Great Hotel

Staff upon check in was very friendly and helpful. Room was more than I expected. The room had a small balcony with a great view of the ocean. The room appeared to be recently updated. Everything was very clean. Would definetly recommend this hotel.

Right on the Beach

We stayed at the 'Double Tree Guest Suites Melbourne Beach' (actually in Indiatlantic, FL) for two nights in April 2007 to attend a local event. The hotel has apparently just become a DoubleTree recently, and all the rooms have been recently renovated. The hotel sits parallel to the ocean, so all rooms have a magnificient ocean-front view right out the bedroom sliding glass door. There is a small balacony with two plastic chairs to enjoy the view and the sunrise, if you can get up early enough. There are two rooms... When you walk in the room, you enter the sitting room which has a couch/sofabed, upholstered chair, small wooden table with two chairs, flat-screen TV and large storage cabinet which contains small fridge and microwave. The furniture is adequate, not posh by any means, but sturdy, clean and in excellent condition. The bedroom area on the ocean side has a flat screen TV and a small closet, but plenty of drawer space. Sliding doors open to the small balcony. The king bed was comfortable with extra pillows and a comforter. (Other rooms were available with two beds.) There is a tiny tiled bathroom sandwiched between the two rooms with a glass-doored shower and commode, and a mirror/sink area just across from the bathroom with a granite counter. Towels were large and fluffy, not thin -- one of my pet peeves. Amenities (shampoos, conditioner, mouthwash, etc.) were supplied. There was a pocket door that could be used to close the bedroom area off from the 2nd room. There was an outdoor pool and bar & cafe outdoors and an indoor restarurant in the lobby. We did not try either restaurant. We did enjoy a long walk on the beach. There is a boardwalk from the hotel the short distance to the packed sand beach. We could see there were beach chairs and umbrellas stacked near the boardwalk, obviously available for rent through a beach vendor during daytime beach hours.
We paid $161/night using AAA through the hotel website. We were very pleased with the accomodations and would stay here again if we were in the area.

Great stay at Doubletree

I recently had a two day stay at the Doubletree and found the hotel to be great! Rooms were large, with great ocean views, tastefully decorated, and with *extremely* comfortable beds! Hotel staff was attentive and friendly. We did miss our room being made up one day, but I am sure that was a function of timing and when we were in and out of the room. No need to worry - they do have daily cleaning service. Based on the other hotels/condos, I saw in the area, I was very glad my stay was at the Doubletree and not elsewhere. I would definitely recommend it as a great area hotel.

Great stay

We wanted to stay beachfront during our trip to Florida with our small children. We were impressed with this hotel. Fantastic views from our balcony of the ocean. The pool deck is right off the entrance to the beach. The hotel pool also has bar/restaurant service which we loved. Very clean rooms and friendly service. We would definately stay here again.

Great Hotel

We spent one week at this hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. The rooms were great, loved the fact that we had two televisons and loved that we had a patio. Every morning we would open the door and listen to the waves then eat our breakfast on the patio. The towels were soft and perfectly white!! When we had a concern, it was looked after immediately. Enjoyed the beach and the fact that it was not overcrowded. The walks down to StarBucks and Cold Stone Ice Cream Store were great. Only downfall would be the fact that you must pay for your chairs on the beach; not used to this, when we have been away to the islands in the past never run into this. Would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying Doubletree hotels in the future.

Pleasant stay at Doubletree Melbourne Beach

My husband and I recently stayed at the Doubletree for four nights. We were generally pleased with the hotel.

Rooms: It appears that all rooms have oceanfront views with small balconies (patios on ground floor). The suites weren't terribly large, but having two separate rooms was nice, and there was plenty of storage for the two of us. Rooms have televisions in both the bedroom and living room. The living room has a microwave and refrigerator. The interiors have been completely redone recently, as the hotel sustained a lot of hurricane damage a few years ago (but seems to have recovered well). The rooms and hotel in general were very clean. Hotel is entirely non-smoking.

Food service: Other than the nice, warm cookies, our only meal at the hotel came from the poolside cafe. The food was great, better than expected, and service was fine. There are restaurants and grocery stores in the area, so your dining options aren't limited to the hotel.

Noise: The hotel isn't close to any other large hotels, so the area is rather quiet. The hotel walls seem to be rather thin. We had some rowdy neighbors, which probably made a difference, but we could hear more noise than expected.

Staff: We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. We had a minor housekeeping issue that was resolved quickly and professionally. The front desk staff were great!

Beach/pool: The pool area is decently-sized and well-maintained. The beach is nice and clean, and was not too crowded during our visit.

Area: There isn't much to do in the immediate area. Cocoa Beach is a short drive north and offers more tourist-type entertainment (and the crowds that go with it). If you have older kids (teens or 'tweens'), they may be bored with their options. There are some restaurants nearby (several chains, some local options), but you may want to venture out of the immediate area for variety. Pick up a local paper and find out what is going on--we have found fun festivals and such in Melbourne and Cocoa in our visits to the area.

Did a lot of research before booking our trip and we lucked out finding this hotel. Prices were very competitive and well worth the incredible ocean view, like new furnishings, good staff, and great location. The rooms all face the ocean and all have private balconies with enough room for two deck chairs and a small table. Your view is the entire ocean. They rent chairs, tents and other things on the beach. The first floor walks out to a heated pool, warm hot tub, beach bar and steps that lead directly to the beach. Getting to the beach is as simple as that. Drop to the first floor, head out back and walk across the deck and there you are, on the beach. We didn't eat there but of course, the cookies are awesome. The furniture in the room was adequate and comfortable. However, the bathroom sink and bathroom is a bit small. But having a refridgerator and microwave in the room more than made up for that minor inconvenience. I loved hearing the waves as we drifted off to sleep. Location is great - many nice restaurants nearby and only an hour or so from Kennedy Space Center, Disney and Universal. Folks in town were very friendly and helpful. Sabastian inlet is just down the road as well. We had never been to Melbourne before but travel across the US often. Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely try to get back as soon as possible!

Loved it - - would stay again

I recently stayed here for business. I've had to come to this area in the past and the hotel selection in Melbourne was pretty paltry in the past (due to past hurricane damage and rebuilding).

I was really impressed by this new hotel. The reception area is very airy and open. The back deck opens directly to the beach (direct walkway to the beach) and has wireless access. The rooms were 2-room suites. The furnishings were brand new and up to date. All rooms face the ocean. The bathroom was huge and the vanity had nice details like Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, lotion. The hair dryer was nice because it was one of those regular sized ones, not the ones attached to the wall. I don't know, but I like hotels who are concerned about details like this. I only ate once in the restaurant downstairs (had breakfast). It was really really good.

The only thing that I would say they should work on, is wireless in the rooms. I saw a lot of business travelers while I was there and I think that would be a great value-add.

Very nice hotel right on the beach. Extermely clean. Recent renovations make the hotel seem new. Not the biggest suite I've stayed in, but still enough room for our family of 4.

Loved It!!!

My husband and I loved this place. It was very clean, the staff was friendly, the food was EXCELLENT, the beach was clean, the ocean blue, the sky azure! We woke early, made our coffee and enjoyed the sunrise from our private balcony (except for one morning when we watched the sunrise from the restaurant to the MOST DELICIOUS Breakfast - pricey, but worth it !! Kennedy space Center and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge are about an hour away, both worth seeing. If you are looking for a place to relax, I would recommend this Doubletree. If you are looking for excitement, I didn't see any such thing around for miles!!

Top Local Tips for Melbourne

Skip the rental places at the airport When we arrived at Melbourne airport we had no auto reservations. It was Daytona week and the rates at the airport were very high. We called Enterprise from the airport phone board and got a great rate and great customer service. Enterprise in Melbourne is highly recommended. Skip the airport rentals and save that money for the gift shops.

Island Pasta Restaurant Went to downtown area for dinner and this place was great food, great price, very small so call ahead if you have a large party. Candy store across the street was a great finish for dessert. Mojito Pork was awesome, pasta was great, crab cakes were great, salad was nice, service was excellant.

Where to eat Lunch: Long Doggers (looks like a hole but has great food) Dinner: Island Grill, Bonefish Willys'
