Pick something better for the money

I had an "ocean front" room. The view was very nice. Supposedly renovated, the room was dirty, the tile was filthy and the carpets were worn through to the floor/torn in spots. Plus, $15 a day for internet - really?

Room service was HORRIBLE and expensive. Plus it took them 24 hours to clear away the tray. The food at the Cabana restaurant was equally HORRIBLE. $22 for greasy, tasteless fish tacos and a glass of water. Plus it was noon and there were about 4 people dining. The restaurant was blaring really bad dance music at an ear-splitting volume. Great for a crowded evening, but painful at lunch time.

The bell staff was the highlight. They were all warm and friendly. Very helpful. For the money you could do better.

A Refined and Peaceful Early Fall Getaway

from BrooklynRider
We booked this hotel using Marriott Reward points. We booked a standard room, but as a "gold member" immediately inquired about our free member upgrade. We were offered one of two rooms, a large handicapped accessible corner room - very spacious, but on the street side, or a ocean view room with a terrace. It was a no-brainer. The staff was very responsive and greeted us at every turn. We were initially concerned about early September weather, but were treated to a spectacular six days of sunshine. Much of our time was spent poolside. The pool and deck area has been renovated and now conveys a very refined elegance. Poolside service was extraordinary with wait staff from the deck restaurant catering to our every need. Before we even sat down they were there with big pitchers of lemon water to cool us down. The poolside restaurant (I forget the name) was excellent. Service was great and the food was perfect. Breakfast each day was the buffet at Harry's (we had the inclusive breakfast package). We ventured down to Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road for dinners. The hotel is north of the crowds, but, as a walker, I found the long walks to and from dinner enjoyable. I wouldn't say this hotel is abuzz with excitement, but it was a wonderful respite from city life. They have an excellent spa and gym facilities. Others might be disappointed at the limited dining for a high end resort - I liked that I was challenged to find local restaurants (which abound). FYI, definitely make reservations at Touch on Lincoln Road - five star food and service.

Nice hotel, but still needs a few touch-ups

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at Eden Roc for 4 nights. It is very pretty, and the staff was pretty good as well. I have few complaints, but here they are. The food was bland and expensive, go somewhere else. The rooms weren't sparkling or spotless. They are nice rooms, but they need new bedding. The comforters may be beading soon, they have that old feeling. The furnishings are obviously old, and the carpets have some stains in some of the rooms. If you pay for a luxury hotel, I don't think your television should be sitting on your dresser, even some cheap chains have a small entertainment center to hold the tv.

Overall, it's a good hotel. I won't stay there again, unless it's where my job has a function, but that's just because I know there has to be better places for me to go. I assure you it is still one of the finer properties in Miami Beach.

Relaxing and Calm

Eden Roc... PROS and CONS. The Cons are: Well, First off the room does not have a gleaming ambiance as the website portrays. and if you want to enjoy SOBE nightlife the cab ride will run you about $8.50 to get to Lincoln road. Now the PROS, which out weigh the CONS... This hotel is Pleasant, Peaceful, and Perfect in all other categories. If you are not into the loud and obnoxious crowds this hotel is perfect. The Beach is relaxing with a nice boardwalk entry to the Sandy White Beach... The Pools are pleasing with many activities to keep you entertain on the Resort (Ping Pong, Foosball, SPA, WeightRoom, etc...). I will definetly return... EDEN ROCKS!!!

Well Below Expectations

Awful stay. Do not let the first floor glamour fool you. "Renovated" rooms are just patched up old rooms. Has giant walk-in closets that you wouldn't need with a stay less than 2 months and tiny bathrooms behind crumbling doors.

Although we requested non-smoking we were put in smoking -- and it stunk. Despite checking in @ 4PM were told not available -- not likely.

Rooms are very dirty. Dust build up in shower vents. Rooms are not vaccumed. My kids first day food crumbs were still there on the third day.

Housekeeping was rude when asked to clean a room.

Do not bring a kid here. There is no kids TV. Listing they provide shows Cartoon Network. It wasn't there.

All the emplyees wore a pin EYE -- "Exceed Your Expectations". I wish they had put their effort into a better hotel experience instead.

In sum its a 4 star lobby with an old dirty seaside motel on top.

Fabulous Fitness

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Eden Roc is rated one of the top fitness resorts in the US and lived up to it's name. The water aerobics class in the Miami sunshine at 9:30am is the perfect way to start the day. The fitness facility is better than any of the gyms at home. There are 5 rooms (large weight room and cardio room overlooking the pool, 2 group fitness rooms and a stretching room). The classes and instructors are quality and trendy. I loved the Zoomba dance class. I did 4 classes in one day! My body feels great after spending four days there. The spa was not at quality, it needs a renovation (see my website, ------------- for a complete review).

Excellent!

Travel to Miami one a month for business/pleasure. This hotel is perfect for combining both. Excellent location with beach boardwalk adjacent to hotel. 2 beautiful, peaceful pools. Neat, interesting rooms with walk-in closets. Very Miami Beach. Always great service throughout hotel, best fitness room/spa in Miami (next to Mandarin), great restaurants, especially awesome Beach Grill. Great Hotel!

Lobby 10 Room 6

from LilMsFoodie
We spent a long weekend in February at the Eden Roc and enjoyed the hotel lobby and pool area very much. The rooms have been restored in the original decor of the time (50's-60's) and while amusing, the rooms could be more comfortable. Huge closets reflecting a time when people stayed for weeks at a time. We loved sitting at the bar in the hotel lobby which is over the top in the Morris Lapidus manner (the original architect who defined Miami Tackiness). We had a nice dinner at the open air Aquatica which is right on the beach (the only one in Miami?). I wish they would put a little attention to the menu but it was more than adequate considering the view. The only glitch was a mistake in our spa reservations which was hugely disappointing as the spa is supposed to be quite good. The hotel was generous in compensating us for the spa's mistake which was appropriate in our circumstances.I looked at the Fountainbleu and I would choose the smaller Eden Roc any day over that dated behemoth.

Hated it!

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! Everything that could have gone wrong did. Every reservation we made was messed up. Our room was dirty. The staff was snotty and totally rude. Everything was overpriced and tacky. Miami was great, but I would stay in a rat infested sewer before I would stay at Eden Roc again.

Beautiful hotel made even better by responsive staff

from RNS
We spent a long winter weekend at the Eden Roc, which we chose on the basis of positive Trip Advisor comments. Our stay exceeded our expectations. The facilities are lovely and the location is perfect, right on the beach and well north of the South Beach scene. The hotel is not too big, and having the huge Fontinbleau next door adds extra services, like a coffee shop open til midnight. When my wife was dismayed to find that there was loud Calypso music being played constantly at the pool, she spoke to a manager and within minutes the music was reduced to a very tolerable level, where it stayed until we left. At the excellent Harry's Grill I found the soup to be a little too spicy for my taste. When I mentioned this so many people came to fix the situation and coddle us that it began to seem like a comedy routine. Our only complaint - the charge for setting up a few chairs and an umbrella on the beach was a stiff $27. All in all, a great joint.

Loved it!

Stayed here in July 2003 with some girlfriends and loved it. The room was average in size but with an amazing walk-in closet. While we requested and received oceanfront, you had to look beyond the roof of the spa. Request a higher floor than 5 if you want to truly see the ocean. Junior suites are really nice and spacious. The pool and pool bar area are fantastic! Can't wait to go back this summer!

Top Local Tips for Miami

Take a Taxi You are going to have to pay to park your car at the hotel in addition to any other parking fees at other destinations. eg. valet+tip, lot, meter.

miami beach vs south beach when booking your hotels make sure you do a little investigation because some people think that every hotel on collins ave is south beach when it isn't. Collins ave is a long street so make sure you investigate so you can decide weather you need a car or not.

Quinn's Skip the oldest stone crab restaurant and go to Quinn's on Collin's Ave. Great Stone crabs, with great service, live music and outdoor seating. This restaurant is a must go to place while in Miami. I always like a great meal at a great price and Quinn's fits the bill plus has great service.
