This hotel tops any other hotel expierience I have ever had. The rooms are breathtaking, the staff is always smiling and asking how your stay is. The food is exceptional, whether you're ordering food from room service or eating at Trina's, you will be surprised at the quality of everything you eat. The ocean view is also breathtaking. I will be coming back to Fort Lauderdale just to stay in this little piece of heaven.

Fun vacation!

We recently stayed at The Atlantic with our infant child. I would have to agree with the majority of the reviews here that this is a fantastic option in Fort Lauderdale/Florida but doesnt quite reach the service of a St Regis/Four Seasons etc. We truly had a wonderful time and it is a beautiful property, but there were just a few things that kept it from being perfect (nothing ever is right?)

The staff was excellent. The majority of the reception staff were very attentive and polite. The bellmen were FANTASTIC. They were always there with a smile and actually a better source of information than some of the other staffmembers! And the restaurant staff at Trina were wonderful as well...they were really friendly, accomodating...they helped us sit in the best place for our baby, etc. The pool staff were ok...friendly but fairly slow and inefficient. Oh yes, and housekeeping was generally good too, although one day we asked the front desk to have the room made up while were gone all morning so we could come back in the afternoon and give the baby a nap and although they had several hours to do so they didnt and then they said they could only do turndown service b/c the housekeeping staff was gone by 5:00 when she woke up...i understand there are sometimes mixups but this oversight wouldnt happen at a St Regis for instance. The staff also had a problem when we asked for a late checkout at 2...even though we are Platinum Starwood members they said they were too busy to allow us the extra time..i found this rude as while I understand they were busy, checkin time was at 3 and they could have saved our room for last...it seemed that they didnt have an efficient plan for housekeeping. Not to mention we waited 25 minutes at checkin for them to finally tell us that the room we were to have was not ready because the person had not checked out at 3:30 pm.

The rooms were great. We had a suite overlooking the ocean with a great balcony. It was perfect for sitting outside in the evenings. The sun goes off the balconies by about 2 pm so until then it is quite hot out there...but also perfect in the am for coffee!! The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms big...huge showers!!! Having a full kitchen was great but the hotel provides absolutely NO amenities...so bring a little dishwasher soap/paper towels etc if you plan on using the kitchen at all or be prepared to have to walk to get some. Speaking of which there is a great food market--Wild Oats within about a mile of the hotel--ask at the front desk how to get there. There is a starbucks near there too...a good walk.

The pool is small but very nicely set up. It can get crowded up there (its on the 5th floor) but there was never a problem getting a seat. It is a great place to have a drink at 5 when most have gone in but the view of the ocean was beautiful. The beach was nice...very clean especially considering the amount of college spring breakers around.

The food at Trina was very good...we especially enjoyed the flatbread pizzas as an appetizer.

With regards to some of the other reviews saying this is a rundown area or not luxury...the truth is this is Fort Lauderdale not the Fiji Islands...it is a spring breaky, more urban , different atmosphere from some other "resorts" you may have been. But if you go with realistic expectations of Fort Lauderdale it is a wonderful option for a vacation. Yes, there is a road between the hotel and the beach...but it is only 4 lanes with a boulevard and very easy to cross at the stoplights (even with a stroller). This road runs up and down much of this area of Fla...if you dont like it go to the west coast of Fla (Naples, Sanibel) where it isnt that way. There is alot of transition going on there now...Trump Towers, St Regis and W are all going in within a few blocks.

One other note...the concierge said it was too far to walk to the Las Olas Area but we did it anyway and if you are a walker it is a great little jaunt. It took us about an hour on foot to get there...it is a nice walk over the intercoastal walkways, and when you get to the shopping district on Las Olas it is well worth it. Grab brunch or lunch at The Flo...it was fun!

Overall we enjoyed it and would go back again most definitely.

Loved the dining room Trina

from pwrshift
We toured the hotel but didn't stay there. The pool is nothing more than a small lap pool - quite surprising - and the sun deck very small. Modern decor lobby. We were there only for dinner at Trina's and enjoyed it very much. For two, we spent $150, including $34 for wine (huge selection). Start with their Rock Lobster Flatbread ($14) which is much like a small thin pizza loaded with tasty shrimps - just great. We followed with Octopus appetizer (also great) for $11. Swordfish dinner ($25) a bit better than the Grouper $26. Choc. tart was OK. Tia Maria was generous but $12 ea - actually all their mixed drinks are very expensive for this area. Restaurant was full by 8 pm. Large noisy bar - we went outside for pre-dinner drinks and watched the traffic and beachfront. We'd go back for dinner for sure. Fort Lauderdale's beachfront is under major development right now and the Atlantic is the first of many upscale hotels going in, which includes the St. Regis, The W Hotel, Hilton's Q Club, and Trump Towers.

Quiet and Classy

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Atlantic in December with our two small children. The room was tasteful and the small kitchen was perfect for breakfast and lunches. The quality and the comfort of the bedding and furnishings are top notch. Other reviews are right saying this is not a resort, but an upscale, quality hotel.

Many of the surrounding properties are being torn down and replaced by luxury hotels, so it is an area in transition. Ft Lauderdale Beach is not South Beach, but we found it to be perfect for a relaxing vacation.

A great hotel

We spent two nights in the Atlantic on the 17th and 18th of January. The hotel is stunning (more on the inside than out), and the staff are truly outstanding. Thorougly recommend it.

A great place to relax.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Atlantic for 5 nights and our Luxury suite was wonderful. The kitchen was well equipped, (I think that the facilities in the deluxe rooms are a little more sparse but they do have a stove top and small refrigerator) the bathroom with separate glassed-in shower and Jacuzzi tub where nice, double sink, private WC and walk-in closet where roomy and comfortable. The only complaint I would have about the bathroom is the lack of a light in the closet. The living room had two chairs, a couch and a table for four people. We had our in-laws staying with us in another room and they spent most of their free time in our room and we were never once crowded. Our balcony was also huge and would accommodate a group of 15 people at cocktail hour easily.

We didn’t purchase any spa services but the fitness area was well equipped and the equipment was new and in good shape. They have separate locker rooms for men and women, available to anyone, with each connected to a whirlpool, steam room, and sauna.

Mark at the concierge desk helped us with our Sunday brunch reservations at the Blue Moon Fish Co., and it is worth every penny. You must make reservations in advance, and make sure you get a table that is outside, which is much less crowded, covered and much more relaxing because the restaurant is on the Intracoastal Waterway; watching the yachts pass by is fun.

The front desk, bell and valet staff were all very helpful and went out of their way to help us and make sure our stay was enjoyable.

We didn’t eat in the restaurant, but the bar was a lot of fun. (Great Wine List)

The hotel is within walking distance to a number of shops, restaurants and nightlife. Access to the beach was very easy and not that dangerous in my opinion. I was nervous about this because I had read a review that stated some negative things about beach access, but crossing A1A was not a hassle and the beach was in great shape.

All in all the stay was wonderful. I agree with the previous writer that this is not a typical resort so to speak, I think kids would get bored rather easily. If you can't go to the beach or get out of the hotel then there is not much for the kids to do. But, it is a great place to relax for adults. I would recommend to anyone that they stay here, and I will definitely visit the Atlantic again.

Please feel free to E-Mail me if you have any questions.

Very classy hotel

from mdickow
Thought this hotel was very nice. We had a King suite with a living room and kitchen with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. We had dinner in the Trina restaurant one night. The service was a little slow but the wait staff very pleasant so it made up for it.
The location was perfect. We walked everyday to restaurants and shopping- and we were only a few blocks from a water taxi stop that takes you on the intracoastal to more cafes and shopping on Los Olas. The pool area was very nice and clean and we could walk right across the street to the beach (the hotel will let you use beach towels.) The spa was small but adequate. I would definetley go back there again.
Great service!

Very posh; expensive incidentals; not a resort

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed here last week using Starwood points, which was a great deal considering their regular rates.

PROS: The room was huge, overlooking the beach; awesome bathroom with big tub, shower, two sinks and private WC; nice, fully appointed galley kitchen; HUGE TV, beds and pillows were very plush and comfortable; service was prompt and friendly; they checked us in right away when I arrived exhausted at 9 a.m., which I appreciated. Very nice gym, lovely spa, and pleasant pool area.

CONS: Pool area is a bit small, and most of it becomes shaded by about 2 p.m (at least in January) since the sun gets blocked by the building. The hotel will give you towels to go across to the beach, but chairs (rented by the city) are $5 a piece and umbrellas are $10, so a couple will be paying extra $20 per day if they want to spend any time on the beach. You'll be charged a lot for everything, including parking, and things like "delivery fees" added to room service bill on top of the usual "service fee". Wireless internet was hit-or-miss in the room. You will not get cel phone servie in the hotel due to vaultlike reinforced steel construction (which makes the place hurricane-resistant, but also expensive if you need to use the phone -- ended up paying over $50 for 4 SHORT calls to Miami). I did end up getting get cel service at the pool, though.

I would descibe The Altantic as a sleek, pleasant luxury hotel similar to the good hotels in South Beach, but NOT a resort property.

This is a great property!

We had a huge suite with living room with balcony, bedroom with dressing area and huge bathroom and foyer. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. The restaurant, Trina, was also wonderful. It's right across the street from the beach and the pool/spa is on the 5th level overlooking the beach. Only negative was the maid service was a little spotty, had to call twice to have room made up and then the maid knocked on the door at 8:30am the last day.

Nice hotel but no Four Seasons

from A TripAdvisor Member
Recently stayed here for 2 nights. The property and rooms are great but service is lacking, especially in the restaurant Trina.

*used utensils from previous guest(?) left on balcony
*sticky substance on the floor in room
*duplicate charges from food outlet on two occasions
*charged for honor bar when I did not consume anything in the room.
*consistently had to request that coffee be refilled at breakfast
*dinner reservation for 9:00 but was not seated until 9:30
*after being seated bread and drinks took 20 minutes to arrive at table
*SPG points did not post to account correctly
[/list]
I would stay here again, but lower my expectations. I figured that the hotel being under the luxury collection flag would be on par with a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. The Bellman, Bryan, was the only individual who stood out.

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Take the water-taxi to downtown Fort Lauderdale The water taxi is an easy and convenient way to get to downtown Fort Lauderdale and Las Olas Boulevard. Also, you can see lots of the citys famous canals, the nice buildings along the waterways and the great yachts. A map with all stops of the water taxi is available at the hotel or at the tourist center.

This is Fun ! Water Taxi (Water Bus)- ask to go past Millionaire's Row on the Intracoastal Waterway-it's great

Stay here before or after your Cruise Spend 2-3 days in conjunction with cruise.Easy ride to the Port.
