Our room was not ready until after 4:00PM. We were told to use the bar or pool area. There was nowhere to sit and while we could not get an accurate count, and there were more than 150 people in the pool and 14 teenagers in the small hot tub at one time, including one child swimming naked. There was a diaper by the edge of the pool. As we stood in the bar area, we observed many people having others let them (and their 40 gallon coolers) into the pool area from the beach. We paid premium for a king suite and had a balcony that overlooked a parking lot. We had to call 4 times to get linens and two pillows for the pullout sofa. They never brought us blankets. Many individuals on the resort patio area were smoking cigars and drinking beers from their coolers. I typically stay at Marriotts because they are smoke free, so this was especially disgusting. This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I stay at hotels approximately 40-50 nights a year.

GREAT!!!!!!

GREAT!!!!! VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY CLEAN!!!
I read the reviews about this hotel and knew I had to stay here. I am glad I made the right choice. This hotel was EXTREMELY clean and very well kept and managed...the maids do a very good job cleaning, they bring you towels right away and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the room...the room was small, and the walls are paper thin and you hear a lot of hussle and bussle, but overall I LOVE IT. The surrounding area isnt so safe, lots of homeless people and run down houses but this hotel is SUPERB!!!!!! You better rent a car if you want to get around because no good food stores within walking distance.

We just came back from a 4 night stay - I chose this Courtyard because of the great reviews posted on this site.
I requested an upgrade (I have been loyal to Marriott hotels and have Marriott rewards) but was denied. I had called the hotel and asked for this a few days before my visit, and also asked the clerk.
The room was front on Collins Ave (view of parking lots/vacant buildings) was extremely noisy - you could hear people at all hours on the street, also the a/c fan very loud going off and on - the bathroom layout was dumb (toilet facing door) -- there was a fee to use the internet -- a mini-bar with the usual expensive stuff. Why not a room size fridge for water/soda/snacks?
The hotel breakfast buffet $9.95 or continental $7.95 per person, was expensive for someone who just wanted a cup of coffee/or juice and a roll - so we went on the street looking for a cafe (found a great Cuban one on 41st St, cross the Intercoastal, - Ramax - the complete breakfast $3 - excellent Cuban coffee - fresh squeezed orange juice extra... About 5 blocks
Highly recommend Argentinian restaurant (Dante) on Collins Ave (I think it was around 20th St) great food, very reasonably priced - it was a good walk from the hotel.
We had to walk 20 blocks to get to the Lincoln Road mall area for more dining/shops --- its pleasant walking on the boardwalk - on this part of Collins there are so many vacant buildings, nothing much of interest, and lots of traffic.
The Courtyard grounds were beautifully landscaped, pool well maintained, (lots of towels available), and very helpful workers (its interesting to see that almost all were from Latin American countries).
I envied the people who had the oceanview and balconies. I would never stay here again unless I had that. We did not have a car, but the weather was great so enjoyed the walking. The cab fare from airport was $28, and there were plenty of cabs available.

I would never stay anywhere else but here!

This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at! I was there in March, the people at the front desk where very nice and helpful! We orginally booked a hotel across the street, it did not open on time so they booked us here! The ladies at the front desk did everything they could and were able to get me into a ocean view room. Rooms are very clean, and nice. Cleaning service daily, along with a newspaper each morning! If you need anything at all, they bring it up to your room within 5 minutes (and don't charge). We had bad sun burn so we spent a lot of time at the hotel, they made are vacation fun still. We loved this hotel so much, we wanted to extend our stay. So after calling the front desk, they were kind enough to give us a great rate on staying longer. I come to Miami at least once a year, and I will never stay anywhere else but here. Thank you from: Lisa & Nick.

We stayed at this hotel Sept 21-23. The room was nice and clean. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

Best Pick!

from MRSEMESS
I took my husband to Miami for his B-day and chose the Courtyard because of previous reviews. We found it to be very peaceful and accommodating. The check-in was very quick and the front desk staff was very friendly. The king size room was very well appointed and clean and was a good size for 2 people. We had a small balcony and a GREAT VIEW overlooking the ocean, pool, and the hot tub. The pool was very nice and we never had a problem getting a towel. Valet parking is expensive, but they too were very friendly. We just called them to let them know we were on our way downstairs and the car would always be there waiting for us. The best part was definitely the buffet breakfast. The food was delicious and everyone in the restaurant was extremely nice and helpful and a joy to see each morning. We will definitely stay there again.

Loved it!!!!

After a weekend cruise with my parents for their anniversary, decided to spend a few days here as another treat. The room I got overlooked the lot next door that's undergoing construction. Mentioned that to the front desk, and Jorge graciously moved us to an oceanfront room. Enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi as well as the beach. As mentioned by other reviewers, my only complaint is the lack of towels in the pool area. Breakfast buffet had wonderful food. The overall atmosphere is classy. Will definitely get a repeat visit.

Nice Hotel

Just got back from Miami Beach. We stayed at the Courtyard Miami Beach. I used tripadvisor to make my choice of hotels and selected this property. I was not disappointed. The Hotel property is well maintained and clean. The pool area was also well maintained and clean. No complaints from the kids regarding the pool, they spent most of the stay at the pool.
Easy access to the beach, unfortunately the weather didnot cooperate and rained on us for most of our stay.
The rooms varied in size from small to large but met our needs.
Internet access in the room which helped me keep in contact with the office.
Rooms cleaned on a timely basis. Only complaint, not enough towels at the pool.
Otherwise we had an enjoyable time and were pleased with our choice of hotels. Hopefully we will be back soon.

A so-so hotel

from zenman2571
This hotel was ok, room was very small and was loaded with ants...breakfast buffet was a good take, very friendly staff. The food was top notch, good price $9.95 a person. The pool and jacuzzi were nice, but they never had any pool towels. The place could use a pool bar, the bar was inside just off the lobby and the drinks were wicked expensive $25 for 2 drinks and they were not even strong to boot. Take a walk down to Lincoln st. and buy a bottle of booze and make your own drinks. When I checked out they had charged me 5 days valet, I didn't even have a car, they got it staightend out finally. My brother lives in Miami beach so I kinda had my own tour guide. Anyway not a bad hotel for the money. If you like fun times at night go to the sky bar at the shore club, or the delano for drinks.

Great Hotel!

First time to Miami! This hotel was great. I checked Tripadvisor before I picked it, and agreed with the positive comments. The staff was wonderful, and check-in was effortless. I had an oceanfront room, which offered a lovely view of the ocean, but also a view of roof mechanical equipment. Only minor irritation was our room could hear the water trickle through the pipes in the walls everytime the guests above us flushed. It was kinda loud. Everything else was ideal!! Loved it and will definitely stay again. Far enough from South Beach to have peace, but close enough to party!! Parking was not a huge deal, either valet $16 per night with unlimited in-and-out or pay meters adjacent to hotel between 8am-6pm. There are also a few "free" parking spots at the hotel but you're in competition with the valet for them. Meter expire tickets are $18 so you might just prefer to valet!

m not near an airport....

from woodr35
I travel about once a month for business, and have stayed in many a Courtyard. True, this one looks a little different, but by far it is the location that makes it really different. Much better than near an airport! It was great to be able to swim in the ocean after spending a day working. For those of you looking to blow some Mariott points, this would be a good choice for a long weekend getaway. I would have had reservations given that it is not in the action-packed area between 5th and 17th streets, but to get there is a quick cab ride so no biggie. Also, given that it is a Courtyard (not exactly the hippest in hotel brands) I would have guessed that the beach atmosphere would have been more modest than, say, between 5th and 17th but I walked the beach from the hotel all the way down to 10th and really noticed no differences in clientile or swimwear (or lack thereof :) anywhere along the beach. So in summary this property certainly is a treat for the business traveller that usually is holed up in an airport hotel, but would also make a good hotel to stay at to experience South Beach.

Top Local Tips for Miami

Lincoln Mall Rd If in Miami/South Beach area, the shopping along Lincoln Mall Rd (West of Collins) is the best!!! Very fun, lively area full of boutiques and your favorite chain stores (BCBG, etc.)

South Beach We had a great meal at SushiSamba on Lincoln Road and another fabulous one at Gloria Estefan's Ocean Drive restaurant, Oriente.

bus buses are easy to get around with $1.50 each person
