Great Location but Rude staff

My family and I came down to Miami from Savannah to attend the Bob Marley Festival at Bay Front Park. We booked a suite with two rooms so our 1year old could have her own space. The rooms were beautiful and clean I was impressed. Room service was not so great. The kids menu is not kid friendly. I ordered a grill cheese sandwich and the bread was stale and the cheese was cold and swimming in oil. The adult meals were fine. A grilled salmon and a shrimp platter and the above mentioned Kid meal cost us 62.00 dollars. When I asked if gratuity was added they reluctantly admitted that it was. They automaticaly give themselves a ten dollar tip.

Now when I checked in there were people wandering around the hotel and hanging outside cause the hotel is non smoking. My husband went out to smoke by himself and was followed around the hotel like he was a criminal. He was asked by at least three people "Are you a guest here?" No one else was bothered in this manner but my husband because he was dressed in Rastafarian wear. We were treated like the hotel was shocked that a black family was staying there in a 200 dollar a night suite no less.
Furthermore, for the rates charged I was told by the reservation staff that there was a complimentary continental breakfast. This was not true. My husband went to get us some fruit and cereal with milk for the baby and 18.00 dollars was charged to our room! We could have went to MacDonalds for less than that and enjoyed it more. Also, it was not mentioned before hand that we had to pay an additional 15$ a day for parking. We feel that if you are staying in a suite parking should be included as well as breakfast.
We will be back in Miami next year for the same festival but we will not stay in any Courtyard ever again. We are a military family and when we travel to an event like this our party consist of at least 30 people all military as well. After this experience we will inform our fellow soldiers, family and friends not to stay in this Courtyard by Marriot either.

Where to stay in Downtown Miami InterContinental and Hyatt are the only decent hotels located in downtown Miami.

Downtown shopping closes early There was a Ross' close by with decent fashions. I went in to look for a small item and found some really nice bargains but also unique styles. But I had to move quickly because the store was closing.

avoid this hotel terrible noise problems throughout the hotel--highrise construction--fire station and major freeway entrance nearby--lots of traffic noise--rooms are NOT sound insulated at all--terrible hotel in my humble opinion---rdh
