Wonderful Resort

I just returned from a week at this resort. It was one of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed at. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and they are always willing to help. The resort was very well maintained and very secure. The parking is a little frustrating at first but once you understand where to go it's not a problem. There is construction going on next to the resort but it didn't bother either of us. We had a beautiful ocean view condo on the 17th floor. There are several night clubs and restaurants in front of the resorts that can be noisey at night but again it didn't bother us. Try "Max's Grill" for their 3 for 1 drink special or for dinner or lunch (I recommend the Chicken Chop or Filet Mignon). The whole courtyard in front of the resort is a lot of fun for the whole family.

IDEAL FAMILY ACCOMODATION ON THE OCEAN

got a family with 3 or more kids? dont look past beach place towers is my recommendation. a very nicely appointed apartment that will very comfortably sleep 6 plus people with the convenince of washing machine and dryer as well as a well fitted kitchen 2 bathrooms decent sized stting room/dining area private parking right on the ocean what more could you want.so difficult to find any other sort of accomodation that fill a family criteria.cook in or eat out thats your choice.staff are very friendly and helpful in every way.there is a small shop which carries most essential foodstuffs etc plus great coffee and a pizzahut bar. we mostly bought from supermarket and did our own thing.

we are VERY FUSSY people and i dont think anyone would be disapointed with this choice.we have been here since 1998 3 times.
if you are booking i would recommend the intercoastal view and book the las olas side of the property as a new building is going up next to beach place which will darken the sunrise blvd end of the property.sun is on the ocean side in the morning and on the intercoastal in the afternoon.the higher up you are the better the view,if you are lucky and get a back coner unit you have a beach and intercoastal view.


on the negative side as of summer 04 rooms common areas are getting a little tierd kitchen drawers and bottom of units are showing some signs of wear here and there though noting too serious.parking is always available but the drive to the 4th floor can be tiresome at times, but the positives far outweigh any negatives, i think they are going to renovate next year.
for us its a 10 out of 10

spent 4 nights at this hotel and had a great time. Based on the other reports, I was extremely happy that we were placed on the watercoastal side rather than the ocean side. I did hear noise on a daily basis....even on the beach...so is well worth your while to request intercoastal side.

Pool is extremely small and full of kids 90% of the day. On this vacation I went with 4 other friends with no children, so we chose the beach instead. Also, kids were always in the jacuzzi as well. It was quite annoying. Since there are two jacuzzis, I believe the hotel should designate one "adults only".
Unfortunately, last week we had lots of rain. Fortunately, we found Max's restaurant which is located in the marketplace directly below the hotel. They have a great lunch deal. Anything on the menu for 3.99. Plus they have a 3-1 drink deal. So many rainy afternoons were spent in Max's.

We rented a 2 BR suite. It was clean and there is plenty of closet and drawer space. It held enough for 5 women and then some. Maid service was just so-so. Coffee was never emptied out of the coffee pot. Just a general tidying up. But nothing so severe that I would complain.

However, the elevators are another story. They are horrific. And I was going during the slow season. 4 elevators for 19 floors of a hotel and 5 floors of parking garage is totally unacceptable and certaintly not of Marriott caliber. We even attempted walking up the stairs using the fire exits. However, if you start on the ground floor, you cannot get up to the lobby. So it is a futile effort. My only advice is to take the elevator from the ground floor (P1) and at least you will have some advantage. Also, no need to take the tunnel, street is narrow enough to make it across the street to the beach.

Also, beach chairs are $5 a day and you must relinquish them by 4:30 pm. Some days, the sun did not come out till after 3:00 and we all just wanted to hang around. So once again, my advice is to bring your own chair.

Wish the hotel would be able to rent you a chair for your entire stay so you can determine how long you wish to spend on the beach.

Once again, these are minor infractures which certaintly did not ruin my time.

The piano bar howl at the moon is alot of fun. Since I am over 40, it was best to get there early and leave before 12:00. We found the crowd turned a little more on the wild side and got much younger as the evening went on.

All in all, had a great time, beach beautiful, but I will say have stayed in other marriott vacation villas which were much more impressive. But, I still wouldn't want to write this one off...Beach alone is worth it.

We just got back from a four night stay at the Marriott's Beachplace Towers Resort. We rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa and it was awesome! The room was everything they described and more. It was clean, amply furnished and beautifly decorated. I asked for a room overlooking the intracoastal waterway and we were never bothered by any construction/entertainment/music noise. The elevators were kind of slow at times (peak hours), but even then the wait was never that long. The parking garage is poorly designed but we never had any trouble finding a parking spot. The pool was a great alternative to the beach and the Marketplace was a good place to get a snack. The beach was right across the street and although there is a tunnel, we thought it was easier to just cross the street. The Beach Place mall, which occupies the first three floors of the hotel is ok. Mostly just some overpriced shops. We ate at a couple of the restaurants - Sloppy Joe's and Iguana's.

The staff there was very, very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. I would definately go back here.

I read the reviews before making my reservations. I stay exclusively at Marriotts for work. So, I wanted to also stay at a Marriott for a 3 night getaway. When I reserved, I asked for a "intercoastal view" and we sure got it. The intercoastal view is incredible. We were on the corner room on the 19th floor. Very private balcony. The oceanview is nice as well but, you would have to deal with the construction which isn't that bad. Construction does start early and is 7 days a week. Also, there is some club music to be heard on the ocean side. We never closed our balcony door - and never woke up to noise.
The staff, I can't say enough about how friendly and helpfull they are. There are ALOT of family things to do. Kids fun is everywhere!!! Time for adults is readily available. As two adults looking for fun, we found it when ever we wanted it. The nearby restaurants are OK. There is a good bar a block south that we really had a great time at. The room was great, clean taken care of daily. Don't let the city water scare ya, it is just fine.
If your are thinking of staying at a clean, fun, relaxing, safe place...Beach Place is a great pick.

Really nice place. Great vacation spot for all ages...

I've read some of the other reveiws people have left and I totally disagree with some of the comments. I've been to the beachplace towers 3 times and am leaving to go for a 4th on july 10th...The noise is NOT as bad as they make it sound. Its a vacation, which means you are suppose to kick back on these beatiful balconys and enjoy the music from the clubs at night, let me not forget to mention the live bands that come and play on stage in the mall downstairs. The front of the resort has a EXCELLENT veiw of the ocean. There is all different types of attractions around, mostly shopping unless you have a car to venture off in. The parking has never been a problem any time we've been there. Right along the street that runs in front of the resort there are excellent resturants weather your looking for a candlelit dinner with someone special or a nice family dinner. I could go on with list's of things that makes this resort a great vacation spot but i think i covered a good part of it. Overall, if your not over 80 yrs old, you will enjoy the music and veiws that this resort has to offer, and maybe even feel like your in your 20's again!! I highly recommend beachplace towers as a family/friends vacation spot. Excellent if you bring your boyfriend/girlfriend down to kids. we'll, hopefully if this makes you go to the beachplace towers, you will enjoy it as i did many times....

Great Holiday

Just got back Sat. 5 June after spending week at BeachPlace Towers. This was the second year that we have exchanged timeshare weeks to stay in this accommodation and it was as good this time as last. We had a 2 bedroom villa (enough for 8 people) on 16th floor overlooking the waterways at the rear of the property. I requested this with them 3 days before we went on holiday as we were arriving late. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Concierge was very helpful/knowledgeable. Helped us with various directions/restaurants. Property is immaculate and is very well located - just across road from beach and minutes from waterways where you can catch water taxi. Villas are identical to Marriott Grande Vista in Orlando if that is a help to anyone. Great time was had by all.

Something for everyone, but not for everyone!

If you know Ft. Lauderdale, this resort is in a prime location, central to everything and, more importantly, on the beach. Pros: Great villas, staff, location (location, location), views from any room, nigthlife. Cons: tight parking, traffic, noise, not child-friendly, narrow dirty beach (public), construction next store. Look, if you want a quiet, relaxing vacation, do not come here. If you want more excitement than the normal family beach vacation, then you may like this. We have two small ones and read all the reviews and tried to check in early to request a high floor, intercoastal view to avoid the construction and noise. We had to wait hours for the room, but it was worth it. Excellent views and quiet. There are at least seven bar/restaurants that turn into nightclubs just an elevator ride down from the rooms. Very lively and fun. Food and drink was good. Miami was just 30 min away and we took advantage of that too. If Cape Cod/Hilton Head is your speed - this is a definite change of pace so be prepared. If you love nightlife, then consider this your ideal vacation. Not child friendly, too much traffic and people, but much stuff to do away from Beach Place. Overall, a nice change of pace - will come back.

Great Location, shame about the parking

We stayed here in April, 2004 for a week. It was just before Easter and the place was full. We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was very good - quite large and we faced directly out over the beach - great view. Having said that the rooms that faced over the intercoastal waterway had a better view in the evening because they got the sunset and then the lights of FL, so maybe that would have been better. We were on the 10th floor and not disturbed by any noise from below. The hotel is built above a small mall and indoor parking complex, just across the road from the beach. This gives it all the problems it has. The leisure facilities are all contained on the lobby floor - there is only 1 pool and 2 whirlpools and they get very crowded when it is full. The pool really isnt big enough for this resort. It also looks like it needs a clean or its discoloured by sand not sure why. They ought to expand these facilities but there isn't any room to do so. There is a major construction going on next door but that didn't bother us - there wasn't any noise and we didn't find the view impeded us at all. The Marketplace is excellent - very large - and great Starbucks coffee and Pizza Hut pizzas. The man who runs that place is great - one of the friendliest and most helpful people I've met. He also makes great frozen cocktails. Some of his fellow workers were a lot less knowledgeable and it suffered when he wasn't there - they couldn't make an iced mocha for instance and didn't know how to make a frozen cocktail in the pool bar!!! The car parking is awful. You have to drive up to level 4 of the multi storey car park, take a ticket etc etc which gets you out free when you leave but its a hassle. The car park is very crowded and the lanes are narrow. Its quite hairraising getting up and down to the Marriott parking floor because of all the traffic moving up and down these narrow ramps. We were glad to leave because of it. The shopping mall had a lot of restaurants and bars in it - open air - and they were very popular - the live dance music went on till 4 am. I can't honestly say it disturbed us at all but I think it would do if you were on a low floor at the front. Would we come back? No. We liked the Marriott Ocean Pointe just up the coast at WPB so very much more - it was much more of a holiday resort than this. This actually felt like an urban hotel, even though it was on the beach. If you don't mind all that though, I cannot fault the facilities. The kids club was good and they seemed to be having a great time - really excellent for younger children. The gym was good. Maybe it would be better at a quieter time of the year.

How to avoid the noise!

I've just returned from spending ten days at BeachPlace Towers. After reading the reviews here I was a bit worried about what to expect.
Firstly, the noise - this is a big problem IF you're on the front of the hotel looking over the ocean. On our first night we were woken at midnight and the music (noise) continued until 3am. We went down to complain and the staff understood the problem, they arranged to move us the next day to a room overlooking the intercostal waterway at the back of the hotel. Personally I thought the view was better and there was NO noise.The noise on the first day was the only problem we had at the resort, everything else was first class and the staff were extremely friendly.So don't let other reviews about the noise put you off going to BeachPlace Towers - but you must insist on a room at the back of the hotel!

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Active night life near hotel If you like loud live music and late night partying, there seemed to be many restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel. Not a good family atmosphere.

Where to stay before or after cruise When your looking for a place to stay before or after your cruise, please don't just go for something close to the cruise terminal. The entire beach is close to the terminal. A few of the hotels that I kept seeing as recommendations for before or after cruise stays, (such as Hyatt, Pier 66 and Renassiance) seem to be in the middle of nothing. Consider paying for a cab, $20 or less, and book something where some actions is.

Great Mexican Food at Carlo's and Pepe's in Ft. Lauderdale The resort suggested Carlo's and Pepe's for Mexican, it was probalby the BEST MEXICAN I have had!!
