Carpet The Condos......Please.

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in a 2-bedroom condo. I loved the lay-out. However, if you plan to relax in a quiet setting, your condo is not the place. Because the condo has tile floors and is not fully carpeted, the noise made from the tenants above you will drive you crazy! Most of the time, it sounded like the people above us were moving furniture, which they probably were. If the resort would lay carpet throughout the condos, I would stay there again. But until that day, I won't be one of their guests.

Wyndham is the Best

My Family and I stayed in a 3/3bath, we had 12 people with us! we would have never been able to take this trip with our family unless we owned one! The staff is wonderful! there are so many activites for the kids!
and the golf was wonderful! 5 to 10min from disney! that was great! The resort is very well kept! I love the time share units!

Alert! do not go to this hotel for time share presentation...

Great place to stay!

We stayed the week before Thanksgiving week in a 2 bed/2bath. The location was wonderful for getting to/from WDW. The unit was extremely spacious. Having read prior reviews, we were nervous. We had a great experience. As others had mentioned, the noise level is high due to the lack of carpeting (only the 2 bedrooms) and a lot of ceramic tile. We were awakened on two mornings to chairs scooting along the floor and to suitcases rolling. That would be our only complaint for the unit. It was new and looked out to the "conservation area" so it was not beautiful to look at, yet private.

Upon check in, we did have a sales person (although he did not call himself that - it was a customer relations person or something) try and schedule us for an inventory/inspection list to "keep their 5 star rating". He told us we needed to do this. We scheduled lunch, but had to cancel because our plans changed. He left a voice mail saying we needed to reschedule, but we didn't hear back from him and obviously didn't "need" to. We were very up front we were not interested in any sales pitch! We were a little upset and felt like they were trying to put one over on us.

We didn't make it to the pool, but they are small and not walking distance from most units. They did have planned activities for children and families, although we were not around to take advantage of them.

The office staff were not as efficient as would have been desired. We received a fax on Saturday that was not received until Tuesday when we called about a fax due that day and told there was one from Saturday.
There were a couple other admin type things, but nothing too major.

Overall, it was a great stay and we would return!

Resort beautiful

We stay in early August, the grounds are beautiful. The suites are complete, what's not good about coming back after a day at Disney to be able to relax in your own hot tub in your room. Park tickets availble at the office, limited room service, game room, mini golf and pools. A shuttle to all areas. The golf course was great, guests get a great discount on greens fees. Plenty of planned activites during the week. Only disappointment was that the poolside cabanna would closed down during the afternoon rain showers and then they wouldn't reopen for early evening.

Nice Place, Good Value

Stayed for 5 nights in October - rooms were large and comfortable. 52" inch TV was a treat for the kids. Booked through Hotel Kingdom and got a nice deal on a 2 bedroom unit. Asked for and received a top floor unit which probably cut down on the noise - along with the fact that it wasn't real busy. Pool areas OK, but both were a few blocks away from our unit. 10 minutes from Disney destinations, a little further to Sea World and Universal/IOA. If we were going back, I would strongly consider the Palms again.

We loved it!!

We stayed in a two bedroom unit from October 5-12th. We absolutely loved it, and would not hesitate to go to this resort again.

I must admit, I had read some of the past reviews of this resort and was ready to try and relocate for our vacation. I could not change the plans, and in the end I am glad that we didn't.

We were impressed from the time we arrived until the time we left. The resort was beautiful (and if you are golfers, you would enjoy this resort). The rooms are HUGE! We liked the furniture and the layout of the units. Very tasteful.

We had EXCELLENT customer service (our rep. Brad made sure we had everything we needed). The service was great right from the front desk to the security guard at the front gate!!

If I were to find any fault with the resort, I would say it would be the pool areas. The pools ARE small, however, there also was not a lot of people around the pools and most times we had the pool to ourselves.

t return

Clean rooms. Seedy atmosphere. Our room also had a door come off the track and just seemed very cheaply furnished. Pools too far away and not at all nice; annoying rock music played throughout resort. Avoid timeshare presentation. Did not like that area of Orlando.

It was ok, but....

Good looking place from the outside... once past that, it's not that great. Huge complex that seems to be getting too big for itself. There were tons of people, most going on sales tours - constant golf cart traffic. They handle the crowds at the continental breakfast by having a walk through buffet at the pool, the lines were a bit long but they did move.

I also was annoyed at the voice mail messages that were left by the resort restaurant. Nothing like waking up to a message blinking light at 7 am when you have sick relatives at home - a very sinking feeling for us each time. Then to be treated rudely by the front desk when I called to ask how to get messages (the message button on our phone wasn't programmed). Not only was she rude, but she gave me the wrong number!

We had a horrible view, wouldn't even call it a swamp, more like a muddy pool of water with some bushes around it. Stay away from building 12/13 if you can. They seem like the only ones without a view.

The rooms were good sized. We had a 3 bedroom lockout. The 2 bedroom side was very large and comfortable. The 1 bedroom side was fairly narrow, had no dishwasher, no furniture on it's patio. The door and dresser had large scratches in the paint, the refrigerator not only had some mold on it, but the door didn't close well. My FIRST biggest complaint was the noise. Everything is tile or cement, so sounds echoed. People walking outside, using the outside stairs or car alarms were unbearable in the 1 bedroom unit. We heard our upstairs neighbors pack at 4:30 am - opening dresser drawers, rolling their luggage, running around getting ready - ugh! Heard our next door neighbors TV each night. You get the message. My SECOND big complaint is the floor - it was so dirty, I had to throw out all of the socks I brought for my entire family. It was so bad! I think some of the problem was from the patio's, but we got dirty even when we didn't go out there. Yuck.

Location was great. It is very close to Disney, and just south of Sea World and a bit farther from Universal. It was nice to not be on the crazy International Drive. The guys played the golf course and really liked it. The pools were very nice - though the water was so warm it was yucky to go in. Overall, it was just ok, but I wouldn't go back.

Wyndham Palms - Good golf-bad pools

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned from a stay at the Wyndham Palms Resort - lucky to stay in a brand new 2 bed appt. with tons of room, 56in TV, jaccuzi bath tub in main suite & all the usual mod cons in the dining section. The 2 pool areas currently constructed are slightly disappointing being both small and somewhat lacking in immagination compared to the Vistana Resort where we stayed last year. Having done a great job on the villas I feel they've let themselves down here.Check-in area also adequate but lacks the feel & class of a true 5 star resort, being a glorified Portacabin.Location, just off 192 and 5 mins to Disney is great for the parks and, whilst I'd stay here again, It would only be on the basis of a discounted room like this time - arranged through Hotelkingdom.com

Top Local Tips for Kissimmee

Carraba's Fantastic Italian restaurant. Don't miss it and you can only call ahead one hour to make a reservation.

disney sure will come back

Beware and also get some deals Most shops in the area capitalize on the tourist trade. Liquor stores were extremely expensive. I was advised by a local to drive about 5-10 miles further for better prices. There is a high end outlet mall nearby with some really great buys. It's near Lake Buena Vista. Been there several times over the years and always find something at a great price.
