Okay place, but not WORLD CLASS as they claim!

We traded through RCI to spend a week at Orange lake, taking another couple as our guests. Throughout the booking process, numerous agents told us how excellent the resort was, how it's the best in Kissimmee, and how it's RCI's top resort in the area. We looked at the website, and it looked very nice. We were expecting a 5 star vacation. This resort did not live up to its claims or our expectations at all. Though the resort was not filled, we were put in the West Village which is probably the original section. It has not been updated at all; the appliances, the plumbing, decor, everything is all very dated. Two burners on our stove didn't work, the showers were crusty giving an uncomfortable spray. The bathtubs did have jacuzzi type jets, but they were not nice big tubs as the pictures of the resort suggested we would have. The pools were nice, though the main pools were crowded with kids and swarms of black bugs flying in mating pairs... The pool near our room was much more quiet, but there were rats running through the bushes chasing the lizards. The grounds were well maintained, the location is great if you're going to Disney, but the rooms are horrible. We even had cockroaches in our room!! Cockroaches could be expected in cheap hotels, but not in a world class place where they know about the problem but instead of spraying rooms before guests come they wait until you complain. Overall, we were able to enjoy our vacation and had a good time at Orange Lake... but this is not a top class resort! The accomodations were very poor- I would have rather had an up to date Howard Johnson or Motel 6 room than the crusty old room we did have. My intentions in writing this review aren't to steer you away from Orange Lake completely, rather to let you know that if you are in the West Village this resort is average at best.

A great vacation resort!

We have been coming to orange lake for many years. The accommodations are super. The resort is exceptionally clean and well kept. As members of rci we have choices all over the world available to us. We choose Orange Lake not only because it is within driving distance from our home in sc., but because it is one of the best resorts for a great family vacation. Three of my family, including myself own at Orange Lake. Just a great place to vacation.
