What a crap hole

At $240.00 a night for 4 nights, I wasted $900 bucks by staying there. Where are you getting your 4 star review from? Are you rating yourself? Your about 3 1/2 stars too high! I would have been more comfortable with pitching a tent curbside somewhere. Days Inn I believe is a 5 star hotel. Hyatt Regency Pier 66... Your out of your league. Know what the difference is between an outhouse and Hyatte Regency Pier 66 is? The crap hole is smaller and the smell is better.
Pathetic. Just pathetic. STAY CLEAR OF THIS ONE FOLKS !

If you're used to the Super 8, you'll feel at home. This hotel is a "wanna-be". This place is outdated, way past it's prime. They would be better off to destroy and rebuild, rather than renovate. The employees still have the obnoxious attitudes of a nice hotel. We had a great view of fallen palm trees and dirt.
Problems started AFTER we committed to the reservations, the hotel sent an email stating the pool was closed. They forgot to mention the restaurant was also closed, and they would also try to sneak a 10% price increase. When we arrived the stage was set. The Valet snatched the keys and took off in the car like Mario Andretti. Parking is $15 - $18 depending on if you self-park or not. We had reserved the room via the Hyatt web site at $99/night. When we got there they wanted $110/night. I gave them every opportunity to try to fix the problemS. When we discussed the problem with the manager on duty, we were offered 2 breakfast coupons for what they CLAIM is a $20 breakfast buffet. The fruit was great, but not worth $20. I'd prefer Denny's.

Our room was in a separate building which required walking outside, downstairs, and through a maize. The carpets left my white socks GRAY. The AC sounded like a truck. The bed sagged like a banana, but they DO have a "marble" floor in the bathroom. - I'd rather have clean carpet. The Hyatt Pier 66 is too far to walk to anything.
The only thing going for this place is that it's close to the Water Taxi on the intracoastal waterway - for $5/day this will take you to places you should have stayed in the first place. Spend the same or more on a hotel that is what this wants to apppear, or save your money an go for the Days Inn. This is a horid way to start a trip or vacation.
We later moved to the Hilton which IS a nice hotel. The Double Tree is also nice and more convenient.
Any positive reviews MUST be posted by Hyatt employees / management. Be afraid - be VERY afraid.

A wonderful honeymoon

I stayed at the pier 66 on honeymoon during 5-11 of August. I was quite apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews but after spending a week there I can honestly say that it sounds like another hotel is being described.
The pier 66 was excellent. We stayed in a 2nd floor lanai room over looking the beautiful gardens. Our room was huge with a super-king sized bed and a massive bathroom and walk in wordrobe.
All the staff were polite and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable.
The food at the pier 66 restaurant was fantastic. They had a special 3 course menue for $30 which we had twice during our stay. I highly recommend it. we also tried the pier top bar. The views were breath taking but drinks prices are high. The buffet breakfast in the lobby was also very good.
The gardens around the hotel are beautiful and very well maintained. The pools are also lovely. You can get free towels and there are enough sun loungers for everyone.
The location of the hotel is a little bit out of the way but we liked this. The water taxi stops at the hotel so we used this on a daily basis.
I would definately stay in this hotel again as we had a fantastic time.

Just returned from 6 nights at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66. A top-notch place. There are several restaurants to choose from. The "casual" restaurant in the hotel lobby is expensive (so are all the others) except for the bar/restaurant on top of the marina. I recommend that place for good burgers. It has a beautiful view and you can watch the boats on the intercoastal waterway. The rooms are very nice. We stayed in the 2 story section, which I highly recommend. Our room opened to a small patio that looked over the intercoastal waterway. The pool is beautiful. There are places to sit in the shade or hot sun. The service is excellent.

My family just returned from a 5 night stay. Everything was perfect, don't know what the complainers are talking about - must be cranky about life in general. Beautiful grounds, great pool. We did not stay in the tower, we were in one of the 2-story buildings and faced a canal. Perfect view of boats. Butch the concierge arranged trips for us, Ron the bellhop gave a detailed tour and made suggestions. Great service all around. Our first stay at a Hyatt and won't be the last.

We reserved a room at this hotel and on arrival after a long flight we were told that we could not stay because they were full, we had booked 14 months in advance, we were moved to the Riverside Hotel and they opened a wing of their hotel that was due for refurbishment, beware the customer is not king at this hotel.

We stayed the last night of a 6 day vacation at the Pier 66. The pool and hot tub were great, well maintained. The room was small, very moldy smelling, with small beds that sank in the middle with non-existent pillows. All 4 of us had the worse nights sleep of the vacation. A charge had been added to our bill for a meal we did not get, and the front desk clerk decided to argue with us about whether we really ate the meal or not.

We purchased our room from Pricelinev, so we cannot complain about the price. We got a tower room with king size bed and oversized balcony for $100 during high season. (Their web page showed this room for $450) and it was not available on any of the hotel discount pages d/t the WPB boat show. Valet and bellman was fine. Check in was very nice. Food was terrible, EACH meal they forgot something. The beds are so uncomfortable that I think these are 40 year old mattresses. The railing on our balcony which divides it with our neighbor was loose and banging so loud with the wind. We had two nights but left after one because we didn't feel like paying a room's night ($100) for a massage so we could sleep another night. Beautiful views but needs upgrading BAD.

Stayed here for a conference. Way too expensive for what you get. Not to mention the additional cost for parking, and fitness center. Rooms not in the tower were spread out--inconvenient for use of hotel facilities especially parking. The pool was pleasant but crowded (in March, can't imagine what it would be like in peak season). The staff were accomodating and helpful.

Our one night stay pre-cruise at the Hyatt Pier Sixy-six was a nice one. Thr hotel is very attractive, especially the grotto-like pool area. Our room was somewhat ho-hum, too motel-like for my taste. I would have preferred a room in the tower, which apparrently is newer with larger rooms. It was nice looking out over the boats in the marina though, as the ground floor units border a walkway around the docks.
Quite unique, but a tad too public. The service at this hotel was very good, especially the breakfast dining room staff. If you are without a car, the location of the hotel makes it a little difficult to access restaurants off site. At least as far a breakfast was concerned, this was ok, the food was reasonable and of good quality. All in all, I found the Hyatt to be an true four star hotel, elegant, comfortable, and a good value. Its proximity to Port Everglades makes it a good place to stay pre or post cruise.

My family and I recently spent a week at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66. We were very fortunate to get in at the last minute because we had reservations at another hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, but cancelled based on many negative reviews. Overall we had an excellent stay. Our room was in the tower. It was large, very clean and quiet. Awesome view of the intercoastal and ocean. We only dined in the hotel one morning and the breakfast buffet was very good. The health club and spa were above average. The pool area was nice. The location was excellent. Everyone on the staff was exceptionally courteous and helpful. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

We stayed at this hotel post-cruise, and it is gorgeous. The weather was cold the days we were there so we couldn't use their beautiful pool, but it was perfect weather for their HUGE hottub! Our room was nice, but nothing over-the-top. We had requested a second floor room, NS, overlooking the pool area. But when we got there, they claimed to only have first floor rooms avaliable. After I told them I reserved a second floor room with with *insert name here*, right away they found me the room I had truly requested. Not fond of people trying pull a fast one on me. The location was perfect - great views of the marina and fort lauderdale from their revolving lounge. Plus the water bus stop is right in their marina - which was excellent!

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Arrive before 3pm Room we booked was not available upon checkin - arriving before 3pm should give you a better chance of getting what you reserved.

Airport is crazy busy on a Sunday Morning when the cruisers get there Use the porter outside the terminal to check your bags and check in for your flight. We saved tons of time by doing this. We still had to wait, but not nearly as long as those at the check-in counters. Also, F terminal had very few shopping areas, so if you don't care to stand in a long line to buy a newspaper or magazine- shop in the main terminal, prior to security.

Charlie's Crab Excellent restaurant on the water, stone crabs just as good as Joe's and less expensive.
