t wait to go back !
from A TripAdvisor MemberNice Hotel, Nice View, but far from perfect
from sschafe48170Check-In-Beautifully decorated Lobby, but had to wait in line to check in. Not all Check in stations appeared to be staffed despite it being early evening (6:00pm). Reservation was only for one night and I was told on the phone that extension would be no problem, just ask at check-in. Front desk clerk almost laughed when I inquired (probably would have stayed elsewhere if aware I had to move). First Room was smoking despite reservation (I checked my confirmation just to be sure). After trudging up to the room and back down, was given upgrade to a business class room. Other than a balcony, not sure what the upgrade was.
Room-Once again beautifully decorated. After I settled in, I began to realize all the junk for sale. Not just the mini-bar, but also skin care products, extra bottles of water, robes, etc. Felt like I was in an upscale mini-mart. Beds were very comfortable and lots of big pillows, which I like.
Grounds-Once again beautiful. Hot tub and pool were nice for refreshing dip after a long day of travelling. Did appear to be at least one hooker at the hot-tub (beautiful woman arrived, she sat down on edge of hot tub, a gentleman approached her, a few low words, and next thing you know they are walking off together).
Meeting facilities - Great meeting facilites, had over 1000 attendees at conference and except during receptions never felt crowded. Snacks at breaks were good , as was continental breakfast.
Check-out - In room, no problems, mail receipt.
Overall. For the money, I am not sure that this hotel is worth it. Room was very nice, but not exceptional for the $250.00 charges. I moved to a suite in a boutique hotel for $117.00. Granted the second hotel was not as well manicured or have the staff, but I used the $$ I saved for a great dinner.
loved loews
from A TripAdvisor MemberBeautiful Hotel/Room Very yummy food
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel is amazing. I had a room that looked over the strip (one of the large room on the circle). The neon lights at night are beautiful.
However, you can hear the traffic but you shouldn't be in your room anyway. You should be out enjoying the night life. I am a very picky travel when it comes to hotels and service. I travel every week. I found the service to above average and the hotel excellent. The pool is a slice of heaven. I recommend Lowes and I am planning a trip back!!!
Beware of the Valet Service
from A TripAdvisor MemberOther problems were that there was a terrible smell in the hallway outside my room for the entire stay. It smelled like mildew. The hotel staff was trying to do somehting about it but it was there the entire 5 days. On Friday night the people coming back from a night of partying were so loud that I was awake form midnight to 4:30 A.M.
Best service
from JurneeThe hotel has a great look, with marble floors, art deco furniture in the lobby and a wonderful palm lined path to the pool. The staff - esp.
at reception is wonderfully friendly and helpful, with the concierge printing out detailed instructions at your request to go to any restaurants or attractions you want. The kids got a special Loews gift bag with Frisbees and water bottles which was nice. The rooms themselves are nothing special and look like most smallish hotel rooms.
TV has lots of channels (this seems to matter to the teens). There are only 2 double beds per room so sleeping is a touch tight when sharing - though the staff brings as many extra towels and blankets as you want.
The pool is OK, though the deck area can get crowded but the beach is great - safe and clean. The chairs on the beach cost $10 and the parking is $21 a day, though there's a lot charging $16 per day practically across from the hotel. The food is pricey but then it's pricey most places on Miami Beach. Since our flight only left at 5pm they were very good about allowing a late check-out. I'd stay again but not at the full price of $250 per night.
picked a bad time, but still had great stay....
from MARK069It was chaotic. Later in the week, there was also a Budweiser and Miller Lite convention so the pool area and bar was absolutely packed.
Otherwise, everything was fine. The rooms were ok - after we'd asked to be moved from the St Morritz building and back to the main building, expecting a balcony and sea view. Great views of the pool area and beach. Hotel was nicely and powerfully air-conditioned.
Breakfast and luches were good, and the staff were polite, (more efficient than friendly). Have to mention the concierge staff that called for our taxi each evening - they were incredibly polite and courteous - wishing you a pleasant evening and always welcoming you back on your return. A great first impression, and a credit to the hotel.
The hotel pool area when not crowded was very pleasant, with a fabulous jacuzzi that was hardly ever used.
Never ate dinner at the hotel - tried different restaurants each time.
Food good, except for one occasion, but expensive. Obviously depends on the choice of restaurant.
The shopping was good too with an Armani Exchange 5 minutes cab ride away. Not our usual type of holiday choice - we normally go for something quieter and 'prettier' - but will definitely come again. All in all, a great time. Tempted to try the Delano next time which is a bit more expensive.
Five Star Nightmare
from creekkLoews does love kids
from A TripAdvisor MemberUnfortunetly, the maid service was not up to par with the rest of the hotel, which was beautiful. The lobby, pool, bar, restaurant and grounds were immaculate. Take a quick tour around. It is worth it.
Whoever said to pool is small must be comparing it to Las Vegas pools.
Otherwise, it is shaped like a 3 leaf clover with the longest length being over 150 feet. There is a zero barrier entry at one end that is great for the kids to play in. The rest of the pool provides ample space for fun. Just remember that you are in a crowded hotel pool. The drink and water prices are steep. I recomend going to the 24 hour Walgreens down the block and buying water for about a quater the price.
There were plenty of people bringing full ice buckets with some bottled water in them. Also, the liquor is expensive. $10 plus and automatic 18% tip for a Pina Colata. I do like the waiter service to your poolside lounge chair, but I would have a drink (or two) in the room and then nurse the one (or two) you buy poolside. The beach is great.
They give you towels, so don't worry about packing any. The beach is very wide. The sand closest to the hotel is packed hard, but nearer the ocean, it gets soft. On a hot summer day the walk can feel long. But a visit to the beach is obligatory. Ask somebody at the pool cabana about the water conditions. Usually they will know if the waves are too big to have fun. But back to the pool. The deck is small, and the chairs and umbrellas get taken up quickly. They will always put out more. The worst that can happen is that you get stuck on one of the lawns. It has golf course grass, so that is a real treat for a Floridian who considers his lawn one giant weed. It is really nice to walk on with bare feet. The hotel has a kids club, but I never used it. I planned on it, but there were a lot of kids there durring our visit, so playmates were copius. The pool attendents did say that normally, there were fewer kids. I did look at the kids club. It was a clean, but small room with many activities. I think the kids who participated stayed outside most of the time, so the small room was only for rainy days. I looks like a couple of half-days would be enjoyed by any child. I never dined at the hotel. I prefered breakfast at Jerrys across the street. It is one block away, has table service and a good breakfast for 6-8 dollars.
Even less if you want something simple. For dinner, I went to Ocean Drive (BY TAXI!) or walked to the Lincoln Road Mall. Ocean Drive has some really great, but still overpriced restaurant. But it is right on the beach. At least one trip has to be made there. If you only have adults with you, that is the place to be after 10. Start with a drink at The Clevelander, and go on from there. The Lincoln Road Mall is nicer if you have children with you. Try Next, it has a big enough menu to make everybody happy, and amazing deserts. Don't forget that they charge $21 a night to park your car. But they will bring it around for you and have it waiting if you call ahead. The Bell Stand, Concierge and check in staff were all great. My room had the City View, still nice. We hardly spent anytime in the room, so the view didn't matter to me. Do not bother staying here if all you want is a place to sleep. The hotel is a destination in itself. Especially if you have children. Mine are 5 and 2. We stayed by the pool and the beach the entire time.
Everybody had a lot of fun. I plan on going back the next time I see an incredible rate. I wouldn't spend 300 a night for this place, but that is just me. I think that $130 - $190 is plenty. They get you for everything else, the drinks, parking, beach chair rental..... You pay, pay and pay here, but it is worth it. A car isn't really necessary if you plan on staying in South Beach. If you want to go to the museums and attractions, the you have to have a car. A word of caution. South Beach has its share of homeless people. They were harmless beach bums.
There are plenty of police, bot uniform and in plain clothes. But that has more to do with the drunk 20 somethings than crime. There is also a large gay community in south beach. Durring the day, it is low key. It is only really noticable late at night and in the clubs. Yes, best dressed, best dancers blah blah blah..... I had a great time, and plan on returning with the whole family.
excellent location
from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Miami
Nightclubs Ask the hotel conceirge and they will get you into any nightclub you want. If they can't, nightlife starts at midnight, so if you get to most places before then, you can get in if you don't mind hanging out for an hour. Mansion was the best club I've ever been to, better than anything in LA. The girls there were gorgeous!
Great and Not So Great Dining Emerils Restaurant- Kind of overrated. The bar is basically in a hallway and you can't even see the restaurant so going for a drink or a bite to eat at the bar is NOT worth it. Food was just ok. World Resources - Great sushi and asian food at great prices. Prime 112 - Amazing experience but be prepared to spend a car payment on dinner. Food was incredible! Ago at the Shore Club - beautful setting if you have a table overlooking the pool. Food was very good but service was rude and snooty.
Regarding Airlines Found out the hard way that Many travellers have lost Baggage upon arriving in Miami International Airport - particulary through flying American Airlines. Plan ahead and keep your bag with you! My bag never arrived the four days of our trip and still cannot be located five days later! Very difficult to talk to a live person with airline baggage handling. Keep your bags with you!
