I've stayed at the Eden House Hotel a fair number of times over the past 20 years, and it's amazing how something so good keeps getting better. The hotel is a great place to unwind and enjoy Key West. The grounds and pool are relaxing, and Duval Street is just a short stroll away. The staff are great, the pool is great, the price is right. The best place to stay in Key West, hands down.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Eden House Hotel

Very Very Average!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Something fishy on these reviews. I stayed there and it was just okay.
The rooms are very average. Most running on the very small size.
Basically 4 walls and a bed. The pool is small and only has 12 lounge
chairs around it. Guests go out and put their towels on the chairs
early then take off for the day so the 12 lounge chairs are hard to
come by. With 40 rooms that is hardly enough. If you like sun at the
pool forget it. The pool has very little sun as the trees shade most of
the pool area. The so called sun deck is really a piece of work. It is
away from the pool and overlooks a small parking lot and a dumpster.
The pool was not very clean. There are approx. 12 surface skimmers
around the pool and I never saw one working. In the afternoon you could
see the film from the sun screen on people on the surface of the water.
At night with the lights on inside the pool you could see the water had
a milky color from all this sun screen buildup because the skimmers
were never on. The cocktail hour was really funny. A bottle of rum, gin
and vodka, cheap no-name brands, are put out for one hour with a few
chasers. Yum, yum help yourself. How this is getting all these rave
reviews is really fishy to me. It is very very average.

I am very sorry you had such a TERRIBLE stay with us. From the sounds of things, we could not have made things right. We could and would have refunded your money so you could have found accommodations more to your liking. Our policy has always been that if a guest is not happy then they should not be here. A refund is given no questions asked. Our guests comfort and happiness is most important to us. We are not for everyone and we can live with this fact.As far as something being fishy I can assure you that the guest's comments are not fabricated or solicited. If you would note, several of the reviews have names and email addresses. Why not check with them? The guest comments on our web page have everyone's name and email address, you can contact them if you like. My advice to you would be to never stay in a place that you don't like - life is too short.

Should have written sooner

My wife and I stayed at the Eden House in August, and would rate it at the top of our vacation list...as written here many times Mike and the staff make the stay what a vacation should be....wonderful....they are happy to give suggestions for dining(perfect each and every time) and the feeling one gets after just a bit of time is that you are a welcome guest, not just a paying customer....I look forward to returning

The Best True Key West Experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
THis Hotel is one of the most authentic Key West experiences that you can have. I was down in Key West in the 80's and it was such a great place, but lately so many of the old hotels, and areas of town have become Corporate chains. They have sold out to the same mass produced vacations as most of the rest of Florida. I'm glad to see that some places can keep thier attitude, and atmosphere. Thanks Eden House.

Nice Hotel

I just returned back from my first vacation in the Keys. I had no idea what to expect when I booked Eden House, although I had used this site for guidence. The hotel was very nice, the staff was wonderful and the loaction was great. Close to Duval Street but far enough away that you feel that you are in a tropical paradise. The only one complaint that I have was how small the room was. I stayed on the second floor(room w/private bathroom) overlooking the pool. The room was clean and bright, however very tiny for two people. If you are planning to spend any time in your room I would suggest seeing what other rooms are available. Also note that there was no television or alarm clock in the room. I would definitly stay at Eden House again, however I will be upgrading to a suite.

The Eden House was Great!

from tart2422
My boyfriend and I just came back from our first stay at the Eden house. We have been to Key West many times and always stayed at the chain hotels. I read some many great reviews I decided to take a chance and stay at the Eden house and I was glad I did. The staff were so nice and the hotel was beautiful. It was very relaxing to find a hammock and take a nice nap in the middle of the day. Next time I go to Key West I will definently be staying at the Eden house.

ve found a home at Eden House.

The property is located in a great area, close enough to Duval St. when the sun goes down, far enough away to rest after a night of the "Duval Crawl". Just steps from your room, Club Med is an EXCELLENT restaurant and offers a fine dining experience, excellent staff and nice wine list. The staff and Mike are tops at Eden House. The accomodations are good, the lush grounds and water features create a "tropical paradise".
At happy hour the guests always seem to gather each day to socialize.
We met some wonderful people from N.C. and enjoyed them so much we went to dinner together, exchanged email and phone numbers, and will forever remember a great time. As frequent Key West visitors, we had normally stayed at a very famous hotel on Duval St., but now we've found a home at Eden House.

Eden House was wonderful!

from jnet26
Stayed at Eden House after reading the reviews on this site and it was as wonderful as all of the reviews described. We only had two nights in Key West before moving on to other places in the Keys but at the end of the trip my boyfriend and I decided that we should have stayed at least one more day at the Eden House! It was quite, clean, and the people there were really friendly and helpful. If I had any complaints at all it would be that it was a bit further from the action on Duval than some of the other hotels -- but in many ways that was also a nice thing about the location; we could get away when we wanted.I'd love to go back!

Tropical Paradise

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Eden House is a wonderful place to relax and unwind in paradise, it is quiet and charming. You will feel at home at the Eden House and not like you are staying at an hotel. The hammock area is a great place to lay around and read a good book. Just make sure you are around for happy hour at the pool. We enjoyed ourselves so much just relaxing in the Eden House atmosphere. Also make sure that you seek out Mike and get the low down on where to eat, he will definately point you in the right direction.

truly paradise

we found the eden house via the web and were so amazingly surprised and pleased by what we found there. we spent our honeymoon there, a vacation 4 years later and right now, we're planning another trip for the winter. you can party your hearts content on duvall but when you're ready to settle down for some down time, the eden house is the place.
mike and his staff have made us feel right at home at his place. if you get a chance - you must go.

Top Local Tips for Key West

Danger Cruises We have done a trip with Danger every year...from skorkle, kayak trip to jthe Wind and WIne...and everytime we laugh at the huge impersonal cattle boats crammed full of folks as we sail by with our small group leaving the harbor. Their crews are fun and friendly and the boats are lovely!

If you just can't drag yourself away from your lounge chair...... call Damn Good Food to Go. Extensive menu and excellent food and service.

Where We Ate Pepe's had wonderful breakfast. Jose's Cantina had delicious authentic Cuban food. Cafe Med was lovely, and is right next door.
