Historical Traveller Reviews of Marriott Harbor Beach Resort Spa Hotel

An awesome place!

from Arielitoll
This is a fantastic place. I mean it is great! To start off, cleanliness makes it on the top of the charts. Friendliness, takes it up there too. The security is very very good. Everything is so well kept. The lobby is very nice. There isn't any smells, dirtyness or anything. The hotel looks like it was built yesterday. Checking in is very easy. There are very friendly. We even got to stay in a beachview room. IT IS WONDERFUL! The dining experience is great. We went on business but I felt like I was on vacation with that atmosphere. It feels so good. 3030 their signature restaurant is very good. I mean even a simple " Petite Filet" just tastes excellent. The pool is like you are in Hawaii. It is very nice. I never went to the spa but it looks good. The concierge is very good. My friend had room service every day and by how it seems it looks great. The bathrooms in the rooms were marble. I am talking about a standard room. The balconies are very comfortable. Checking out is very easy and transportation is very good too. The elevators were very fast, there were 6 or them or just about 17 floors. The meeting rooms are very good and clean. This place feels like SPA, RESORT and CONVENTION CENTER. It is great. I reccomend this hotel with 5 stars!

The service was impeccable

This resort was fantastic. My entire family loved everything about it including the lagoon-style pool, the aqua blue ocean, the restaurants on site, the spa massages, the view overlooking the Atlantic, and of course the wonderful service.

We can't say enough about the staff here. They all went above the call of duty consistently throughout our stay. We recommned this place to any family looking to get away from it all.

Very Very Good. March 2004

from NewcastleIllinois
We were very pleased with the amenities especially as they catered to families. The service, especially in the restaurants was far above our expectations with a fabulous breakfast buffet. The rooms were on the small side but clean and nice. The pool area was excellent and even though crowded during Sprng Break it wasn't obvious. Great beach area.
This is the place to stay in Fort Lauderdale. Our kids loved it and felt at home and we will return.

Great Hotel and grounds February 20, 2004

What a great hotel. From check in to check out this is a 5 star hotel.
After a long flight from Los Angeles, it was refreshing to have a hotel that offers such great service with a friendly smile. We were upgraded to an ocean view room. The room was bright and airy and the bed was incredible. The grounds are outstanding from the beach to the palms around the pool area. The gift stores carried top notch merchandise.
They even arrainged for a van to take us to our cruise ship. I will definately stay here again if I am in Fort Lauderdale.

m a frequent traveler and this rates a top 10

I found the newly renovated spa at the Harbor Beach One of the best spas I have ever been to. The staff was wonderful and the new 3030 restaurant in the lobby was fabulous. I travel a lot for business and would rate this hotel in the top 10 for all the conveniences one needs, as well as the superb location. A quick 10 minute ride from the airport made this 3 day get-away one of the nicest we've ever had.

Marriott Harbour Beach

The hotel was very clean and was family friendly. There were kids activities going on around the pool most of the day (especially on weekends). My only complaint was that the service at the hotel was not very good. If you got someone to serve you they were very nice and knowledgeable but getting that service was not always easy - on three different occasions we waited more than 15 minutes before we gave up on receiving service. Weekends were VERY crowded. We also came away feeling we were nickled and dimed for a lot of things. Our weather was perfect so we enjoyed our vacation overall but we would try other places before we returned.

Resturant Bar

from A TripAdvisor Member
I frequent Fort Lauderdale every month and cannot resist eating at the resturant bar. The food is absolutely delicious, the presentation is spectacular, and the service provided by the bartenders, Winston, Tony and Edwin is always with a smile and good conversation. Not to forget they make fantastic drinks, Martini's are my favorite!! On some evenings music is provided by the talented Frank Carmelitano! Make this one place to visist or stay in Fort Lauderdale you will not be disappointed.

Great Family Resort

from o2bmmw
My family of 2 adults and twin 6-year-olds stayed here Columbus Day Weekend 2003. We got the hotel through priceline with a bid of $80 per night.

The resort is wonderful. We had a city view room with a balcony and 2 double beds. There were a lot of families staying in the rooms around us (with babies etc) and the room was very quiet. My only complaints are that the closet in the room was TINY, but ok for us for the 3 nights we were there (just enough room). Maid service was fair; they did make up our room early as we requested, but neglected turn-down service one night we requested.

The pool was packed with families. If we were there without our kids, I would have opted for the beach, which is uncrowded, and the hotel provides chairs and umbrellas without additional charge. With kids, it is important to arrive at the pool early or you will not get chairs anywhere where you can watch your kids. Drink service around the pool is slow, and often I would go get my own drink at the bar. They do have a lot of kid-friendly activities on weekends and the entertainment coordinator was good with the children. My kids loved the pool area. On Saturday nights they have pool-side family movies, but we did not get to take advantage of that. They also have cabanas for rent that have wet bars, towels and showers. These might be a good option for someone who wants to stay their last day but can't get late check out.

The valet promptly brought our car out any time we called for it, which they should have considering the hotel charges $26 per day to park your car. Self parking is an option there, but it is not substantially cheaper, so we opted for the valet.

Food on site was extremely expensive, so we went out for breakfast and dinner every day.

I did use the spa for a massage and it was wonderful. One thing I did not realize is if you book a service at the spa, you have the use of it for the whole day. That includes a small, private spa pool (no children there), a spa cafe, etc. I had a 2 pm massage so I did not find this out until then. Had I known, I would have attempted to use it in the morning.

Nice Hotel but Expected More

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel is nice with a large pool and a very nice beach area. There were a ton of kids there and it seemed ideal for families, but keep in mind that they do charge for a lot of the activities. The food at the restaurants was ok, but nothing special. While the concierge was very helpful, the rest of the staff wasn't sincerely friendly. For those who like to sleep in, they do not have curtains that close out the sunlight (at least in our room). I would definitely recommend the hotel, particularly at the Priceline price, but expected more for a Resort.

nice weekend getaway

from A TripAdvisor Member
got a great airline deal and then this hotel on priceline and had a great weekend getaway. went in september and found it not too crowded. there were available beach chairs. do recommend doing a spa treatment which then allows you to use a separate pool and a very nice cafe with relatively healthier food. they bring out iced towels with cucumbers to cool your face when sunbathing.

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

The Jungle Queen This is a "MUST DO". either the day cruise or night dinner (we did both). It is fantastic value for money.

Don't Miss the River Taxi We took a river taxi ($11.00 all day pass) from the docks at the beach to the Waterfront. This is a great way to see the fabulous mansions and yachts along the water. If you happen to get a talkative captain, he will point out who the owners of these spectacular homes are, and a little history of Ft. Lauderdale.
