Terrible Customer Service!!
I have stayed at the Mayfair for years, however, the staff has had a turnover, it seems, and the customer service was horrible! All the way from attempting to make a reservation (which should have been my first clue) --I requested a certain room number and the representative said, "to take a certain room request would require me to have to go out of my way." Enough said. Definitely do NOT recommend!

NOISE!!!
The noise from the street was unbearable. Rooms are fine and service is adequate. Did not seem like a 4 star property to me. I repeat, the noise from the street was terrible. We had people in 8 rooms and everyone complained about the outside noise and lack of noise proofing in the rooms.

Almost there
I stayed for 5 days during the first week of January 2006. The renovation to a full fledged Kimpton hotel is almost complete. The restaurant and bar are now open, as is the exercise facility and spa. Only thing left is some final room updates and finishing the pool on the roof and the second bank of elevators, as far as I can tell. The bottom line: very high end in room appointments, staff service, and, especially, the fine restaurant, Ginger Grove. I plan on making this my perpetual Miami/Coconut Grove hotel.

Dated & unsanitary
Room was unsanitary, food debris under furniture, furniture and carpet was worn and stained with cigarette burns in a non-smoking room. Very poor (low) water pressure in shower. Complimentary internet service in room was not working. Staff was so-so. Unwilling or unable to correct problems. Will not stay at this hotel in future unless property is refurbished.
