I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Key Largo and their on site restaurant, Bogie's Cafe, really blew me away. We were in town for three nights and after having dinner at Bogie's the first night, we didn't seek out any other restaurant for our entire trip. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. They had live music and fabulous drinks at the tiki bar. The manager even special ordered a lobster dinner for my wife and I on our anniversary. If you take a trip to Key Largo, don't overlook Bogie's cafe, top notch!!

Nice facilities

from BuckeyeJim71
We just spent one night here on the way back from Key West but found the facility much to our liking. We enjoyed the Tiki bar overlooking the pool area and found the hotel to be convenient to several nice restaurants. For those that would be interested, they provide free tickets with your stay to the Casino boat that departs from the hotel several times per day.

Very Nice Hotel

Stayed here one night in Februay 05. Rooms were clean and service very good. Seems to be a popular hotel, with most of the people spending just a night as they go or down the Keys.

OK, but the pool was dirty and unsafe

from aejk
The room was OK, but the pool was dirty and had an underwater light that had come loose and was floating by its cable!

Best hotel of our tour of Florida

from John6
We've just returned from touring Florida and this was by far the most pleasant hotel we stayed in. There are plenty of facilities on-site or nearby. The restaurant was excellent and we greatly enjoyed eating al fresco in the hotel's jungle garden. The launch from 'On Golden Pond' is right by the pool and the 'African Queen' from the film of the same name is in the adjacent marina.

good times

we had 6 days at holiday inn & the whole family really enjojed the hotel & facilitys,
the only down side with most hotels in key largo is the lack of beach access, but that aside the 2 pools are realy nice & clean as were the rooms, the dock side location is nice & relaxed.

Overall some of the other Keys island look a bit smarter & Key largo seems quite 'tired' compaired to the rest of the Keys

The pilots house eating place just a few blocks back from the Holiday Inns is realy good as is the hotel food in the Tiki bar, & the Publix supermarket about 1 mile north is good to stock up on items.

We all had a geat time at the dolphin reseach center, around a 1 hr drive south, with dolphin swimming in a sea lagoon, very natural location &, something our 9 and 7y ear olds will talk about for a long time to come . Book in advance if you can to be sure of a space, if not turn up on the day

Overall a great time & good location in the Keys, but the gulf coast resorts a few hours away are more upmarket & just as relaxed

Booking direct on the Hoilday Inn website a far in advance as possible seems to give you the best rates

Chill out at this lovely hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We only stayed overnight at this hotel so didn't get the opportunity to take advantage of all the resort had to offer. However what we can tell any visitor, the rooms are lovely, the pool is great, the food in the restaurant is delicious and we would definately visit again but next time I will cover myself in anti-mosquito spray as both my husband and I got quite badly bitten whilst sunbathing round the pool. The only other point I would change ....I would take a room round the pool, ours was overlooking the car park

absolutely awesome

What a perfect place to let go! 2 pools to choose from. A waterfall pool next to the tiki hut bar with live entertainment ; it doesn't get much better. The rooms were very well maintained and appeared to be newly decorated and had a classy floridian touch. We stayed there 3 days and it was perfect! The fish house prepared our tuna we caught from a local charter it was great! Visit the islamorada fish company nearby too, it is next door to the worldwide fishing tackle co. -a must see for any guy and great for kids too neat aquarium inside. Skip holiday isle by all means -big tourist trap!!

Wow!An incredible value for our family of four!We loved it!

My husband, myself, and my 2 boys, aged 11 and 8 stayed at the Holiday Inn from June 19-June 23rd,and then again on June 25th through the 27th.We reserved our room through the Holiday Inn website for $90.35 per night, and folks...let me tell you...for $90 bucks a night,it was all you could ask for. It's clean,I requested poolside with extra pillows and a refridgerator and it was all there when we arrived. There are 2 pools-1 is just your basic pool...the other has a little waterfall and is only about 5' deep at the most the kids love it.situated between the 2 pools is a nice,good-sized tiki bar with 4 other tiki huts(for shade_)situated around it and the pools.also plenty of lounge chairs. We never had a problem finding a seat at the bar or anytime of the day or night. While you have your cocktails you can have a birdseye veiw of both pools and the hot tub while your kids swim. When you are hungry, the restaurant has awesome food. For lunch,I loved their ceasar salads, which were huge and just $5.00.My husband also had the natchos and our friends, whom we met there as planned had burgers and the chichken salad. All of these were tasty and reasonable, and as long as a parent is eating,up to 4 children 12 and under eat all of their favorite foods for free! You can't beat that folks! My 11 year old got his open water referral to complete his scuba diving course right there at the marina next door from a company called BLUE WATER DIVERS.Brent and Natalie are especially great with children.I recommend this company and we are already planning a trip back.We snorkled and dove with them for 2 days on a nice boat that accomadated just 12 people so no herds of cattle there.
Our room was very comfortable and roomy for the four of us.They will provide anything you may have left free of charge,i.e....razors,shampoo,conditioner,etc....and the room toiletries are all nuetrogena,so I was impressed that i would not break out if i actually had to use them!
There were only a couple of downfalls to our visit there, which I think everyone should be aware of....first...if you are a big partier....this place only has music on the weekends and that starts at 12 noon and stops at the stroke of 9pm.They also stop serving dinner at 9,so if you are having a big time at the bar,and time gets away from you,you may have to order pizza in from the infamous TOWER PIZZA like we did!The bar closes at the stroke of 11,and like all things in the keys....they are in no hurry to serve your drinks. We ended up buying a styrfoam cooler and keeping our drinks in there.(No one cares, and many many do it!)
The other unfortunate incident we had was on our last night there. My husband did not feel great so i took the children to eat at the outside portion of the restaurant. This was a Sat.night and they had one waitress who disappeared for the majority of our visit.I finally had to get up ,go inside to the kitchen and hunt the cook down...who then came out and brought us our menu and thus forward was our waiter/chef/busboy.It was ridiculous....but the mahi mahi is wonderful and so is the grouper. It wasn't the chefs fault, but management needed to jump in in do the job.Well we got through the dinner with our mood still in tact and retired for the night.I signed the bill to our room as i often do when traveling. The next morning I went to check out and to my dismay ...saw a charge from the restaurant for $50.00 more!!! than i had authorized with my signature.I questioned the charge and waited patiently as the gal at the desk searched through all of the previous nights receipts for mine.Upon examination of mine was the original signed receipt with the correct amount on it,and the one that had been submitted with an additional $50.00 charge. The front desk clerk was very apologetic and removed the charge, but I highly suggest everyone request copies of their food receipts if charging to your room and check your final bill before check out.I have a strong suspicion that I am not the first nor
will i be the last person who will be padded for an extra large substantial tip from this restaurant.Just beware. If that had not happened,i think I would have been truly pleased with the whole experience here.We would definetely stay here again,we will just watch our charges closely!

Glad we chose this place!

The location was very good. Could walk to eat at Galley's which is around the corner (past coconuts!) Also walked out to marina to book our snorkeling trip with Quicksilver on the catamaran. We took the 9 am trip & the trip out and back on the catamaran was great in itself. The staff was helpful and fun. The hotel room was super, on the backside parking lot. there are 2 pools and sitting outside at night in the tiki bar area is very relaxing hearing the waterfall of the pool. the breakfast was convenient and good. The hotel staff was wonderful. To see sunset you will have to go to other side and we went down to MM80 restaurant for the view.

Top Local Tips for Jacksonville Beach

be sure to book something in advance I made the mistake of thinking I could find something in early March the day of arrival. We ended up spending $250 for a room that was probably worth $100.

Docs Diner Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Everglades Use this hotel as a base for exploring the Everglades. 1hr drive away, and much, much better than staying at Florida City (which is just a collection of travel hotels & fast food joints).
