Relaxation in Paradise

What a pleasant, relaxing property! We never imagined it to be as good as it was! The location was quiet but within a block of the "action" (duval). We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary there. It was very romantic and "upscale". The personnel were fabulous . We had any/all requests handled in minutes - bike rentals, snorkel trips, etc. Would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a classy, place to stay!

The personnel went to every extreme to help. Each employee we came in contact with were so friendly, kind and made us feel at home.

The environment was like that of paradise. The lush gardens, the pool, the rooms. NOTHING was lacking! Never have I stayed at an accommodation as excellent!

Lush, Serene Paradise in the Center of Key West

We were there for Columbus Day Weekend for my girlfriend's 30th birthday. You get the best of both worlds: only one block from the center of Duval Street, where all the action is happening; yet, secluded and private enough if you wish to get away from it all. (You would never know there was a world outside!) We stayed in an immaculate Courtyard Suite with a jacuzzi tub, Aveda products, and a front porch where we ate breakfast every morning. Absolutely stunning tropical grounds and pool. The staff was accommodating, cheerful, and helpful, recommending delicious food and fun activities to do. (They even allowed us to use the facilities during the day when our morning flight was bumped to an evening one.)Walking distance to all attractions and restaurants in Key West! I can't wait to return. Only stay there if you are looking for the best!

What a terrific place to call home during a visit to Key West. Absolutely gorgeous property, wonderful room and a staff that treats you like family. Jennifer - who was manning the front desk during our stay - couldn't have been more helpful. Where to go sea kayaking and snorkeling, we asked? One phone call and we were booked for the next afternoon. Bicycles, we asked? She had them there in less than 30 minutes. All this, and a beautiful, beautiful room. Thanks, Trip Advisor, for the heads up on this one!

A Halcyon Setting

My plans to visit a friend in FL were interrupted by Hurricane Frances. After 2 cancelled flights I finally arrived in Ft. Lauderdale. We had already made arrangements to stay at the Gardens Hotel and it was heavenly after the stress of travelling, no electricity and the ubiquitous hurricane reports.

A stay at the Gardens is the nicest way I can think of to be good to yourself. Our room was spacious, charming and welcoming. Breakfast on the patio each morning was perfect. Hot coffee, fresh fruit, the morning paper - it would be so easy to get used to this!

The grounds are lovely and being a photographer I snapped some interesting shots. The pool is so refreshing after a day of sightseeing or shopping.

We're making plans to return and enjoy everything all over again.

Our vacation started before we even got there! The Gardens staff, including the owner were refreshingly prompt and very professional while in direct contact with me to help plan our stay. As I emailed them from my static desk, my mind drifted to my imagined getaway. Once we arrived a very energentic concierge welcomed us and made us feel very at home. Our room was so romantic, filled with the flowers and champagne I ordered, it was so much more than I hoped for. Although we were evacuated from the island due to a hurricane, our one day stay was better than many other longer vacations we have had! We will definately be back, and we are bringing others with us to share in this rare, tropical treasure! You have got to see this place, you will not be disapointed.

My husband and I stayed at The Gardens Hotel in a courtyard room this past weekend (August 26-August 29 2004). The main house is absolutely gorgeous and the grounds and gardens are immaculately kept. It is amazingly tranquil and peaceful by the pool, and outdoor Jacuzzi. There is also a poolside bar with friendly bartenders. The rooms are truly in a league of their own. They are incredibly clean and so well decorated and themed that you forget you are in a hotel. The enormous king sized bed provided for the best nights sleep I had in weeks. The bathroom was large and the Jacuzzi tubs, although only large enough for one person, was very relaxing after a day of the Duval Crawl. The hotel is about a half a block from Duval Street on Angela. This is a perfect location as it is extremely central to all the main tourist attractions. The staff goes out of their way to be as accommodating as possible. The breakfast consists of pastries, fresh fruit, muffins and other fun goodies. I most definitely recommend this hotel. It was definitely well worth the money and we will most certainly stay at The Gardens Hotel on our next visit!

An overall excellent experience!

1) Staff were great to deal with and were helpful in every request.
2) Parking is Free.
3) Rooms and Bathroom were exceptionally clean and comfortable.
4) The gardens were in a great condition, wonderful for a walk in the morning.
5) The bartenders made great drinks that were not over priced.
6) Pool was never crowded nor was the jacuzzi.
7) Location is perfect, a minute to Duval Street, but you cant hear the noise from your room.
8) Breakfast was generous and delicous.

Breathtaking Grounds and Rooms

After having a disappointing start to our lodging in Key West, we found the Gardens Hotel! What a breath of fresh air. The grounds are what caught our eye, but when we saw the room, there was no comparison. The bed is luxurious, the bath with whirlpool was relaxing and the room is as clean as I've ever seen. The gardens are lovely and we simply enjoyed walking among the huge palms, blooming flowers and babbling waterfalls. The two cats were very friendly as well. The complimentary breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, juices, danish and coffee. After a full day of touring the city (all the highlights of Key West are within walking distance but away from the noise of Duval, which is only a block away), we enjoyed relaxing swims in the pool with a night time dip in the hot tub, which is large enough for six or more adults. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and we truly enjoyed visiting with them. I can't say enough about our experience at the Gardents Hotel. You will love it!

Top Local Tips for Key West

Do the Fury "Ultimate Adventure" We talked to a Fury staff member who was working at one of their booths on Duval Street. For $129 per person, we signed up for The Fury "Ultimate Adventure" which went from 10am - 4pm. It puts you on a large catamaran and takes you out for snorkeling, jet skis, parasailing, and sea kayaks, and gives you breakfast, lunch, and alcoholic beverages (only after you use the jet skis though!). Be warned that you don't get a lot of time on any one of these activities, but if you want a sampler of each, it's great. When we booked, they also threw in two free tickets for a sunset booze cruise for any day of the week we wanted to use it. A great bargain if you want to do some watersports, since any one of these activities is going to cost you $50 or more in Key West.

Daysails We enjoyed two different daysails on our trip that we would like to recommend. Our first trip was on the Echo 2 Catamaran. We went out for an afternoon to watch dolphins and stop at a snorkel stop. The crew was very accommodating and we had so much fun watching the dolphins. Where the crew decided to anchor the cat, we were able to see a lot of fish and even some nurse sharks while we were snorkeling. I highly recommend!! Our second trip was the Danger Charters Wind and Wine Sail. This is a great way to see a sunset, while sipping on a great glass of wine and enjoying hors d’oeuvres provided. This is a win, win!!

Best of Key West Hotel - Marquesa, Seafood Restaurant - 7Fish, Bistro Style Restaurant - Marquesa, Best Seafood with Waterviews - TurtleCrawls ... strongly recommend ordering Stone Crab - only available between Nov - May. It is AMAZING!!
