Historical Traveller Reviews of Chesterfield Hotel
Roaches, Roaches, Roaches

The Chesterfield was terrible. The rooms are very small not to mention they are infested with roaches. I found this very displeasing due to the fact the hotel had a 4 star rating. The waitress at the bar was cool, and the free drinks from 7-8 were cool. The bathroom had a great concept, but the room is too small to enjoy it. You will need to remove everything from the bathroom so it will not get wet when you take a shower and you will have to shake out the towels to remove the roaches.
Do not choose the Chesterfield hotel because it will be the low point on your trip to beautiful South Beach.
small, unique but annoying

This is not a generic "Hilton" kind of hotel which partly explains both the great and terrible reviews.Case in point: the concrete bathroom is quite small and has no curtain or partition between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom which does get wet. Some find it hip while others find it annoying. --------Good: 1st-class bed, funky/interesting decor without being garish, location, free airport transport ---------Bad: noisy (but what does one expect in this locale - bring ear plugs), disappointing breakfast (even if it's free), $5/day "resort fee", useless sundeck with view of the 360 degree solid fence -------Ugly: service was really disappointing with the more major instances being housekeeping waking us up at 9am even though we had a "do not disturb" sign on the door (went dancing prev. night) - housekeeping claimed that since we are checking out, we are not "allowed" to use the "do not disturb" sign. Check out was noon. We were also sent to a club with free passes; unfortunately, the club was closed that night. Insist on them phoning the club to put on the guest list.

Awesome Place! My boyfirend and I found the Chesterfield on the internet and didn't really know what to expect. Wow were we surprised when we got there. The beds were the best we had ever slept in, they were large and soft... they even had oversized couches on the pourch of the hotel(which looks on to the strip) that were super soft too. We couldn't get enough of the shower, which had a rain fall shower head and mirriors floor to ceiling with everything else marble. It was a quick over night stay before we went on a cruise but to our surprise our romantic get away started at the Chesterfield!
I had an excellent time -recommended for young people who want to have fun

This hotel was very cool, expect to have a good time if you stay here. The decor is very contemporary. There were metal blinds and metal and glass tables. The beds were all white, and the bathroom is very cool. It has an overhead shower that rains on you. The rooms are small, but it's great for couples. I would NOT recommend bringing kids here. I have to laugh at some of the other reviews where people complained about the shower and the lobby, and the parking etc. Obviously they have never been to south beach if they expect there to be some big driveway with valets waiting to park your car for you and walk into a huge oversized lobby with bellmen kissing your feet. If that s what you want, spend the money to stay at the shore club for $400/night. Don t stay at this hotel if you are an old fart! This is a great place to stay if you want to have fun!

Great Hotel!!

A friend and I visited Miami Beach, and we stayed at the Chesterfield.
I thought that it was a great place. When we checked in we went up to our room and everything was very clean and cool looking.
The Safari bar in the lobby was amazing and we got free drinks every night for 2 hrs. They have the best iced coffee at the hotels café and the beach is only 1 block away. Steps away are the all the best clubs and stores including Barneys Co-Op, Banana Republic and Armani.
Everything else is within walking distance, which was nice. All together Chesterfield was great. I would definately recommend this hotel to anybody looking to stay in an inexpensive and cool hotel that is in the middle of all the SOBE action.
DO NOT GO HERE

With so many hotels in SOBE to choose from, do not choose this one. The only thing that was good here was the location and the free drinks from 7-8pm. Otherwise the rooms are small and the bathroom is the most poorly desgined room I have ever been in...it was awful! The service was terrible and the elevator is old and rarely works.
Stay somwehere else in sobe!!!
One of the worst!

I booked this hotel on the Internet based on its 3.5 star rating. Only thing 3.5 star are the prices. Local calls are $1.00 a minute! They charge $5.00 as resort fee though it is not a resort. It is supposed to be a Boutique hotel. At the first glance of the facilities listed on their site, it looks impressive. But in reality, it is not. The rooms interior is different but it appears as if someone has put things on a very old building. Lobbys are very narrow and dark. The elevator is very small and you have to hold the door for it to operate. On their site, they say that they have high speed internet access. There is a very old computer in the lobby and it was a pain to get on to a site on it. The bathrooms are very poorly designed - there is an overhead shower which wets everything including the toilet paper and towels. For continental breakfast, you have to go across the street and the service is extremely poor. There were limited items which were also not there at all times. When i asked for muffins, the person told me to take only one. The cereal, bread etc. they use are all unknown brands. There was one toaster which took 10 minutes to toast two slices of bread. I strongly advise against staying in this hotel...better stick to a name brand hotel!
Wonderful Experience!!!

I arrived at the Chesterfield Hotel on the 23rd of October. I read recent reviews and have to disagree with many of them. WHen I arrived the whole front was p[acked with people eating and having some drinks.
The music was playing and the atmosphere was lively. I had no problems, the place looked great. Now the rooms arent huge but it was just my girlfriend and I we had no problems. The shower was a new experience and a lovely one at that, though you better take your towels out before ya get in. Also the Chesterfield offered an open bar from 7-8 and you could attend one of its sister properties for thier open bars also.
They also gave us free VIP admission to a popular nightclub and free ddrinks there from 10-12. The only problem was the dark hallways.
Overall a great experience. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!
Terrible Experience!!
from vvirtue
The chesterfield was a terrible experience. Our plans were to stay for two nights. It was so bad we had to leave a day early. When we first arrived at the Chesterfield We noticed how unkempt the building looked, we almost just drove on. I decided to give it a try. The valet parking was also a problem, there was No one there to get the car. So we had to worry that the car would get towed. The lobby didn't look too bad, so I thought, Hey maybe this wont be so Bad... Boy Was I wrong! The rooms were small, the bathroom was soaked from the Shower, which had no shower curtain or door at all causing the water to go everywhere. The walls were very thin, we could here the people in the other room, Doing things we should not, and didn't want to hear. After a night of only a few hours of sleep we had to wait 30 minutes to get the car out of valet parking, which finally took them 2 hours to park. The elevators were so SLOW for such a small hotel. And the hallways are so dimly lite to try to hide how dirty they actually are. When we came back to our room later that day, we Also found a roach in our mini bar, which was my deciding point it was time to check out early. BEWARE of the Chesterfield...

Street Parking Tip!!
See the last paragraph of my review so u can park on the street and sleep in the next day.
Prime 112 for dinner & Nemo for Sunday brunch
Get reservations weeks and advance. Gaurantee you its worth it. These places were amazing in food and atmosphere.
Park in metered spots overnight - cheap!
Easiest on weekdays, park in metered spots in nearby streets overnight. If I remember correctly 10pm to 6am is free and you can pay a max of 4 hours at a time. Refill the meter around 10pm and u will have parking till around 10am the next day. Check the times though becaase I cant remember exaclty.
