Very Disappointed!

We stayed at the Crescent from 2/17 - 2/20 and were extremely disappointed. Guess we didnt do enough research but after seeing it rated so high on TripAdvisor we just booked it.

Turns out the Hotel is really a timeshare, which would be fine if it wasn't for the harassment from the sales people trying to get us to buy into the hotel. The front desk is really just a guy who gives out the keys to the apartments and was very unhelpful in regards to the various problems we experienced in the apartment (no hot water for almost the whole trip, terrible water pressure, and the worst of all a serious bug problem). It became evident that some "home office" managed the property and our voicemessages to them went unanswered.

Bottom line is there are MUCH nicer options, for the same price in SoBe. Before you book the Crescent try the Pelican (awesome location and rooms), Cardozo, or the Hotel Victor.

Stayed here the first week in January while in Miami for business. The host hotel for my conference was the Fontainebleau but I really didn't want to shell out $200+/night for seven nights.

The Crescent was a perfect choice. It was clean, modern, and the suite was HUGE--a big help since I really needed to spread out. AND it was $120/night. Definitely better than the Fontainebleau.

I'd read some of the reviews complaining about the housecleaning; I put my mind at rest (and the hotel on alert) by calling ahead and mentioning my concerns. I was told that they had recently contracted with a new housecleaning service and that the complaints had ceased. With the exception of the floors, which I don't think were swept the whole time of our stay, the housekeeping staff did a fine job of keeping the room fresh and neat for us. (I did mention this when we checked out.)

The location is lovely, although I didn't really have time to enjoy the beach. The restaurant next door is a nice bonus when you're too beat for a night on the town, and there's a Starbucks across the street, which is a godsend when you have 7 am meetings and need something stronger than the room's coffeemaker can produce.

Unfortunately, none of this could make up for the fact that both my husband and I *hated* Miami, but it would have been a lot worse if we'd hated the hotel, too. I would definitely recommend the Crescent if you are looking for luxurious touches without the price tag.

Great price for a great hotel!

We stayed here during the Orange Bowl. We got a great price by calling the hotel instead of using the internet. When we first walked in, the lobby was nothing great and we thought we might be dissapointed after all the great reviews. But when we walked into our suite, we were very please. It was very nice. We had a very comfortable king size bed in each bedroom along with a very nice bathroom for each. The staff was super nice, also. When we requested our car, it was there in less than 10 minutes. The location is great, waking distance of everything. We highly recommend this hotel.

Nice Hotel

I stayed at the Crescent from December 20th to December 23rd and couldn't have been happier. Got a great deal on it too. Rooms are large and included a kitchen, living room as well as a jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom. It's at a great location, right across the street from the beach, a few minutes walk from Lincoln Road shopping and dining and right along busy Ocean Drive. The staff was friendly too. BTW I highly recommend The Front Porch restaurant next door for breakfast.

Long Before the Next Eclipse

And what is a vacation if it isn't more than feeling near-abandonment of all that you are, in exchange for something that is all that you want to think that you are? To be certain, the Crescent is not Oz, Nirvana, nor Paradise. What is, is a place where people believe that they are glad that you're here, and "What can we do to make you feel good?" To those ends they succeed admirably.

Miami Beach is a virtual "Do it yourself" kit. You can pick and choose and from number and prices of accommodations to help delay Northeast winters. However, what can't be bought is a sincerity to please that goes beyond the fact that you're just another paying customer. To that extent, the Crescent is assuredly one of the best on the beach.

We were there the on the night of a lunar eclipse. We sat out on the front porch watching the spectacle in the sky juxtaposed against the spectacle that is the nightlife of South Beach. Both were fascinating, and the Crescent was the perfect vantage point from which to view both phenomena. It is a sure bet that we will go back to the Crescent long before the next eclipse.

We booked the Crescent Beach Hotel Nov 5-6 2004 after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. As advertised - we could not be happier. The hotel rooms were clean and modern. The price was fantastic - one bedroom, kitchen, dining and living room all in one low price. The rooftop hot tub was not functioning when we were there but no big deal. All in all, we are very satisfied, and believe me, the significant other, who is very picky, was pleased. Highly recommended.

Cute, Clean and Convenient

When I booked Crescent Suites, it was ranked 3rd and I was extremely impressed with the reviews. Four of us stayed in a one room suite between Nov 20 to Nov 23. While the suite was not large, it comfortably accommodated the four of us. The main sitting room can act as a separate private room with a shared washroom to the main bedroom. There were two TVs which was very convenient. The hotel and suite was very clean. However, we did not get our room cleaned once during the trip. Our beds were never made and we had to request new towels from reception. All of the amenities were under construction or broken so we basically just lived in our room. There was a computer in the lobby which the receptionist told us we could use to check our emails (by the receptionist) but the hotel manager yelled at us for using it.

Overall, we had a good experience and would go back again. For $108 per night (deal given by Hotel Manager), I would go back again. The hotel is very clean compare to the others you will find along ocean drive.

After reading several reviews on this site which made this place sound good, I decided to TRY and make reservations at the Crescent Hotel.

When I called the hotel to make a reservation, they wanted a 4 night minimum stay during a particular week/end in January. Also, the price on their web~site was about $30~60 less a night than what they were quoting me over the phone.

When I told the clerk this, they hurried and changed the rates on their website to reflect the higher prices.

When I called back and asked to speak to the manager to try and negotiate the lower price that was on their web~site just a day earlier, HE WAS IN A MEETING, and I was told to call back in 2 hours. When I called back the second time, HE WAS OUT TO LUNCH.

Also, when I inquired about a government rate, they said they could offer me a 20 percent discount which was no discount, because it was the EXACT SAME REGULAR RATE AS WHAT WAS ON THEIR SITE.

If you're into price gouging and "miminum required stays", maybe this place would appeal to some, but not to me.

I am sure there are a lot nicer places to stay in South Beach Miami that do not hassle people from the start. I will stay elsewhere.

Great place

We just came back fron Miami where we spent 4 nights at the Crescent hotel. It is right accross the beach, a perfect location from restaurants (not too far to walk, but far enough to not hear anything).
Our room was pretty big; there were 2 TVs, a CD player, a fully equiped kitchen (that we did nto use because we could not find a grocerie shop around).
The Jacuzzi in the bathroom is great, although very loud.
We tried to go to the jacuzzi on the roof, but it was out of order.
the staff was pleasant, helpful when we need them.
We enjoyed our stay very much, and will certainly be back to the Crescent hotel.

stayed at the Crescent on our way to Key West - two rooms for our party. great location, wonderful rooms. LOUSY staff. Front desk person was rude and uncommunicative; felt like I was arguing with her with each question. Too hip to be thinking of customer service. Both the exercise room and the spa were closed - but no one told us.

Top Local Tips for Miami

SUPER FUN! Night life is great! Ask the front desk for suggestions! They know exactly whats going in the city!! Also check out the daytime activities like Seaquarium.....we had a great time there! Taxi was convenient for us...I think parking would have been a headache.

Parking Park in one of the municpal lots. We used the one on 13th/Collins and it only cost $10 for 24 hours. If you are out late you might be able to park on the street. It is free to park there from midnight until 9 a.m. After that it costs 25 cents per 15 minute interval and you use pay boxes. Unless you are planning on going places out of the SOBE area don't bother renting a car. We only rented one because we went to Ft Lauderdale.

A tipping tip DO NOT add a tip in restaurants, clubs, etc. All places add anywhere from 15 to 20 percent to the bill and don't verbally mention it to you. If you are unhappy with the service you can change the amount of tip-- e.g., bring it down from 20 to 15 percent.
