This has to be the worst hotel. Rooms are not clean, plumbing does not work, noisy and reception staff have no idea about customer care. The only plus side is the friendly staff at the hotel bar and the proximity to the beach. Overall seen better days twenty years ago and needs to be demolished.

This hotel was not expensive, and the location was great, but it was not as nice as I thought it would be when we booked it. There is a road between the hotel and the beach, which was not what we expected. The hotel was very old and rooms and bathrooms were in rough shape.

Sea Club would be my last resort

My three friends and I were all ready for some fun in the sun when we landed in Ft. Lauderdale and checked into the Sea Club Resort. We were disapointed at the condition of the room but were determined to make the best of things. It was a dark, damp room and the 'kitchenette' was little more than a refrigerator and a sink. The bathroom was especially disgusting! It was not until after we checked in and were settled into our rooms that we realized the door jam was quite lose. It would have been very easy for someone to push it open. As four young women we did not feel safe leaving our belongings there never mind sleeping there!! At the persistence of one member of our group we asked to have the room door fixed. It was after 4 PM and the matinenece man was off duty. The security gaurd on duty was unable to assist us. As a a result, we asked to change rooms. Javier, the young man at the desk was helpful and moved our room. The second room was worse than the first! It was a smoking room and the smell was unbearable! The door to this room would not even shut properly and a little pusing resulted in a three inch gap at the bottom. Totally unacceptable to us! Even more offensive my two friends were walking through the stairwell and passed a pile of throw up that had been sitting there for some time! At that point we had been in the hotel about four hours and decided to just check out and go somewhere else. During the time that we were trying to check out we watched one other couple check and and leave ten minutes later because of the condition of thier room AND listened as one other room complained that their toilet was overflowing and was leaking down onto the pool deck. Gross! It was a fiasco to get our money back from the online agency we booked through and we ended up having to pay for one night! While Javier was polite, Jose the manager was less than understanding when we went back the next day to talk to him. He would not listen to our concerns about our personal safety- he was more concerned with making sure we payed for the four hours we were at his "Resort'. He clearly could use a lesson in customer relations. I would not reccomend the Sea Club to anyone. It was a total diaspointment and looked nothing like it does in the pictures. Ft. Lauderdale has other much better hotels to offer that cost way less than this nasty place!

I have never had such a bad experience like the Sea Club Resort. The service was bad, the room was dirty and had stains everywhere. On top of that, I ate at the resturant and they charged me twice in one day and again a month later...very shady. I will get my money back for the charge.

My long time friend and I went to the Sea Club Resort for 3 nights on May 23rd. There is nothing luxury about it and it could use some updating (bathrooms are small, fixures need replacing, and could use a good paint job), but the hotel itself is clean, the beds comfortable, the staff were pleasant and always there to assist you, and the restaurant was very good. We got a rate of $49/night from their website and felt that we got a lot for that price (if you reserved a room from thier site you got free breakfast, which wasn't the greatest but could be worse, and a free cocktail each day you were there). If you want something in a great location, clean, comfortable and not busy, this is your place. If you want something luxurious stay at the Marriott or the DoubleTree.

My fiancee and I stayed at the Sea Club recently and had a pleasant time. It's not a luxury hotel and I knew that when I made my reservations. It's a good choice if you don't want to spend a ton of money and you want to stay right on the ocean. The staff is friendly and they have a great restaurant on the premises.

Resort?!?!? or Motel?

I don't know how this "resort" is any different from your common "motel." I was terribly disappointed. The photos from the website are only of the office for a specific reason. The rooms were dark and dingy with various insects floating about.

I didn't feel comfortable enough to walk around in my socks for a fear of getting them dirty.

I wouldn't stay there again.

I have to say I was very pleased with my stay at the Sea Club. The shuttle from the airport was prompt, the check in was smooth and friendly and the rooms were the perfect temperature (extremely important to me). The hotel is very clean and the staff is nice and accommodating. Since I came from the City, I was really happy with the proximity to the beach. The sea club resort framed the rest of vacation very nicely and I will definitely return.

No A/C, Ants, Horrible beds, No staff would help

BRIEF OVERVIEW:
Air conditioning didn't work, ants in bathroom, pool unclean, beds very old and squeaky, hotel offered no help whatsoever. Hotel policy per Jose the Manager is zero compensation. ORBITZ said sorry!

LONG VERSION WITH SORRY DETAILS:

We were flying out of Ft. Lauderdale the day after so we decided to get a nice room on the beach the night before so we could enjoy our last day in Florida. We picked the Sea Club based off ORBITZ 3 star review rating and its nice pictures. In reality we got there a little early. 1:30pm instead of 3pm so we were told b/c of this we would not be allowed to flip rooms. O.K., for $130/night how bad could it be. Well when we got in our beds were the first thing we noticed which had about zero support. Honestly I think they are over 20 years old. They squeak like plastic. Then we noticed the teeny tiny ants coming out of the caulking around the sink in the bathroom and the bathtub, etc. We wanted a room across from the beach with a pool as well so we didn't complain yet. When we found the pool, next to the very loud construction guys working, it looked like the ocean was going to be cleaner. We hit the beach and then returned to go out to dinner (so far we were getting leary of this place having good food). After dinner we came in the room and found the a/c not working. It did earlier so we fiddled with it and wound up feeling like we would be o.k. At 11:30pm we all woke up sweating hot so my wife asked me to go to the front desk NOT to complain but to ask for a fan. When I got there the young man said he didn't have any. A rent-a-cop said he couldn't help either after I found out he was also double duty repairman. They both told me I was out of luck. The deskman said I couldn't cancel at that point, he couldn't call in anyone to help and no one could do anything to help me out. The Manager, named Jose was not available as he was home sleeping. I would have to wait until the next morning but we had a 6am flight so couldn't wait. I called ORBITZ who I booked through and they said they couldn't help until the next day. Another guy sitting in the lobby overheard my plight and said aloud not to give up. He said he was not staying in this hotel but next door and that having no a/c in this heat was unacceptable especially given their lack of willingness to help me. We had a restless night and upon returning home ORBITZ gave up saying the hotel said they checked it out and the A/C was fine, it was turned on heat according to their ENGINEER. Let me tell you that I spent about 45mins trying to adjust it before going to the front desk but even with the knobs broken off it was turned as far as it would go to HIGH A/C yet it was warm air. I had the thermostat turned all the way down as well and for a brief period(about 15mins.) we did get something but it reset back to warm air again. The knobs as stated earlier where twisted prior to our arrival indicating prior guests had the same frustration as us. The front cover even was broken so as to lift right off. Another indication many others had attempted a middle of the night fix as well. Today after a few weeks of battling with ORBITZ to get me some type of compensation, etc. they gave up. I then called Jose who manages the place and he flat out told me his policy is to never give compensation and he does not have anybody available to work nights for this type of thing because it never happens. I asked what kind of customer service he provides when he can't even offer a fan. He said it simply is not their policy to compensate in any way and you are stuck with what you got. I further asked what he would do if a water pipe broke and he said they would have to wait until the morning. I told him I thought his customer service was horrible and I was not happy with the way he runs his hotel. I further asked to speak to his Boss to explain how unsatisfied I was. After reluctance he said I would have to go through ORBITZ. I told him I wanted his Boss's name & # and he told me to call back and speak to the front desk and ask for Michaels #, his Boss who was the VP. I did and upon reaching the front desk the gal seemed to transfer me to live person who was supposedly MR. Michael Man, the VP of the hotel but he sounded identicle to Jose who I just hung up with. I was not convinced he was who he said he was. I asked for an e-mail address and after taking it down I hung up. I have a hard time believing this hotel is still in business. That is why I took the time (also out of frustration) to write this review. If you want to check the legitimacy of myself, look me up in the white pages and give me a call. I would be more than happy to tell you more details of what our experiance was like. We are now working through VISA, to try and see if they can do something to help us out as we don't think we were treated with the kind of service we paid for.

I work for the airlines and travel often. When I went to the Sea Club I was not sure what to expect. I was first greeted by a friendly front desk clerk named Javier (he is soooo cute!). After C/I he directed me towards the concierge desk where I spoke with Michael (OH MY G-D!!! another cutie!). Both of them were wonderful and they really lifted me up and showed me the best places to go.

The hotel itself has a very unique and antique feel to it which I found soothing and relaxing. I look forward to staying with the Sea Club again (thinking...when is my next vacation???!!!).

I am serious. This is a horrendous place and I would have second thoughts before I sent my worst enemy to stay in this outhouse. I'm sure it was a edcent place back in the '50s. It is decrepid, bug infested, filthy, disgusting, not handicap friendly and smells of rotten fish mixed lying on the floor of a public restroom in the middle of Manhattan. Staff was rude. Other than that, our stay was great.......

I stayed on the week of spring break it was excellent great and fun, The staff is very friendly and there in the center of everything! I was there for my colledge spring Break I went online to there web site great price, The Greek restaurant is excellent if you like sea food its a greek restaurant called pelagos, and if you need to know about anything realated to clubs see the concierge they know whats HOT! Besides all the new buldings being built in the area, The sea club is a very friendly nice place, and the boutique has all you need for the beach for the sun, for souvenies, and the boutique owner sheriff is definetly a true natural comedian, So you get all that for the price of one!!!!! Spring Break 2005 see you there!!Sionara!!

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Shuttles Several of the hotels offer shared shuttles to and from the airport. Call your hotel before you arrive & see if they use the shuttle. They can arrange for your pick up. It is very likely to be cheaper than the cabs. The cabs are a total rip off.

Shuttle service doesn't exist Since there is no Shuttle, you should take a taxi, the fare is aprox $16.00 not bad!

You pay a little more and get a lot more Spend the extra 10-20% and stay at one of the finer Chain hotels as the Sheraton
