Nice place to stay

My husband and I took the Key West Express ferry from Ft. Meyers ($79.00 round trip) and stayed 3 nights at Key Lime Inn. We had a king bed with balcony on the second floor. The major downfall was our view, it overlooked the metal roof of one of the attached bungalows.

The breakfast was very basic with bagels, muffins, pastries and coffee/juice--not the best for low carbers. However, we didn't pick the Inn for that anyway, we wanted a place that would be close to entertainment, beaches, and shops--Key Lime Inn is conviently located to all of these.

The help were friendly. Even though we had to check out by 11 am, they allowed us to stay on premise as long as we needed for stall time before our ferry back to Ft. Meyers.

We are glad that we did not drive down to the Keys. The parking seemed to be horrible for those that did. We chose to rent a mo-ped (rentals are just up the street from the Inn). We saw the whole island this way and parked for free the whole time! The total amount for gas for two days of travel was $2.20--one gallon of gas!!!

We look forward to going back to Key West and staying again at Key Lime Inn.

Great rooms and pool

My boyfriend and I just got back from a 5 night stay at the Key Lime Inn. Our first three nights we were in the Deluxe King, we highly recommend this room, and the remaining two nights were spent in the Superior Queen. Both rooms were very nice and spacious. The King had a patio sitting area where as the Queen had a larger bathroom area. The King was a little cramped in the bathroom as thats where the fridge and coffee maker were located. The pool was much larger than we originally thought, however it was quite warm the entire time we were there. They have a continental breakfast every morning with basically the same selection of pastries. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel provides you with two pool towels that are large and soft. The only downside is the parking, there is not that much at all...but its not a problem if you get a scooter. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Its great for the budget minded. We did however feel a little young as the crowd tended to be mid to late forties to fifties.

Some restaurants and bars to consider while here are Carolines on Duval, Schooner's Warf, the Duval Beach House, Irish Kevin's, and for beaches Fort Zachary Taylor State Park.

My new husband and I stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon at the beginning of June 2004. The features that drew us to the Inn were the free parking (we drove from Miami), the chalet type rooms, the proximity to Duval Street and the value for money. The chalets were built in classic Key West style and the Superior Queen room that we stayed in was clean and spacious. The only drawbacks were the noisy air-con in the room and that the manager was stand-offish. However, the other members of staff were polite and helpful.

We enjoyed our time in Key West and would recommend this hotel.

Tranquil environment

The Key Lime Inn is a lovely place to vacation. We stayed for 3 nights in June, and were happy for the clean and quiet room. It does feel like a hotel room - there is not much character to make you feel like you are in Key West until you step out into the lovely landscaped gardens with the lush palm trees and flowering plants. It is so quiet & relaxing - our deluxe king room overlooked a nook with a hammock. The chickens and lizards are very entertaining. Breakfast by the pool is good - danishes, muffins, juice, coffee, bagels. You can bring your own tea bags and get hot water from the office. I can see that parking will be tight during the busiest times, but there is also street parking available. For the price $99-129 during the week (the same as other B&Bs on the island), I think it is a really good value. Another B&B we stayed in at the Southernmost Point was really not good in comparison- the bed sagged and the room was tiny. If you are going to Key West during a non-busy season, I'd recommend just walking up & asking to see the room if you are going the B&B route. All the B&Bs have a Vacancy sign outside. The rooms at the Key Lime Inn look just like their website ------------------------. You can also reserve your room online. We did not get a better deal by going in person to the inn, so you are safe to book through the site. The staff was friendly to us, except the manager seems to be a bit stand-offish. Oh, don't eat at Duffy's around the corner - it was overpriced and not very good food. Blue Heaven is supposed to be really good. Nice beach at the Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park (fee charged).

A great place and well worth the money. Unique accommodation and comfortabe rooms with breakfast around the nice pool. Good location also.

A Romantic Getaway

My wife and I spend two days here during a tour of Southern Forida for our silver wedding in March. I booked the king room with the wooden porch outside. The inn is within easy walking distance to Duval St but is far enough away to provide charm, peace and tranquility.
We watched the sunset at Malory Sq then ate at Duffy's steak house near the inn before retiring to said porch to relax, drink champayne and listen to the Westminster chimes of the local church.

The inn was impeccable, the staff helpful and the breakfast quite good. The pool was lovely and we were walking distance to Duvall Street. A very romantic stay with nothing but accolades for the place!!

We really enjoyed our stay! We were here for a week last October (before Fantasy Fest). My daughter was getting married and several family members and friends stayed here and they all enjoyed the stay.
The rooms were pleasant and clean, the staff was cordial and helpful, it is close enough to Duaval street yet far enough away that it is quiet. The continental breakfast was fine. We plan on staying here again.

The Key Lime Inn is a very attractive, clean, comfortable property located within walking distance of everything you would want to see and do in Key West. The prices are actually on the low side given its location and quality in Key West, and the parking lot is a big plus if you are arriving by car. Once you get there, you can park your car for free and just forget about it, because you won't need the car again until you leave the island. As I often find on tripadvisor, complaints you may see in other reviews about this place are overblown. While the staff is not grinning from ear to ear, it's clearly a cultural difference (they appear to be Eastern European, where it is simply not the norm to smile at strangers). They are very polite, pleasant, and professional, which is all one should expect. All in all, I highly recommend the Key Lime Inn, and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed 2 nights in early January. The room was clean and nicely decorated in a 1930s - 1940s motif. The front desk clerks were polite, but not too helpful. Parking is crowded, but workable. The location is good - it's about 4 blocks from Duval Street and 10 blocks from the "action" along the water.The only discount available is $10 for AAA members. You have to ask for the discount and show proof of membership.

Top Local Tips for Key West

If you aren't easily offended and like a good laugh... Go see Pete and Wayne perform at Sloppy Joes... check them out at www.peteandwayne.com. They are a musical comedy duo and are absolutely great. Rude crude humor so don't go if you're not into that sort of thing. We happened to go in Sloppy Joe's while they were playing and they were freakin' hilarious. We even bought some of their CD's to take home with us.

Take a sailing boat trip on a sunset cruise There are loads of boat trips out for the sunset cruise (5 - 7 pm) but we picked a lovely old schooner called Hindu with Captain Kevin and his all girl crew. It was lovely, free drinks and nice warm snacks and no one trying to make you sing or dance or get drunk , just very civilsed and a lovely way to enjoy a Key West sunset.

Great meal for the price. Half Shell Raw Bar is a great place to eat although a little noisy.
