Do NOT stay at this hotel!

This hotel was bad from the get go. Myself and my mother were driving down from Orlando to stay at the hotel for the weekend (I was a guest at a con being held at the resort).
The first clue that this hotel was bad news was the directions the hotel gave on their website. They caused me to get turned around at least twice. Finally, I found the place and pulled in. My first impression (seeing that the place had construction going on outside) should have set off alarm bells in my head that this was NOT the place to stay, but after driving almost four hours, I was tired and just wanted to get settled into my room. I pulled up to the front of the hotel so I could go inside to check in. As I was checking in, I was told that I HAD to valet park my car. This was the ONLY option. As a hotel guest, paying over $100 per night, I HAD to pay $12 a day to park my car. Talk about crap. To say I was mad would be an understatement. No one tells you this when you are on the phone booking your reservation, oh no. So, after arguing that I was there for an event and that I was supposed to be able to park for $4 a day, I relented and decided to valet the car and deal with it in the morning with the con organizer.
Then, I told the hotel bellman that I didn't have the money to pay anyone to take my and my mothers bags up to the room, so could I just use one of the carts? The bellman went on a ranting about how it's illegal to allow a guest to use the carts alone and that the hotel had only four of them (four carts for a hotel that has 8 floors?) and basically told me he would just help me out. Of course, once we got up to my room, he stood there hoovering, awaiting a tip for his help.
Upon arriving at the room, we learned that one of the room keys didn't work which was lovely of course. Then, we checked out our quarters for the weekend. The place was filthy. The air vents were dirty, the chairs had white stains all over them, the microwave had food spots caked inside, and not only was the TV dirty, it was the poorest excuse for a hotel TV I've ever seen. It was just 19" which is much smaller than any of my tvs at home. As we were unpacking, we started to smell smoke and noted an ash tray on the table. I was promised when I reserved and checked in that the room was non-smoking. It was anything but. So, I called down to the front desk requesting a room change. I could not, nor could my mother with our allergies deal with this smell all weekend. I was told that I would be called back in a few minutes once she spoke to the manager. After not hearing from the desk 15 minutes later, I again called the desk. This time I was beginning to lose my patience. I wanted a room change and some sort of compensation for how bad this place was and I wasn't going to wait for much longer. Finally, on the third phone call, I was told that the manager agreed to move us to a non-smoking room and to take off the parking charges for our problems. The desk would send down the bellman to help us move up three floors to our new room.
So....another 15 minutes later, we finally hear a knock at the door and it's the bellman. He basically tosses our luggage and belongings onto the cart and proceeds to run, yes RUN down the hallway to the elevator, all the while my mom and I are trying to follow him, as we have no clue which room we are going to (not to mention my laptop was on the cart, so I didn't want it to be out of my sight). We get into the elevator and once we hit the new floor, he again proceeds to run down the hallway with our stuff. What an idiot. I was pissed. Who did he think he was?
Anyway, we get to the room and he puts our stuff inside, hands me the keys and takes off. This room IS better than the other. The place looks cleaner and the TV is actually larger. It's still a bit dumpy looking, but it's definitely better than the one we were in previously.
Bottom line here, I heard NOTHING but complaints from my friends and other fellow convention guests and even con-goers about this hotel. It's old, and the people don't take any kind of good care of it, and futhermore, they don't care about the guests at all (don't even get me started on the garage employee, he was anything but friendly). Save yourself a lot of heartache and do NOT stay at the Ramada Hollywood Beach Resort.

Not a place to relax!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I took our honeymoon at this resort January 03-January 10, 2004. What a nightmare! The staff was very unfriendly the hotel was dirty and the floors were so nasty "do not walk bare foot on them" when we arrived at our room it had a horrible smell and the a/c was noisey, the window was broke, the toilet didn't flush! The hallways were dark and gloomy, no movie theatres like in a description I had read over the internet, not a whole lot of shops and there was a boardwalk but it was dirty and every where there was to eat was pretty dirty as well. The beach was nasty, I could not walk bare foot on the beach. There was nothing nearby to do. The hotel was very unsafe, if there was a fire you would have to take an elevator (which I thought you were not suppose to do) because the stairway was locked from the 4th floor, we were on the 6th floor so we could only make it to the 4th floor and then we would have been locked out??? It had a big notice on our 6th floor stairwell that you could only get to the 4th floor using the stairs. In our room the coush had stains on it the sheets smelled of stale cigarrettes and the refrigerator smelled so bad! Just be warned this place is not what it seems! It needs major cleaning and attention!
Oh and also there is lots of construction going on so you will be awake every morning by 6:00AM with loud noises on the rooftop! Not a place to relax and get away!!!!

Customer service is a joke!

It's too bad that the Ramada Inn Hollywood Beach was such a disappointment because the building is a wonderful example for FL art deco. But that's where it ends!

The hotel was undergoing major construction last November when I stayed there, which started very early in the morning. Had we been told about this at check in, we would have requested a room away from this area.
The hotel was nowhere close to being full and we could have easily gotten another room. The room was dirty and was never cleaned during our stay.

Customer service at this hotel is non-existent. The front desk night manager called us at 2:00am to tell us to keep the noise down. I told him that we had been sound asleep for two hours already. Apparently someone complained about party on our floor, and the manager called us randomly without even bothering to come to our floor and find out where the noise was coming from!

The free breakfast buffet is not even worth it. The food was terrible and service even worse.

A friend of ours was staying on the same floor. He had also had trouble with construction noise and moved to another room. On the day of check out, he asked if his bag could be kept at the front desk so that he could enjoy the pool for a few hours before leaving for a late afternoon flight. He was told that this couldn't be done. He asked if they might do it in compensation for the disturbance he'd had from the construction. The manager told him that customers are never compensated, and if they don't like the hotel, they're free to leave any time they want! A great policy for a hotel, isn't it?

Great Deal and Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
This resort based on the contrary of what I've read is a great deal and a great location. I travel twice a month and enjoyed having my own kitchen as well as the different food facilities at this hotel. If your looking for a great pool, patio bar with a band, a beach, close to everything and a warm staff you can't beat it for the price. This hotel also offered a great continental breakfast and shuttle service . I do admit the first room was not to my liking but the staff immediately accomodated me accordingly. The concierge meets the level of most 5 stars hotels I've stayed in. I'll definitely use this hotel again.

t even think about it!

Booked a four day trip here at this hotel. upon arrival the receptionist told me I did not have a reservation (even though I had a reciept printed out) and proceeded to tell me that she could accomodate me but in a much mor "expensive" room. After an argument, I was shown several rooms, each one dirtier than the first, furnishings lookeded lilke a frat house! By then I was so offended I left. The Management were less than accomodating. Avoid this and go to the Hollywood Beach Holiday Inn.My first choice always when I go to Hollywood, only it was booked that weekend!) It is the best moderately priced hotel in the area, well run, accomodating staff and clean!

Afraid to walk bare foot or touch any surface

The room was dirty and the paint was peeling off the ceiling and walls.
The wood work was filthy and the tub retained water.

The halls smelled and the breakfast area had cigarette butts everywhere. The windows are so dirty one can't see through them.

The dresser in the room when opened smelled like BO.

I was soooo grossed out. NEVER AGAIN!

You have been warned

Arrived into Hollywood after a drive from Orlando looking for a room for the night. The receptionist told me that it would be $85. I told her that it was too much and turned to leave. Then she said $60. This desperate and cheap ploy should have started the alarm bells. It didn't. The room was dirty, cold, cheap. Smell of urine and dogs in he corridor. The location is, however, excellent with a great outdoor bar facing the beach. 7.30 next morning the building work started. We complained. We were told that we should have been informed that they was construction on the roof. They did offer us a discounted rate if we stayed again (which we will NOT be using). Worst hotel I have ever been in. Am writing to Ramada as well, as their name does not deserve to be over this hotel. It was the only reason we picked it out. I told the manager I was going to write a review in Tripadvisor.

The Pool Attendant Badgered us!

from A TripAdvisor Member
All of the negative ratings about the urine smell, the sick conditions and the POOR customer service are true.(Did I forget to tell you about the DEAD ROACH near the mall area?)

So here's our sicko story: The pool attendant( a foreign guy) accused us of stealing a towel. We did not steal any towels. So my sister pleaded with him to recount the towels. The stupid attendant would not listen to us and told us to talk to the manager.

We went to the manager. We told him that we didn't take any towels! We asked him to phone the pool attendant. The Manager said: "Let him phone me!"

Finally, a lady working at the pool came up to us and told us she had just finished a towel count and that they were no towels missing. We would not be charged.

The next day my mom was in the hotel's restaurant for breakfast. The pool attendant came up to her again and started HARRASSING HER ABOUT THE TOWEL SHE DIDN'T STEAL.

So this is what it comes down to...they harrass guests and treat their cockroaches better they then their paying cliental.

...At least the cockroaches get free food....

I went to visit family in April 2003, and decided to book at this hotel because the price was reasonable and it was given 3 stars on the web sight we used. We stayed 3 of 7 days and ran from there. First, the room we rented was so tiny there was no room to put up a pack and play.
There was a kitchen, with a large wall to seperate it from the rest of the room, which took up most of the space. The tv was very tiny, and mounted on the ceiling aboue the head of the bed. If you wanted to watch you needed to sit at the foot of the bed and wrench your neck up-very painful after a few minutes. Plus only a few channels worked.
The room was not clean at all and floor always felt dirty- even after maid service was finished . Finally when we complained about everything we got a "deal with it attitude". After 3 days we cancelled the rest of our reservation and book with another hotel down the street.
