
Room service choices are limited and unimaginative.
Hotel public areas are well done. Our main focus was the pool and it was perfect. Highly recommended, particularly with its location near so many good restaurants.

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect

My husband and I just returned from a week at the South Beach Ritz-Carlton and our experience was just wonderful. (And I would call us experienced travelers with high expectations.) We used Trip Advisor for our research and looked at the Delano, Raleigh, and the Tides. After drinks at the Delano, and chatting with a woman who transferred from the Tides, I think we made the right choice. The service at the RC was impeccable. We were upgraded to an immaculate room off the pool and waiting for us were five extra pillows we had requested (I’m six + months pregnant). Everyone learned our names by day two and we were greeted coming and going (even given a ride in the RC SUV to a local restaurant one evening.)
While it is true there are only a couple of restaurants in the hotel, there are so many wonderful restaurants in South Beach there doesn’t really need to be. The concierge was gracious and accommodating and all of the restaurants he recommended were top notch in food and service. (My husband and I had breakfast everyday by the pool, room service on our patio twice and had lunch brought to us one day on the beach.) FYI - the restaurants we visited were Barton Gs, Touch, Prime 112 and Honoria Romana where we ate hand made spaghetti while being serenaded by handsome Italian waiters. We were able to review the menus in advance at the front desk, and the concierge made our reservations for us. (He even called one place to make sure we got a good table and were having fun!!)
My husband worked out everyday and found the facilities to be fine. It was the week before Memorial Day weekend so quiet at first (which is just what we wanted.) While family friendly, I didn’t find there to be noisy kids everywhere and there was plenty for them to do in the pool and at the beach where there was even a “kids area” with umbrellas and toys.
I have noticed that in many of the Trip Advisor reviews people focus on the negative or on things that the hotel may or may not be able to control. If you are looking for that here, Ok. No one opened the door for us when we first arrived, my husband thought the breakfast sausages weren’t “sausagey enough,” the beach guys paid more attention to two pretty topless girls than to me on day 2 (Not that I blame them), and a feather from the feather bed poked me while I was sleeping one night (I was able to pull it out myself). Honestly, if they were off to a slow start due to being new, it appears they have worked out the kinks. I felt like such a queen and it was a perfect little getaway and a very special treat before our baby is born. I recommend highly and would go back in a heartbeat.

A Disappointing Experience

This was not the typical Ritz Carlton Stay. I have not experienced this type of poor service in some time. We scheduled Spa Services via their internet reservation site, and upon arriving at the hotel they had no spa services booked for us, and offered no solution aside from booking on some other day. It took a day and a half to get toliet paper delivered to the room. The waiters and towel set ups were slow and unattentive. 3 hours for a cocktail, and you had to go over to the towel room and interupt their casual conversations to request service. Their dining facilities are not as advertised. They say they have 5/6 eateries, not so. Only 1 dinner spot, 1 lunch spot. The hotel alarms went off twice in 3 days, both in the AM. The fire alarm in out bedroom needed new batteries so it beeped for a day and half until they managed to get someone in their. Finally upon talking to Guest Services Janna, She had little to offer but an apology and a manicure. I say if you cant deliver Ritz business like the rest of the hotels dicount your rooms until you can.

The Service was excellent and room was immaculate and beautiful. Stayed on the club level and the additional ammenities were top notch and the food was impeccable. Excellent, customer-focused staff. Would highly recommend it and I will definitely go back.
Top Local Tips for Miami
S. Beach great dining at Ola We went to Blue Door at Delano. We went to China Grill. Do not go. Do not pay $200. Instead, try Ola right near Collins Ave and pedestrian mall. Amazing Latino food, drinks, and staff. We are picky and we would have gladly eaten there every night of our stay. Try ceviche which is their specialty. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Not much for kids at south beach Not much to do at South Beach for young kid, also not particularly appropriate for them.
Sunday Brunch IF you are fortunate enough to be in South Beach on a Sunday, the Sunday Bruch at Nemo's is just amazing. We have been to some fabulous brunches all over, the best up to this point being the Hyatt Regency on Kauai. But this little nook of a place had the most fabulous spread and at a shockingly reasonable price ! It's a must do for me anytime I find myself back in town again !
