Top Local Tips for Kissimmee

Quick way to Disney If you're in this area, and have a car, you can get on the Osceola Parkway from Poinciana. You do pay a 75-cent toll, but it may be easier. US 192 is very busy, lots of traffic and stop lights, and road construction at I-4. The Osceola Pkwy. has fewer lights, less traffic, and dead-ends into the Animal Kingdom. Plus it's easy to exit from that to go to other Disney parks.

Gift Shops There are a ton of gift shops around town, so you don't have to buy all of your souvenirs at Disney World. Also, we found some great flea markets near the resort.

Universal/Islands of Adventure This theme park combo does NOT offer the Express/Fast pass as does Disney. It does charge $36.00 extra dollard for both parks to obtain the pass. DON'T DO IT! I went ahead of many pass people only because I was a single rider (hubby hates roller coasters :( or just perfect timing. If you want to really enjoy your time at the above theme parks, get to the parking by 8:30am - it takes a long time to get to the gates - and then don't try to run to everything, just enjoy as you go along, Trust me, been there - done that. We had an absolute blast and never had a Fast pass. Got on all rides/attractions, etc.. Also, take frozen water/Capri sun drinks/whatever, Snacks, etc... One lady told me she / hubby and another couple spent $220.00 in one day at Disney for MEALS! Outrageous. We ate breakfast/ took our snacks. left for late lunch, came back for night entertainment or complete rides. And LAST BUT NOT LEAST - Parents - BE PATIENT with your children. It is hot in Orlando.
