Empty beaches, beautifully planned community/highways We were so impressed with Jacksonville and the surrounding beach areas that we would seriously consider moving there - if our 20+ year old girls would come w/us! It's absolutely beautiful! Water everywhere, trees everywhere, communities spread out - nothing like California!! The beaches were virtually empty, beautiful and warm - again, so unlike California. California is so overrated after visiting Jacksonville and we're San Diego natives. We spent an entire day in St. Augustine and highly recommend the trolley tour - you can get off & on all day and they have 19 stops - the only way to see everything. Daytona Beach was about and hour & a half away and we just mosied down the coast not really intending to go there but glad we did. It was fun to walk out on the beach that they hold so many events at - I don't like vehicles on the beach however - that is one thing San Diego does right, people only on the beach:) We're not NASCAR fans particularly but it was fun to see the Speedway
