Stayed at the Hyatt Resort & Marina mid April, attending a family wedding on Key West. Had to change rooms b/c of poor maintenance. Bathtub was very high & new caulking had been installed, which was not dry. Ended up w/caulking stuck to my legs & hands. SHower curtain was moldy & toilet ran. Called into maintenace to have corrected, they came, left a card saying all corrected -- BUT only the toilet was fixed! Had to demand another room & was accomodated only after insisting. Second room was fine. Another couple attending the wedding also had complaints about cleanliness of room and the height of the bathtub. The hotel restaurant was excellent for breakfast & dinner. Reserve a table on the deck and watch the beautiful sunset in the evening. Try the sweet potatoe & pecan encrusted seafood and the key lime pie.

STAYED HERE LAST MARCH 2004/

Bed was moldy and stinky, bathroom was filthy, pool was tiny and not inviting.

The rooms were plain and ugly.

About one of the worst hotels I ever stayed in--but this one was over 300 dollars a night!!!!

Really unbelievable---have stayed at nicer ECONO LODGES--

I called Hyatt and they refunded 100 dollars because the experience was so awful, and promised to investigate.

Other than this Hyatt---Have had GREAT experiences with the chain. HYATTS ARE GENERALLY VERY RELIABLE AND GOOD.

I was shocked.


Only stayed one night and checked out.

We just returned yesterday from a 4-night stay at the Hyatt Key West Resort and Marina. The location is great because the hotel pool and beach area are secluded enough to feel like you’ve got your own quaint little area to relax, however you are only steps away from as much crazy-fun as you can imagine. After checking in and seeing our “Courtyard View”, we nicely asked to be relocated to a pool/gulf view, and they immediately complied with our request. The staff was nice and friendly, and the grounds were very clean. We highly recommend it.

My wife and I made our 5th trip to Key West this past week (April 2004) and enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt. It combines Ocean Key like location, the Casa Marina shade/sun areas and the Reach quiet.

The rooms are fine (not as elaborate as the Ocean Key) but are roomy and even a city view room was ok (faced the courtyard). The staff was very friendly, not overly ambicious -- but this wasn't the 4 seasons and the rooms are priced within reach (and use priceline!)

As an experienced traveler to Key West, I would highly suggest this property and look forward to returning.

My husband, 3 year old son and myself just returned form a three night stay at this resort and were nicely suprised. I received this resort from priceline at $145 a night, and it was well worth it, we had a room on the 4th floor with a balcony view of the ocean. The rooms were quite large and a large bathroom. The resort was well kept and the grounds beautiful, the location of this resort is great, just a short walk to Duvall St and Mallory Square. They do charge a parking fee of $8, however so do all the other resorts. All in all we truly enjoyed our stay and would definately stay here again. May I add that the food is a bit high priced, and the beach area is REAL small as well as the pool.
(Get out early for a seat at the pool). For the price I felt we got ourselves a deal, as all the other oceanfront resorts in Key West start at $250 per night

We stayed at the Hyatt Key West early in January 2004. We had three rooms in our group.

The rooms were spacious and reasonably equipped, but the furnishings and linens were not as fresh as they might have been. We thought this gave it an old-fashioned resort feel that we didn't dislike.

Our room was next to construction at the beach next door, but that, of course, wouldn't affect future visitors. The noise wasn't dreadful and was confined to the work day.

The site is wonderful - our room faced the harbor, so we could watch boat traffic all day. Even the pool-view rooms see a the harbor in one direction.

The restaurant is imaginative, sitting on the deck by the water is a great option, and the prices are typical of KW upscale restaurants.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Hyatt this past fall to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We loved Key West and the hotel only added to our experience. We booked under the "sunshine on sale" promotion and paid about $200/night for a gulf view room. We had a beautiful room on the 4th floor with a small balcony overlooking the Gulf (and also another hotel). We also had wonderful views of the gulf, pool area and cruise ships when they were docked from our front door.
While small, the pool and grounds are very attractive --very Caribbean-- and we greatly enjoyed the hot tub and poolside bar service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not book any water activities through the hotel or eat there as it was considerably more expensive then some nearby places, but if you are looking for convenience it is definitely there. Only thing that needed improvement was the bathroom, particularly the shower area. While it was definitely large, it seemed a bit dated and in need of a face lift. If we get back to Key West, I would definitely stay at the Hyatt again.

My Vacation At The Hyatt Was Great!

Stayed in a suite on the 4th floor for 3 days over Thanksgiving Holiday and would not have changed a thing!!!! Near perfect experience, the bell boy was a wonderful help, the location was awesome, the watersports were great and right there at their dock, the maid service was not too early/not too late, hot tub and pool just right, and the restaurant was nice for morning breakfast on the deck overlooking the water. The only thing this place is lacking is a beach, but you can hop over to Smathers Beach for an afternoon if you want. Would I go again?

not worth the money

We were told we would receive a $100.00 credit to use at the hotel and then later told in order to receive it we would have to go to a time share meeting at their hotel. Our balcony faced construction and had to wake up to the sound of machinery early every morning. I was very disappointed.

A Beautiful Hotel

My Husband and myself spent Fantasyfest there last week. The Resort is a beautiful place to stay with picture perfect views of the gulf. Large carribean style rooms. A beach with water sports. A pool and pool bar.
We are planning to go back next year for Fantasyfest 2004. Can't wait.

Top Local Tips for Key West

Go to the bathroom before going through the security line. Stay at the Westin or rent a house if in Key West. ALso, be aware that the Key West Airport has no bathroom facilities after you go through security. We were through security and still had over an hour to wait before our flight. There was a sign after we were in the waiting area saying that there were no bathrooms inside the waiting area. You could go out and come back in, but it was a crowded day at the airport and the security line was way too long to go out and get back in time for your flight. I suggest, they get some port-a -potties to put in that area. There are a lot of older people there and I don't know how they get away with this........

No need for a car! The hotel is super close to Duval St. and is within walking distance to almost everything.

FAMILY VACATIONER MAKE SURE SERVICE IS AVAILABLE FOR ALL ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. WE ARRIVED AT A REASONABLE HOUR, 3:30PM AND DEPARTED AT 10:00AM WITHOUT ANY ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE OR OFFERED. WE'VE NEVER HAD THIS LACK OF SERVICE ANYWHERE EVER BEFORE.
