Plastic Furniture, and not even from Tar-jay!

This place bills itself as a boutique, I felt it was inexcusable example of that and they charged EXHORBITANT prices because it was Spring Break. The lobby reeked of urinal cakes, the room was furnished with cheap plastic furniture that Target would never even sell. The floors were concrete, and not of the polished sort.. like they forgot to finish them... not a rug for my feet in sight. For $500+, I have stayed at some of the finest hotels in the world... INEXCUSABLE.

Poor serice

The staff really were not helpful. The concrete floors were horrible and the shower head was not secure so it fell and hit me on the head.

Clogged drain, no comforter just a sheet

For those optimists like myself I'll say one thing: book through hotels and make sure you can transfer to another hotel, just in case. My friend and I arrived on Friday night. We were greeted by a courteous man, but told the room we requested was not available. We could, though, pay $30 and get a better room. Uh...how about...NO! So, we go to the room, and are shocked! It's small, and not very attractive. Yes, it's sleek, i.e.: a sheet for a bed cover. But the worst, was the drainage. When we called to mention that the bathwater wouldn't go down, we were told that a repairman had been there earlier and that previous visitors had mentioned it...we were offered a plunger. Adding insult to injury, told to go to the office to get it. On the UP side, the complimentary breakfast was nice. The cleaning women were also quite friendly, as well as other staff. The jacuzzi was really great. We missed it when we transfered to the Tudor. (Which has stale bagels for breakfast, by the way). You win some, you lose some.

...would definitely stay again...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Aqua in June '03 and loved it. It was a quaint, contemporary, and very clean hotel. Service was great and staff was very helpful. The location was great as well as it was only a block from the ocean and across from a parking garage (which is hard to find in SoBe). Would stay there again. Book early for a reasonable price (under $150).

Miami Sleek

Swanky and Hip, the Aqua Lounge and Hotel offers those looking for a centrally located and inexpensive room the most bang for the buck. We had a great time meeting tourists from all over the world. This is a prime stop for those wanting to be close enough to the craziness, yet far enough to be able to snooze in.

Hated it!!!!!

This was the WORST hotel i have ever stayed at. There was no running water for two nights. There is no carpet on the floor it's just cement.
The balcony furniture has been left out forever in the rain it's dirty bron and nasty. The breakfast is budget the whole hotel is GHETTO!!!!!!
I would not stay there if it was for free.. GHETTO GHETTO GHETTO

Aqua HELL and Lounge

You really get want you pay for and less. My wife and I stayed at Aqua for 5 days and the stay was awful. There are no floors. We were walking on concrete. There was a clock in the room that wasn't working and filing cabinets as drawers. A/C wasn't working well. The toilet broke on a Sat and they couldn't get a plumber there until Monday. Insane.
The water kept on flushing and it effected the shower. Extremely hot water. We were dirty and without full use of the toilet. When the manager did come by, I asked for some kind of refund or a better room and he said no. He offered us a free night stay on our next trip to Aqua. As if we are ever going to go back there. Rooms had a terrible odor. Hot tub was nasty and about 200 degrees. Can't wait to go back...NOT

t go there!

My boy friend and I look at the reviews and we purchase 5 days stay in this hotel from ****. So we payed 5 days advance. Hotel was incredible ridiculous. Photo looks good but nothing like what you see it in the photos. It is saying hardwood floor! there are lying! there is nothing on the floor no nothing, no hardwood floor no carpet nothing! First 3 days we had terrible smell in the room and than we realize that is headboards of the bed. The Headboards molded! Oh god sooo noise! walls are like cardboards you can hear people whisper next room. I feel so mad when I think about it.

Not my favorite hotel in Miami, but worth $99 or less per night.

I stayed at the Aqua Hotel from February 28 to March 2, 2004. The good things:1. The staff is amazing. Very helpful and suggested good restaurants, getting cabs, etc. 2. The courtyard is nice. I loved the deck.3. Model shoots everyday. Kind of fun to watch.4. Great location to Lincoln Road, Espanola Way, Martini's at the Delano, 1 block to the beach. The no-so good things:1. The noise is just not necessary. Our neighbors were just talking and we could hear everything they said. Not shouting, not raising their voices. Yikes!2. The money must have run out before they got to the bathrooms. They were clean, but falling apart. We paid $99 per night on Hotels.com. It was not worth a penny more. The rack rate was $250. HA!I would not stay hear again only because of the noise. They should just knock down the walls and make it a giant dorm.

Aqua is OK, not great

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Aqua two nights, February 27 and 28, 2004. It was okay, but not great. Believe what you have read about the noise--the noise can be bad from the rooms on either side of you, as well as noise from the courtyard. I had read reviews on this Web site prior to my trip, so I brought earplugs and they were *extremely* helpful when sleeping!

The hotel itself is in an excellent location and has a great SoBe address on Collins Avenue, facing east. It is right across the street from the Loews and some other hotels that cost a lot more. Lincoln Road pedestrian mall is a few blocks north, and the beach is a block away.
Therefore, I might stay there again just for the good location and convenience. It would just depends on what else was available in that area, for a similar price.

Aqua's building it not "Art Deco," as compared to other hotels in the area, but it is pretty old. They have done an okay job at restoring the original structure to make it quaint, but it looks better in photographs, than when you look at everything up-close.

My room was a standard room, and it was large. The sleeping area has concrete floors, and the floor was clean. When you first enter your room, the maids have left blue condom lollipops on the bed! Very cute.
The closet was large and the safe worked just fine. Towards the rear of the room are a kitchen area, with stainless steel counter, mini-fridge, toaster oven, cabinets, etc. This area had hardwood floors.

The toilet is original and every time I flushed, a small stream of water shot out of the plumbing. The shower had awesome water pressure, but I agree with other reviewers that the hot water was sporadic and nonexistent at times.

The staff was nice and was very helpful with advice, directions, etc.
They have a 24-hour front desk.

Not as advertised

from A TripAdvisor Member
Good location and a pretty courtyard and deck, so at $80-90 it might be ok, and many students or young people would enjoy it. We're older and prefer a clean, quiet, and comfortable place. Instead we paid $240 for dirty concrete floors, no rugs, torn couch and bedspreads, peeling paint in shower, hot water that turned freezing, leaking toilet handle, dirty curtains, walls, and door, broken key in safe, noisy neighbors and no soundproofing, inadequate towels and pillows, and no bureau at all, just some rickety shelves. It didn't live up to the descriptions, to the photos on various sites, including Aqua's own site, or to a reasonable standard of hotel decor and cleanliness. I loved South Beach but I would never stay at the Aqua again.

Top Local Tips for Miami

Eat Out There was some "fun" places to eat and have fun. Fat Tuesday and Wet Willies are a must see.........

plan accordinly If you plan to tan and drink, then Souht Beach Miami if the place for you. Otherwise, plan activites ahead of time to get the best overall experience of Miami.

2 for 1 Drinks Be sure to look on Ocean Drive for 2 for 1 Drink Specials and Appetizer Specials. Oceans 10 at Ocean and 10th offers 2 for 1 drinks and $5.00 Hot Wings during the afternoon. It's a great snack after the beach.
