spent 4 nights. had read reviews beforehand and expected to see roaches and stains. had only a few minor problems: difficulty opening door, ceiling stucco falling, not many bath towels, long time checking out. but overall it was a normal motel experience. if you're going for style and extra services, dont stay here. if you're going for a great miami beach vacation and need a good locationed motel to lay your head at night, this is the place. great location. great price.

Never Ever Again

Well, this is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. We booked 3 rooms for our parties, each of which was filthy. One even had a leftover pizza box on the balcony with pizza still in it from whoever stayed the previous night. The bathroom window was broken and would not close. The hallways smelled of I'm afraid to know what. There were broken windows in the stairwells with jagged glass. There were burn marks all over the carpet and horrible stains. We're hoping the red stain was nail polish, or that's what we have convinced ourselves of anyway. The bathroom was filthy and housekeeping didn't even leave any clean towels. We had to find a housekeeper to get them and trying to communicate with people who don't speak any English is a challenge in itself. The walls, elevators, etc. were in need of not only painting, but a good cleaning would certainly help. Also, don't plan on bringing an SUV and expect parking. If your vehicle is an Expedition, Yukon, Escalade, or any vehicle of that size, you have to park in metered parking across the street and feed the meters with quarters all day. And, when you ask the so called "concierge" where you can get change for the parking meters, they don't have an answer. That's your problem, not theirs. This place is a true dive to say the least. The pictures on the internet DO NOT portray what you will see when you arrive. This was truly a learning experience we will not forget. I have never posted anything about a hotel before this experience, but feel compelled to let people know that this is NOT the place to stay. Unfortunately, we could not find availability at any other hotel during the time we stayed (and we tried), otherwise we would not have even checked into this place. Never Ever Again is all I can say.

The Hotel was awful. The rooms were dirty, extremely smelly and had damp patches on the floor. The cleaning ladies would come to the room everyday and somehow manage to miss eveythng that needed to be cleaned. The showers were also dodgy! One minute hot and the next ice cold. We asked to be moved to another room except they were all in the same condition. We requested a sea view, and didnt get that either. I must admit the concierge guys were very helpful. However our room got broken into and belongings were stolen. The hotel did nothing to help as the theif worked in the hotel. He was seen leaving the room etc etc. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone...there are so many more places to stay on south beach.

have to agree with most people who have written reviews,the hotel was shabby at best,the staff other than the ladies in the basement bar were too busy on their mobile phones to assist in any way,one actually turned his back on me so that i would not disturb his conversation, only 1 lift was working and the swimming pool was closed,shower did not work and a bedside light was faulty enough to be dangerous.on top of this it really wasn't very clean.
i wish i'd taken the advice offered on this site and stayed elsewhere even if it did cost more.

I can't believe all the negative reviews. This is a great hotel! Yes, it is an old hotel but so are all the other ones in south beach, and cost a lot more. The pool and grounds are excellent! It has all the amenities of an expensive hotel only for a lot less. Do not go by all the bad reviews, if you want a nice, clean hotel for not much money, this is the one!!!!!!!!!

My worst stay ever

I booked this hotel through Hotwire, came to $75 after taxes. Add $17 for parking, so a total of $92. I think this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The lobby looks reasonable, but everything else starting with the elevators smells. The carpets are full of stains, the rooms are small and stink. I would never ever go back. Thankfully, my stay was short, only 18 hours

Donate money, burn it, throw it away - but do not spend it there!

Due to a change of flights we stayed in this "hotel" for one day in march.

The pictures are totally misleading. it is a mess. Dirty, filthy and unacceptable.

There are some goods things to tell: it´s cheap, it´s right at the beach and some rooms have views.

If you´re a thirty-something or up and don´t wanna loose contact to the young generation - go there! We came in one of the first nights of spring break. No need to tell, what this meant ... But that was OK with us - we don´t mind the kids partying. But you should know that this is a hotel especially for the younger customer.

We stayed here for four days in April 2005 and found this hotel "Just about okay" i would say.

The location of Days Inn South Beach was good and rightly located in the hip hop area . There is a 24hrs Walgreens and CVS just down 4 streets and so is the Burger King.

The room inspite of facing the parking lot was breezy, towels and bathroom were clean and the carpet though stained was vaccumed daily. The towels were fresh everyday and we even got the blue beach towels whenever asked for. They also had a microwave kept in the lobby for the use by the guests.

However , I must say that the everywhere in the building there was little of that moist stink , probably becos the building was renovated long ago. Also, the overall abience was not at all impressive and the building definitely needed an overall shape up. It did not seem to be upto the Days Inn Hotel Chain standard we had expected.

In short, donot expect much here. If you are very selective and choosy this is definitely not the place for you. Overall this hotel seemed costly (considering its state) , so you might as well spend the same amount of money elsewhere. There seemed to be quite a few hotels on the South Beach in the similar price range but with more fresh look and feel. If the others are all booked then maybe you can manage a stay here.

I came back from Miami this very evening. Myself and four of my girlfriends stayed at the Days Inn and had SO many complaints. Here are a few of them:

Your room will NOT be properly cleaned during your entire stay, and extra towels are a no show.

If you request a fridge six times you will STILL not get one brought to your room

The elevators are extremely slow and unreliable, and two of my friends got stuck in one this morning

The photos are misleading, the hotel is actually a dump, with only a few rooms overlooking the beach and the rest overlooking a parking lot.

The room we stayed in had a broken toilet, stained bathtub, dirty carpet and very bad bedcovers, we ended up on the bare mattress most mornings!

And finally, the staff are VERY unhelpful, they usually leave it up to you to fix any problems.

Bottom line, spend your money ELSEWHERE because this hotel is appalling.

The hotel was acceptable. The location is excellent, on the beach, on Collins at 21st close to where the string of south beach shops and bars and restaurants start (at Collins and 17th or so). The hotel's pool area is very nice. There are blue pool beach towels but you have to ask for them at the front desk. You can't get from the pool area to the beach; there's a big fence. It would be nicer if you could walk from the pool to the beach. We stayed for one night, Feb 25. Our hotel room was not bad for the price during this busy season of the year. The lobby was fine. There is a little coffee shop area. The room was reasonably big. It is an older hotel. Our non smoking room smelled just a little bit musty - not bad - but I would be sure to get a non smoking room! There was a small in-room coffee pot and some styrofoam cups, which was nice. The bathroom was big and seemed freshly cleaned - surfaces were sparkly and it smelled very clean. There were some black marks (chips, maybe?) in the white linoleum on the bathroom floor. The sheets on the beds were bright white and smelled clean; they were unripped, unstained. The carpet, on the other hand, was badly stained. There were dark blotches here and there; I didn't want to walk on it without shoes. It did seem to be freshly vacuumed. The front desk staff people who we talked to at night and the next morning were nice. The concierge was nice. If you are picky, do NOT go to this hotel - the stains on the carpet could drive you crazy. If you are tolerant and not expecting much, this hotel should be fine. We payed $122 (including tax) for our one night here at easyclicktravel - chose this because it was cheap and was a beachfront hotel. The hotel was okay. By the way, if you are here on a budget, if you walk down 5 short blocks down Collins to Lincoln (16th) you will find on the south side of the intersection a 24-hour Walgreens with beach stuff/quite a few groceries including some fruit and on the north side of the intersection a Burger King - and also at this intersectin, a store with lots of kind of cute cheap bikinis.

Top Local Tips for Miami

do not stay at days inn south beach, miami DON'T DO IT - IT SUCKED & was HUGE waste of money! The guest service that you expect (from any hotel) was not there - The elevators did not work, ATM machine did not work, there was no where to park - so Days Inn charges $18.00 for very bad valet service. The room smelled like smoke. No hot water. Then front desk people were clueless, or just stoned. In the room, two lights did not work. There was crayon marks all-over the end table. The sheets had two cigarette burns, the sheets & towels were from the 1950's & the cable constantly went in & out. And finally, at 9AM SHARP, there was a VERY loud-loud concrete drilling on the same floor, or was in my room, nevertheless - this was a HUGE waste of my money! Tom Sarasota, FL

Hotels in Miami The trip to Miami is great, the only thing thats not good is the parking, you have to pay to park in any hotel you stay and tip these nasty valet guy's whom I caught many times just sitting in some one's car talking on the phone or two or one time I've seen up to three guy's in some one's car who had turned in for the night but the nice valet guy's were keeping that person's car company lol lol lol. Try to work something out with the Mgr at your hotel where you can park your own car in the back of the building like they park it anyway. They will try to tell you that they park all cars two to three blocks away, NOT TRUE! If they park your car three blocks away then how doe's the valet guy return so soon back to the hotel? Also watch the main drag about 2 blocks west of Colins Ave. Alot of drugs and bums and hookers! (No good for the kids) so be careful...SouthBeach is nice with the outside dinner spots, its a little dark on some of those corners so again be careful.
