I don't know much about the stay at the hotel but I do know that the restaurant is outstanding. A little pricy, but worth every dime. The service is amazing and the restaurant is absolute gourgeous. With candle lite dinner tables, already dinner set tables with wine glasses fine china and more, you could not ask for a better place to to take a lovely lady for dinner and sweep her off her feet. Trust me, you WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

Overrated - Sterile Hyatt. Wannabee Sobe Boutique but not.

Rooms are unusual, very unique, but view of the next door bldg. in a Very Victor supposed better room was a disappointment. No privacy. People standing on their balconys can look right into your room! Smoke from people on the balconys was coming in my room. Service typical Hyatt Called the concierge and got voicemail. Don't be fooled by this Hyatt attempt to enter the Sobe boutique market. The Tides cannot be beat. The Hotel Victor will not satisfy a true, experienced traveler who has frequented Sobe often. Summary: Average/Below Average service, Overated/Awful view rooms, and o.k. room amenities/appearance/concept. Not up to par with other beachfront luxury hotels like the Tides. Not worth it. I actually checked out and went to the Tides having experience both, there is no comparison.

I stayed at the hotel with my Fiancée after being in Cayman for a couple of weeks working so that we could relax. As soon as we arrived we knew we had chosen well. Our bags disappeared not to be seen again until we got to the room, the reception staff were friendly and cooler than I could pretend to be.

The room was a Very Victor and wasn't as big as I expected but was still very good. The bathroom takes a little getting used to and the beds are fantastic. I didn’t get the paper that I asked for in the morning and during our stay the rooms where made up but did not have the toiletries replaced. We were not too bothered and it didn’t spoil our stay. We made comment on it when we left on the questionnaire they asked us to complete and when we returned later to get our taxi the receptionist made a point of coming over and asking us about this.

Never stayed in Miami before so do not have a comparison but would definitely recommend and return in the future.

Great Hotel and Great Service

After reading some of the previous reviews of this hotel, I thought that the employees of Hotel Victor must have thought we were undercover reporters for a travel service. However, it seemed that all of the other guests were as pleased with their experience as we were with ours. A friend of mine and I took our daughters to SoBe for a last-minute shopping/eating/sunning trip to celebrate the girls' entry into high school. We arrived Thursday afternoon and left on Sunday. Our rooms were beautiful and clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. The hotel delivered complimentary champagne during our stay, together with truffles and fortune cookies every evening. One evening, we went for a walk and got caught in the rain. Upon our return to the hotel, we asked about the possibility of having dinner at Vix. Although there were no reservations available, we ended up having dinner at the chef's table - quite a special treat! We shopped every morning and sat by the pool every afternoon. The poolside service was fabulous! The poolside food was great; the only downside was the limited luncheon menu. I stress that we are not VIPs - we booked the least expensive rooms through Orbitz! However, the entire staff treated us like VIPs during the duration of our stay. When we go back to SoBe, we will stay at the Hotel Victor again.

Simply The Best

My wife and I just spent the last 2 weeks of July at The Victor. Only excellent comments to make. From the very moment we arrived we were greeted with extreme attention and politeness. The service was great. The attendant at the pool, Juan and Cornelius were very nice and professional. No hidden fees here, on the contrary, the beach chairs and umbrella are included in the price of the room (i.e. no resort fee). I have been at other hotels in South Beach (Park Central, Loews, Savoy) and this is the best. One advice - ask for a room on the top floors as there is some noise from the lounge (2nd floor) that may be unpleasant from Thursday night through Saturday night. Rooms are small but very trendy and nice. Very well kept and clean. Tips for restaurants - Try Spiga on Collins. Not too expensive and very good sophisticated Italian food. On Ocean Drive, we suggest the Rendez-Vous, the best filet mignon in the world - ask for John for very good service.

My husband and I visited the Hotel Victor for our anniversiary and loved it! The service was outstanding, VIX was delicious, and the room was great (however don't expect a large space). They also made reservations at wonderful restauants and clubs for us! Highly recommended and can't wait to go back!

Birthday at the Hotel Victor

This hotel is one of the BEST I have ever stayed. The rooms are great!!!! Although our room was a bit small, the decor is wonderful. I took my husband as a surprise for his 40th birthday. Big thanks tho Eric ( bellman ) who took great care of us. We were given free passes to all the top notch clubs, the beach service was great. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will be back.

Overated....Go to the Tides instead

Our experience at the Victor hotel was so bad that I had to take the time to share the details:
*I contacted at your service to request that flat sheets be added
to my bed (because they are on request only). The sheets were DELIVERED to me, for me to put them on.
*Upon using the bath gel and bath salt toiletries on the first
night, these items were not restocked when the room was cleaned daily.
I had to call to request them in order to receive them.
*The bathroom toilet tissue was never replenished. We had to call
to request BATH ROOM tissue.
*On Friday, I ordered 2 picnic paks to take with us on our rented
private yacht on Sunday, 7/18. I requested that these items be ready at
10:30 as the yacht was departing at 11am. On Sunday, when I arrived to
pick up the picnic paks, they were not ready until approximately 10:50.
I was delayed in arriving to my yacht, because the picnic paks were not ready on time - Totally unacceptable.
*On the evening of our anniversary, we departed for dinner. After
calling 30 minutes in advance for car, it took the under staffed valet
service over an HOUR to retrieve our car. The next evening we called
for our car 1 hour in advance, because we had a dinner reservation. After arriving downstairs to retrieve our car, we waited an additional 45 minutes and then had to take a taxi in order to make our dinner
reservation. The manager on duty that evening was nice enough to pay
for the cab and have the car brought to the restaurant.

The BEST hotel in Miami Beach

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Hotel Victor. This is truly the finest hotel in South Beach. Superb service from the moment you walk trough their doors, along with impeccable accomodations. The concierge arranged all of our reservations and guaranteed a memorable time in South Beach. You must also try Vix restaurant for dinner. Amazing flavor and the best presentation I have ever experienced! I could just go on and on...Don't think about staying anywhere else!

...I cannot help feeling as though we were cheated and swindled

My husband and I spent our 5th anniversary at the Hotel Victor. We stayed from June 30 - July 4, 2005. Overall the hotel and its facilities was above average - great location, very modern and hip, friendly and helpful staff, excellent decor. However we had a few disappointments...

One week prior to our stay, we reserved a Very Victor room with a king bed and balcony overlooking the pool for US$295 per night through the Hyatt website. We were so impressed with the hotel's "tour" of our room and its decor that it wasn't until after we unpacked that we realised that the room was not the room we reserved - it had no balcony, it overlooked the outside lounge area and not the pool and we were charged US$375 per night! When we queried we were told that the internet rate of US$295 was an old rate. When we insisted on getting the Very Victor room which was confirmed, we were told that those rooms were all reserved and unavailable. "To be fair" they said that they would lower the rate of the room to US$215!

On our second day of our stay, our room was not cleaned until 8pm! We were told that they had not anticipated the hotel being full and that there was insufficient staff. When we returned from dinner later that night, although the linens were changed, the carpet was not vacuumed and the toiletries were not replaced (in fact the toiletries were never replaced during our entire stay there).

Our room overlooked the outdoor lounge where parties were held on both Friday and Saturday night. Needless to say the loud music until 3am was unbearing.

When we arrived, the hotel's valet parking was not available because "the city of Miami temporarily took the hotel's parking lot away". Parking was a nightmare especially on the 4th of July weekend! We ended up parking in a parking garage 3 blocks away.

When we were checking out, there was an $81 food charge that did not belong to us. After manually searching through all the previous day's receipts, the front desk clerk finally took our word for it and deducted the charges from our bill.

I have mixed feelings about whether I would stay at the hotel again. I really enjoyed the facilities but I cannot help feeling as though we were cheated and swindled.

My husband (late 30's) and I just spent a long weekend at the Hotel Victor. From the moment we drove up in our rental car until the moment we left, the staff and service was top notch. The inside of the hotel is very hip, funky and unique. We were offered bottled Perrier at registration and were quickly escorted to our cool and very clean room. We had the basic Victor King room on the 7th floor overlooking the pool and with a side ocean view- which was perfect. The rooms are small, however, the design and layout does not make it feel small (if that makes sense). The King bed had a featherbed and a very fluffy down comforter with a white duvet. There were large bottles of liquor in the room along with a fully stocked fridge. The direct line to Neiman Marcus was interesting - wish I needed to buy something! The bathroom was definitely different with just a long drape separating the area from the bedroom. It's obvious this hotel aims to please and I don't think any request would be out of the ordinary for them. Pool area was great with good drink and food service. The passage bar was a great spot to have a few pops before hitting the South Beach scene. The gym was in the basement and adequate for the average weight lifter or treadmill runner. The SPA was good with a beautiful co-ed sitting area and co-ed steam room. The treatments were a bit expensive. The restaurant on site was OK - nothing great...Asian flair with very small portions, I would not recommend dining there. Overall, a fantastic stay and would definitely go back.

Top Local Tips for Miami

New Year When many people were paying extremely expensive tickets to the sea-front hotels and complaining about lack of service and lack of quality, meanwhile on Espanola Way there was a rocking, latin style, wild, street party that had everything from people wearing live snakes, and some serious dancing and was completely free!

If you are looking for THE place to stay, pool scene, etc, then go to the Delano Was in Miami last week. The best place in South Beach is clearly the Delano. Awesome pool, great nightlfe, chic design.

Nikki Beach Nikki Beach has an amazing Sunday party, but also consider going for lunch during the week. We ate outside lounging on couches and shared a pitcher of mojitos, running our feet through the sand and watching the palm trees.
