Don't ever stay here. I didn't even feel safe and couldn't wait to get out of there. The place smelled funny, and I really don't want to know about the stains on the bed. I would have demanded my money back, but that would have meant speaking to the creepy front desk people. Vacation turned out to be ok once I got on the cruise line, but my first night wasn't even close to what I had expected!!

Real bad

from Cue3
Very dirty, very noisy, holes in the wall. Staff was non-existent. I'd rather sleep in my car.

What do you expect for $75.00

We stayed here for one night prior to a cruise and I did not see crime, drugs and gangs as some others have suggested. The room could have been cleaner but it was meant to be nothing more than a stop over, The shuttle was fine for us no wait except for about 20 minutes for cruise port departure. Ricks bar was adequate for a beer and dinner as well. Had I wanted A-1 service I would have booked a hotel that offers that level of service. If you stay here expecting room service and a concierge you will be dissapointed. If you want a bare bones no frills stop over for one night book it.

Never Ever

After being booked here by Hotels through Delta Airlines, we were amazed that this property would be reccomended by Delta through Hotels. This had to be our worst experience in any type of accomadation. We are semi retired and travel a lot and was using this place as a stopover for our cruise. The shuttle service was more then one and a half hour wait. The property was in disaray, the rooms ghastly. After speaking with Hotels and the owner himself, we were told that the shuttle service is free so therefore does not have to be dependable and taxi's are available if we were not happy. Trolleys for luggage are a service and not responsible to have any available at front desk. Go find them he says. there is one elevator to go up the floors and you have to guess which one works each day. We could have called Hotels at 12:00 midnight to change properties at our expense, that this was not a luxury property and we could stay elsewhere if we wanted any type of service. An employee told us she would never stay there for FREE. That this property was meant for transients and truckers. I could go on but you get the message. This is not a property to stay at and I would never use Hotels to book a reservation of any kind. They, the franchise headquarters of Red Carpet Inn and the owner of the property were not professional in their handling of our complaint. We would never use any of the two mentioned above.

Sleep Under the 17th St Causeway Instead!

Run for the hills! What a dirty, horrible dump. Here is a quick rundown of my experience, all for only $80.00 a night for 4 days of ___:
1. non-flushing toilet
2. constant smell of strong, stale urine was so bad I watched the maid spray disinfectant directly into the carpet when she cleaned the room
3. rude workers at the desk & restaurant
4. food in the restaurant had foreign objects in it [when I told the waitress she handed me the bill & said she does not make the food]
5. insects of many species crawled in the bed & all over the room
6. a roofer was laying on my bed eating his lunch & watching tv when I came into the room [the office said they'd investigate, but they just blew me off]
7. I had head lice when I flew back home from having to sleep there 4 days.
It really is that bad. Do yourself a favor & sleep under a bridge instead.

Should be taken off the website

This hotel does not deserve a single star. It was filthy, run down and all for the low price of $83 w/ taxes! Security is lacking. I had people banging on my door in the middle of the night. This is a hotel that needs to be taken off the website.

An Unsettling Experience

We booked the Red Carpet Inn over the Internet for April of 2005. One positive thing about this place is that is provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. The place needs updating, however, it seemed clean enough. One thing that sticks out in my mind is that the drapes on the large window didn't stay closed; since we were on the street level, I used duct tape to paste them to the window frame so that we had some privacy. The ad said that there were fast food places 'nearby'; if you are driving, this may be a reasonable claim. It was too far to walk. The restaurant on site was a bar & would have been acceptable, however, the music was so loud, one couldn't carry on a comfortable conversation. The persons at the reception desk were slow. The pool was large & nice. When we arrived there was no water to some of the rooms; the problem was solved as they said it would be by the time we returned from dinner. We had an interesting if upsetting experience in the middle of the night: someone had called the police to investigate a fight in a room. A police officer and a security person from the hotel pounded on our door until we woke up. While we were dressing, they continued to shout & demand we open the door. They had mixed up the room number! How would anyone know whether a person at your door who wakes you up in the middle of the night is a bonafide police officer? In many hotels, you are instructed not to open your door to anyone until you have phoned the reception to find out what the situation is. Another security problem occurred the next night. We had booked this place for a couple of nights before and after another holiday, however, we cancelled our reservation for the latter & moved to another hotel. In spite of the shuttle service & the large outdoor pool, we will not go back.

If you are into cockraoches crawling all over you while you sleep, than this is the place for you. Everything from stains on the walls, bedsheets, curtains , and pillows to cockroaches crawling inside the bed sheets. Filthy, prostitutes in the main lobby, and just plain gross. Run away fast from this place. This place needs to be shut down.

HORRIBLE!

from A TripAdvisor Member
well..lets say, it didnt go right from the beggining. When we got into the room, my husband placed our bags on one of the 2 queen size beds and sat down on the edge of the bed to take off his shoes and the bed collapsed.. (and he's not obese..he's not heavy at all). We called down to the front desk to let them know, and their response was.."Well, your not going to use that bed are you? Theres two in there..".. So we let that go..and tried to enjoy our night there..We go down to the restauraunt in the lobby and theres a almost naked woman, serving food. I mean, that really doesnt seem too family oriented to me. When we finish eating, its gotten dark, and when we walk outside to walk back to our room, I see a flock of girls, (dressed similarly to the waitress in the restaurant) walking around the motel. I mean...hookers..walking around the hotel..and they have the audacity to call themselves a family oriented place. So we go back into the room and My husband went into the bathroom to take a shower and not long after he got in, he came out and he told me not to use the shower. When I asked why, he said there was little flies (Maggot type things) flying out of a hole in the ceiling over the bathtub... Exhausted, I fall asleep and think to deal with it in the morning. We wake up and go downstairs to complain about the flies in our bathroom. I tell the person in the lobby and she just walks off (without an apology our show of concern) gets on the phone and says very loudly,"Theres a guest up here that SAYS, she saw flies flying over them when they were taking a shower..." I was like..hello? Are you trying to imply that IM lying? then of course..they say they dont see them and basically imply for us to leave..my husband asks to speak to the manager and requests that he goes up to the room to show where the flies had come out off. They see the hole, yet they deny it and tell us to stop complaining and thats it..goodbye... THey even deny the bed being collapsed when they came into the room, and accuse us of lying about that.... So I go up to talk to the manager, and when I reach the room, he is already walking away.. I call out to him, (In a very respectable manner ) and say "excuse, I would like to talk to you for a minute" and he looks back ...looks straight at me, and keeps on walking.. So I go to the lobby and say I refuse to leave until the situation is handled. I mean, I did not even use the toilet in the room.. I told them I wasnt even asking for a full refund. The manager comes into the office and tries to walk right past me and I stop him and demand an explanation..he threatens that if we dont leave he'll call the police.. I said, I will do you one better, and call the police myself.. But then my husband points out our boat leaves in 2 hours and we have to get to the port..unfortunately I did not get to report them to the police.. But whatever..I suggest you go elsewhere..and dont go to the airport inn next door..its just as bad

Gross disguting hooker/truckstop

from masulliv_7
I booked this place because I needed to get to the airport early one morning and they say they have a shuttle service. When I drove into the parking lot, I was skeptical but since I had paid I went forward. The lobby is one scary place, smelled disgusting of smoke, and had some pretty questionable characters hanging around. I just stood in line waiting to check in, thinking, how am I going to go through with this? Then thankfully, someone called my cell phone and saved me by giving me a place for the night. I asked at the front desk if I could get my money back, and they charged me $10 booking fee. I was saved from staying in this dump!!! Please do not stay here, it is horrific!

The Worst

from A TripAdvisor Member
We reserved this room on Orbits which did not have a review. I sure wish I would have checked the reviews somewhere as there is no way we would have booked this room. Yes, it was cheap and that's exactly what it was. While the bedding and important items in the room were clean it clearly needs upkeep.
There were absolutely no amenities including a remote for the TV which you could rent for a $10 deposit. Coffee at the restaraunt was $3, no complimentary coffee anywhere. Considering the clientele of this hotel, I can see why they have to have a deposit for everything. The first morning, the commode did not work, they finally got us a new room but that was even more disappointing as the party next door was exactly that, a party, all night with yelling, screaming, slamming doors and people running up and down the outside halls and steps both nights. It was not worth the money saved.

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

The airport This is a nice, but very chaotic airport. MAke sure you arrive in plenty of time, and be prepared to stand in line for check-in. The pick-up spot for hotel shuttles is nice and convenient, but a traffic nightmare! Make sure you have control of your small children, because there is a lot of honking, weaving, and cutting by vehicles.

We did not stay in Lauderdale Our stay was in Corpus Christi, Texas
