Historical Traveller Reviews of Circa39 Hotel
Can-do staff; cute, clean hotel
Stayed here for 4 d/3n recently. Location is directly across the street from Miami beach. The beach has relatively clear water (for continental USA beaches), is clean, and not too crowded. The hotel's lobby, bar, and bistro are modern in design. The bistro has the most excellent, smooth coffee I've ever tasted (no coffee maker in room)! My room was behind the main hotel building (with elevator), in a separate building that appears to have been renovated apartments. No elevator in the 3-story back building. Lovely landscaped courtyard with funky modern outdoor furnishings connect the 2 bldgs. Clean room, with kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, sink, and lots of cabinets). Bathroom fixtures were brand new. Aveda bath products. Extremely limited street parking. Pay $16 daily for the unlimited in/out 24-hr valet svc. Free wireless internet in public areas, and free cable internet in the room. Flat screen tv in the room with over 60 cable channels. Decent, clean outdoor pool. Would stay here again.
My boyfriend and I stayed 4 nights at the Circa in June 2004. The best thing about the hotel was the service. From the moment we arrived to the moment a taxi was called for us, the entire staff was very attentive.
The hotel itself was very trendy and modern. The staff also kept with this theme. There is a full bar on site which also includes service to the pool. The pool was nice with nice furnishings including comforatble chairs and cabanas used for a break from the hot Miami sun.
I'm not sure June was the best time to go, even from a Midwestern who is used to the humidity. I'd advise choosing a different season.
A few things I would have changed:
-The carpet throughout the hotel was the only thing that still needs to be renovated and I suggest this be done.
-There is a small cafe in the hotel but this only serves cold items which is fine for breakfast or dinner. It would be nice to be able to choose from warm appetizers while hanging by the pool or having a drink in the bar. There are no other restaraunts within walking distance excpet those in other hotels, so the food selection is minimal.
-Because of the distance to south beach and other popular attractions, some may find a closer location more preferable.
Miami public transportation is reliable and easy to figure out.
Overall, a very nice vacation and a nice place to stay.
First, Circa 39 was not my choice, I requested an affordable hotel for the 4th of July through Priceline.com, and Circa 39 was the hotel they booked me for. I was a bit nervous because I had never heard of this hotel, so I searched the internet took a peek at the website but what really disillusioned me was some of the bad reviews I saw on here. When the day came for me to check in and drove in front of the hotel my thought was "Great..what did i get myself into..." The exterior of the hotel was not too appealing to my eyes quite honestly, BUT when i walked in I WAS EXTREMELY impressed, beautiful lobby! Very Modern! The staff was extremely courteous, the room was absoultely PERFECT! The courtyard is such a "chillin" place to just lounge back and have a drink. I was more than satisfied, I will definitely keep Circa 39 in mind next time I plan to spend a weekend at the beach. It was the typical "Dont judge a book by its cover"
This hotel was brilliant for the price we paid booking on Expedia. The hotel staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make us welcome. We stayed for 7 nights in the deluxe room and although many of the users have said the rooms are tiny - if you are European you will find them to be of a pretty average size. The hotel is in an ideal situation if you want to be near the beach - although it is quite far from any nice restaurants and bars etc. Overall a very nice place to stay - if I was returning to Miami I would definitely stay here again
Very Nice Place
Stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend. It's a newly renovated hotel - the lobby is small, but has a great clean funky design. Same with the rooms - pretty small, but very clean nice little touches such as mounting the TV from the ceiling and Aveda bath products. The hotel staff was very friendly, very helpful. The hotel is right across the street from the beach. The beach is very nice and not super crowded. It's about a 25 minute walk to the action down on South Beach or a quick 5 - 10 minute cab ride. The bus is also nearby but we didn't know where to find it. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was after reading so many bad stories of dirty or bug/rat infested hotels all over South Beach. We'd stay here again if we came back to South Beach.
You get what you pay for
If you're visiting Miami Beach on a holiday or during an event, you will pay a premium no matter where you stay. The low-end rooms at this hotel can cost $89 or $400. We were thrilled to find a room for $125 on the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. There was no available street parking during our stay, so valet parking was necessary ($16 daily). Do not plan to walk to restaurants, as there are none nearby; South Beach is 2 miles away (account for heavy traffic). The guestroom we were given had a view of an adjacent building and alley. It was tiny, with a queen-sized bed, one chair, one nightstand, one desk, and a TV (not a flat screen). The carpet, bedding, and furnishings are all brand new. The small bathroom was renovated by painting over old paint and plaster, and there is a large peeling crack in the paint on one wall. The beach is a short one-block walk. You cannot see or hear the ocean from the hotel; you may hear traffic at times and you may be awakened by the 7:30 a.m. linen delivery service truck. At check-in, there was no mention of a fitness facility (nor did we happen upon one) or a continental breakfast (though there is a small café off the lobby that offers breakfast items). The staff did not go out of their way to “spoil,” as offered in an earlier review; in fact, one staff member entered through the door as we exited and did not attempt to hold the door for us. Overall, we felt that considering the holiday weekend we paid a fair price for this hotel; had we paid more, we might have felt some disappointment.

We recently stayed for a long weekend at Circa 39. We found the staff to be extremely courteous and the rooms clean. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but who spends a lot of time in the room? We enjoyed the amenites provided in the room. Our biggest problem was parking. The cost per day to park is $16 or you can take a chance and pay the meters on the street. Parking is a problem everywhere in Miami! The boardwalk at the beach (across the street) was great. We really enjoyed the area. Beware though....there is construction going on across the street with the corresponding noise to go with it. That is not a problem in the evenings for sleeping though. All in all we had a fun trip. Not sure I would stay an extended period of time at Circa 39, but we had a good time while we were there.
New hotel the Circa39, and fabulous! Located 5 minutes from the central South Beach area, it is brand new and spectacular!Extremely clean rooms, all new linens and mattresses, all new furniture, fluffy bathrobes and towels, Aveda amenities in the rooms, ice machines on every floor, new flat screen TV's, CD players, beautiful pool and cabanas, wonderful staff that are very helpful and courteous. Front entrance is modern and all new furniture, paint and floors. Very Art deco.1/2 block to beach, out of the "party" noise of central South Beach, but a 5 minute ride to have cocktails on Ocean Drive.Book on their website for the best rate.5 star, and FABULOUS!!!Beautiful hotel...

The hotel is about 2 miles north of the action of South Beach. However, if you want to enjoy a clean, beautiful beach, it is but a 1/2 block walk to the ocean. The hotel is funky and fun. The staff are really nice. The rooms are small, but clean. The pool is small, but many of the hotels in Miami are small with a small pool. I really enjoyed the hotel and would stay there again.
We stayed at Circa 39 for a couple of days last month. I was worried since it was new and I am sure had some kinks to work through. Overall I was pleased. The service is amazing. Everyone was very attentive and willing to help with anything. The rooms are a little small as well as the bathrooms. That did not bother me too much. The Aveda products are a plus here. The breakfast was a nice touch as well. The pool was a litlle small, but the chairs at the pool were very comfy. I agree with one of the previous reviews about the carpet and elevator. It should be cleaned or changed. I felt for the money, Circa 39 was a good place to stay.

stay at a hotel that offers convienience yet is away from the noise of ocean blvd.
South Beach, is very high class, and full of high strung people. My friend and I shared a burger and each had a frozen drink for lunch at a beach side cafe and it costed $36.00. I thought the prices were outrageous and service in general was poor (they include their tip on all bills). I spent a day in the keys and had a much better relaxing time.
