I went to Florida expecting a really bad Hotel because of these reviews but I was shocked when I checked in. The Hotel was one of the nicest places I had ever stayed in, in Florida. The rooms were very clean and big, the pool was really clean, and the resteraunt was clean too. The only problem I had was the Cleaners they were a little rude but who really cares about that you dont deal with them directly.

This Hotel was part of a package sold to us, and although the hotel brochure says newley renovated, I suspect that the content was written in the 1980's, the rooms are small, the beds too small for a family, and mould in the bathroom had been painted over. About the only good thing is the pool area. Also don't beleive that the 'resort' is 10 mins from the sea, (that's on a sunday when there is no traffic). We will NEVER use a Ramada resort again. They also don't provide comment cards for you to use!!!

My boyfriend and I had also experienced the supposedly "luxurious" package which I had signed up for in the mail. The accomodations on this trip was the worst experience I had in my life. The bedspread had holes in it. The room smelled stale. And to top it off, we found a cochroach in our bathroom! YUCK! Believe all the reviews written about this hotel and package. If you see a letter or get a call in the mail, trash the letter or hang up on the representative. Luckily enough we were able to evade those stupide timeshare presentations! I hope that somebody finds a way to shut this operation down, since I feel sorry for people who have bought this package and have yet to go through this experience.

Terrible Experience

My husband and I just returned from our "luxury vacation" sponsored by Ramada Plaza Resorts. We signed up after receiving an invitation in the mail and making some phone calls. The vacation package was explained as a stay in a "luxury" resort in Ft Lauderdale (the run-down, dumpy, worst-ever service Ramada Plaza Resort on State Rd 7), a 2-day cruise on an Imperial Majesty Ship (an old, run-down, small, dirty ship) and a stay in Orlando. Although we ended up paying a significant amount of money for our "free" vacation, part of the deal was attending ONE, 2-hr time share presentation in Ft Lauderdale. We did our part, attended the presentation and then headed to Orlando for the next part of our stay. When we arrived in Orlando, we were told we needed to take ANOTHER time share tour. Ramada lied to us on several occasions when we asked about only having to take ONE, 2-hr time share presentation.

The service throughout the vacation was unacceptable. I have never seen so many unprofession, rude, dis-organized hotel staff in my life! Staff acted as if it was a chore to help you out. The bathroom in the hotel lobby in Ft Lauderdale was AWFUL---clumps of hair in the sink, unflushed toilets, etc. GROSS!! We ended up spending our "vacation" driving around to Ramadas redeeming vacation vouchers, which should have been ready when we arrived.

Moral of the story--if you get a vacation "deal" in the mail from Ramada Plaza Resorts, I have three words for you---SHRED, SHRED, SHRED!! It's an awful deal and will leave your expectations short and your pockets empty.

Terrible service

This was an uncomfortable experience. I just came back from vacation and my first two nights I spent in this hotel. The bathroom was dirty.. the drain in the tub didnt work so it got full every time we took a shower. Also it made it easier to see the light green color of the water. The service was also terrible. We ordered a rollaway bed around 3 pm and when we came back at 10pm the bed was still not there, we had to call them back in order to get it at that time. The next day we left early in the morning to come back at night and see that there was no service done in the room at all. I guess the only thing that was not as bad was the breakfast.

We just returned to canada from this "terrific" vacation our broth and his wife chose for us. When we got into the room at the hotel, there was a huge hole in the bedspread, the doors to the closets were hanging from one hinge. The carpet was so soiled you sure didn't want to go barefoot.

The physical condition of the hotel was much better than reviews indicated. Our room was clean and quite comfortable, with the exception of the rock-hard mattresses. The bath ameneties were better than standard. The dining room was pleasant and food good and well-presented. The biggest problem with this hotel is the lack of guest service. Desk clerks were, for the most part, rude and not at all helpful. When calling the hotel post-check-out, was put on hold twice, eating up cell-phone minutes.
Aside from the above-mentioned items, all was well overall.

I knew it was bad when, I opened the door to our room and it smelled like feet, body odor, and Dorito's. However, the smell wasn' t as bad as the sanitation issues. There was a bag of crused chips under the bed, hair on the sheets and in the shower, and soap all over the sink. I was so disgusted. I WILL NEVER STAY AT A RAMADA INN AGAIN!!!

By the way, this was also part of the "sunny Florida vacation" package that I had bought, the one with the video and cruise. I hate learning things the hard way!

The worst

I can not remember staying at a Ramada Inn as poor as this one. I only saw one cockroach, but that was enough. My daughter says a bug bit her leg while she was sleeping. We couldn't find any bugs, but she had new bug bites. This hotel is 8 miles from the beach. The bathtub drained very slowly and had a bathtub ring. The carpet in our room had many stains. There was a dead bug on the floor when we checked in. The pool was small and very busy. The only good thing about the hotel was the small bar and the nice bartender. If I would not have been on a vacation package from Vacation Village that I had prepaid, I would have been out of this hotel after the first day. They are painting some walls, but this place needs a lot of work. I do not know how Ramada allows these guys to use their name.

Cancel Your Trip

Here is a message for those of you looking into booking a trip to this resort or with the Ramada Plaza Resort company: Don't do it.

I would like to thank everyone who has submitted their experiences on this website (and other sites that talk about major rip-offs). I wish I would have checked the site before I made MY phone call to Ramada Plaza Resorts. I feel like such an idiot - I know better than to do something so stupid - but of course the trip sounded so good and then the pressure they put on you is something else. I called first, gave my credit card and THEN searched the web for information on the trip, hotel, and the company. "A dump" - it sounds much worse than that.

I'm saying thank you to everyone because if I had waited any longer to research this vacation, I would have lost my money. From the time I booked the vacation to the time I did the research was 1/2 hour. Then I called back Ramada Plaza Resorts to cancel. It did take 3 RPR people but only 20 minutes - they cancelled it without too much pressure. I have to admit that I didn't tell them I did the research and found all your great information. I did tell them that I was pressured to buy without consulting with my husband and now he was furious with me. I made it sound like I was about to cry which really made them believe me.

I wish we could get the word out about this company and the scam it is before someone else has to go this. Thank you all again for your information - you saved me a lot of headaches, time, and money. I'm sorry you had to go through all of the problems.

Do it yourself! Start with AAA. Go to any travel website. Try the travel options on your club warehouse membership. There are many ways to get a great vacation and a great hotel without buying into someone calling you and telling you how great their "resort" is. Great, even good hotels don't have to call people to get them to come. The only groups who do that are desperate to get people to stay, or have some type of timeshare promotion going on that they are hoping you'll buy into. Be sure to look at the reviews from people who have stayed in the hotels. If they are rated low, then you know you're going to get exactly what you pay for on some great bargain, which is the bottom of the barrel. Your vacation, whether across the country or across the world, should be memorable for all of the right reasons and none of the wrong ones. Your hotel is the first impression toward that goal or that tragedy. Choose wisely and have a great vacation!
