We first discovered Liki Tiki about five years ago. We were looking for a place to stay that was a family resort and close to Orlando. The kids were excited about the water park inside the resort and we thought we'd give it a try. We've been back every year since, and we have had good experiences year after year. I never write reviews but I was surprised by the negative experiences others had...so I thought that I would chime in. Put it this way, every day we spent in Disney the kids were asking when we could go back to Liki Tiki! The price is right, the location: close to disney, shopping, restaurants, and if you want to visit a beach for the day you're approximately an hour from Cocoa Beach and/or Tampa, FL., both are beautiful! I believe that everyone should experience Liki Tiki, especially those with small children, form your own opinion. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Great place for families and price

Like you probably, I was a little wary about this place from some online reviews. We've been going to Orlando area for 5 years now during February school break for a little bit of business but mainly family vacation. Once we arrived at the Liki Tiki, all concerns were gone. Our check-in was a little after 4pm. It took only a few minutes to check in, they mentioned our option to see another person regarding resort benefits, but he was tied up so we went right to our room. We did request a building closer to the lagoon, even though they said they couldn't guarantee it. We had the first building closest to the lagoon - top floor. Excellent location!!! The top floor has vaulted ceilings in the main room and the master bedroom. Yes, there were a few flaws - I can overlook some chipped paint and spiderwebs outside here and there, but I know that the staff was always working hard on keeping the place neat. Last year we stayed at another family resort suite in Kissimmee that cost over $330 a night and the room at the Liki Tiki was more than twice the size - we got a rate for less than $150 through a discount site (shop around with Orbtiz, hotels.com, etc.)

The "room" was great - huge for just our family of 4 (kids ages:11 & 8) - the view overlooking the lagoon from the balcony was wonderful. Even though we had rain & lightning one morning, the staff made even that day pleasant. When other kids got rowdy at the pool, the lifeguards quickly put an end to that, to our relief. We had a rental car, and do recommend getting food at Publix right down the road. We didn't eat at the resort - the "free" breakfast was just donuts and muffins and a huge line for that, so we ate out or had cereal in our room. My husband is a night owl, and he was able to watch TV without disturbing me or the kids. Only once did we hear our neighbors, and that was around 10am and it sounded like their kids were getting anxious to go to a theme park during the thunderstorm. Having the washer/dryer in the room was wonderful after getting wet at the pool during a rain storm (we didn't have to bring any wet clothes home on the plane - YEA)

Of note of anywhere in Florida: we visited family in a different part of FL before coming here and everywhere we go, the water is very nasty - buy bottled water everywhere, even when making your coffee or tea.

Try to ask for a room near the lagoon - and you'll be fine. Maybe when our kids get to be teenagers they may be bored with the pool, but the mini-golf, paddle boats (don't bother with the bumper boats - they were slow) and other sports available, it will be our place for a while. We never got called or bugged about timeshare or anything - we consider this place a solid "A" for the price and ammenities.

The worst place ever!

First I need to say the rooms were very nice, but that is about the only good thing about this "resort". I use those words very lightly. THe walls were so thin, the neighbor and I were dueling tv's. It is a time share. They call you on the phone to bother you about coming to their "breakfast", then they give tours of the pools while you are sitting there. Very cheesy since you are on display for future buyers. The wave pool not working. The bumper boats closed. An hour wait to peddle boat. The one pool had very gross, slimy things floating in it. Filtration system not working, I guess. The fire alarm went off at 10:30 p.m., People were complaining this was the 4th time this week. Some people packed and left. No explanation for the alarm. Roach in the room. The worst thing is that they double charged my credit card and on check out would not let me leave w/o paying another night. Then the clerk lied and told me she called my bank personally and they told her the refund was issued. She could not have gotten in my accout b/c she did not have my personal info. Finally the manager on duty came out and told me she did "lie" and that they called the reservations department and got the money refunded, but they never did call my bank. The other clerk on duty was screaming at me b/c I told them they had lied to me. It was just crazy. This was a VACATION!?!?! I was so aggravated leaving there. NEVER AGAIN! This is a poorly run "resort" to say the least. You would do better going somewhere else.

Top Local Tips for Kissimmee

Save on eating out. Since the rooms are equipped with full kitchens you can save money on eating out by purchasing food and beverages at the grocery store. There is a Publix in close proximity to the property. This really helps when you have children who always claim to be "hungry".

near disney on main road near everything go to cappones dinner show up other end of the road but is good even though lots of people sy its rubbish i have been every time i have been to orlando and thTS ABOUT 5 TIMES FOOD GOOD AND SHOW GOD AND HALF PRICE VOUCHERS .....

travelling by car its the easiest way to get around orlando but beware there is always a lot of traffic - especially during peak times. so get yourself a map and make use of the toll roads! the 192 through kissimmee is notorious for traffic
