s best effort

from JeanneFromCt
Booked this hotel since society of thoracic surgeons meeting was in Fort Lauderdale. The area around the hotel isn't the greatest and I did not feel a woman alone could venture anywhere after dark and really feel safe. Also the only food choices were sports bars. Therefore, I ate most meals at the hotel restaurant. The food was very good and the staff very nice. This hotel was expensive and yet I had to endure three hours of music for their happy hours 4-7pm every day. Also until the day I checked out, the room wasn't cleaned until nearly 5pm. All this meant there was no place to have any peace and quiet. I really don't think this was Marriott's best effort. There were a few staff people with attitude. Again, not what I am used to at Marriott properties.

Great Weekend At the Courtyard!

from Kevbat
I brought my son and nephew for the long MLK weekend in Ft. Lauderdale. We got two rooms with a beautiful ocean view for $179.00/night/room. This rate was 25% off the rack rate on a promotion that Marriott had on the website. The rooms were beautiful from the 42" LCD HD TV's to the new showers with granite sinks. The hotel opened three months earlier.
The hotel is located right on AIA at the beach and about 100 yards from LasOlas Blvd. You can catch a trolley back and forth all day to the shops and bars for $.50 each way (via Las Olas Blvd.)
The only draw back was the $26/day for valet parking. Although the pick up and drop off of our car was easy and fast.
I've already booked next year's trip. I'm using Marriott points next year, because the rate is much higher ($379.00 /night as of now).

Great Beach Hotel

from bchfanatic
Stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Ft. Lauderdale Beach Jan 17-19 Pre-cruise. This hotel was more than i ever expected.
A little put off by the Lobby..didn't look nice on the way in. My husband turned to me and said, are you sure they just remodeled. Our rooms weren't ready and said we would have to wait til 3:00 pm but if we wanted we could have a intercoastal handicapped room. We took it and went to lunch at the Beach Place up the street. When we came back, we were treated to an ocean view corner room. The room was great, amazing view, couch, flat screen tv. The staff were very helpful.

We didn't each at the restaurant, mainly because it was too expensive and there were many other options nearby. The location was amazing....the beach across the street, lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. We took the trolley up to 17th street for dinner one night.

We spent one afternoon on the pool deck by the tiki bar. I was disappointed that the pool was not heated and very very cold.
They had live music at night and was nice to sit out by the ocean for cocktails.

Would love to go back to this hotel with Priceline prices, not sure about the rack rates.

Great location, helpful staff, clean rooms.

ARRIVAL: Stayed at the Courtyard Jan. 21-25th. Located right across the street from the beach.(As all beachfront hotels in Ft. Lauderdale are since there is a beautiful sea wall, sidewalk along the beachfront.) Easy to pull into, valet parking is required, and keep in mind that this is $25.00 dollars a day plus tipping the valet, so add 30-35 more dollars a day to your room if you drive in. Valet service quick, and all valets welcome you back, retrieve your car quickly, and offer directions to anywhere you want to go.
CHECK-IN: The front staff was friendly and efficient, asking us if we prefer an upper story or lower story room, and there is a manager(?) that sits just back from the front staff next to the elevator. I guess he answers questions or gets things for you but he looked like a mafia boss to me and we never really needed him or had any problems. Check in took five minutes.
ROOMS: Our room was very clean, with a flat screen TV, a wide array of current movie options at night (ten bucks), and a decent amount of channels. Our intercoastal view was excellent and is actually the preferred view of some. Housekeeping is quick, courteous, and more than adequate. Bring your own water, only options are tap (tastes bad) and the five dollar Fiji that appears in all hotel rooms these days. We noticed no noise other that next door neighbor door opening and closing. Noticed no music noise as others on here have.
LOCATION: What more could you want? Excellent location to beachfront and walking distance to a week's worth of eating and entertainment. Located right next to Las Olas Blvd; however, do not be fooled that it's a short walk over the bridge to get to the upscale shopping, eating, and Riverwalk district of Las Olas, I would recommend driving or a cab as it would be a little over a mile walk, and more when you get to Las Olas upscale area, If you do choose to walk you will be treated to an excellent view of the multi-million dollar homes on the waterfront. There is plenty of parking in the Las Olas area.
OVERALL OPINION: Excellent choice for the beach area. I hate valet parking( I like to get my own car and go, go, go...and for thirty bucks a day I can walk around the corner and get my car, which is what they do as I could see my car walking to my room one night. Or make the valet parking free and encourage tips, which most do anyhow.) Clean rooms, good service, no need to travel far. I would return for sure if not for valet parking, it just rubs me the wrong way.

Wonderful New Property

from NavigatorX2
After a VERY BAD experience at the RENAISSANCE FLL we were fortunate that Marriott rewards moved us to this property. We had arrived FLL for a one night pre-cruise stay. I was a little hesitant to move to a Courtyard but I was really surprised as my daughter and I just loved this hotel. This is a full service hotel, not your average Courtyard! The staff went above and beyond. The brand new rooms are beautiful. Comfortable beds and awesome views of the ocean, the port and the intercoastal. The room was very, very clean and quiet! Large flatscreen HD TV. Great location as we walked to everything. Excellent outdoor area with food, drink, music and the ocean! The food was very good. We had breakfast and dinner and the staff/servers were wonderful. We have now found a permanent pre & post cruise hotel! It was a short taxi ride to the pier. On our return we stayed at Marriott Harbor Beach Resort which was beautiful but very crowded at this holiday week. If I had only know before how nice, comfortable and relaxing the Courtyard is we would have stayed again post cruise. I would and will stay here again and have been trying to spread the word to fellow cruisers on the CC boards! We can't wait to go back and are considering to do so for a weekend getaway!!

loved the courtyard

Have just returned from Florida, we stayed for one night and found the hotel to be very clean, it has only been open about a month, and it shows the beds were very comfortable with large tvs in the rooms. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was right next to the beach. The night we stayed was Winterfeast boat parade which was fantastic and if you get the chance it is well worth going to.

Great Experience! Very Surprised

My wife and I ve just arrived from a 4 nights stay there.
We were extremely surprised for the great job done for the total renovation of this property.
Nice decoration, two flat TV 42" in each room, plenty of space!
Like home. Nice views from our room. Friendly staff. Promptly room service...and exceptional location. Just a step from the beach
Ideal to enjoy a pleasant stay in Fort Lauderdale beach!
I strongly recomended it.

Great Location, Great Views, but stay at nearby Harbor Beach Marriott

from DaphneBernstein
I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel frequently during the past few years and am a gold member of Marriott. As a gold member, I was upgraded to an ocean-view room on the ninth floor. The view was AMAZING! However, this hotel does not offer free breakfast or a concierge floor to loyal guests, which was disappointing because the food in the dining area was horrible and pricey.

Our family of four stayed two nights. There was an outdoor pool that was not used by anyone and was not a great pool for young children. The beach was directly accross the street from the back of the hotel, and we spent some time swimming in the ocean.

The hotel was located within a few blocks of great nite life for younger adults, and within a few miles of excellent shopping and dining on Las Olas. We rented a convertable from the Hertz located at the nearby Harbor Beach Marriott, and when we returned the car to that location, we were very disappointed that we had not stayed at that location. That hotel is located ON the beach, has a great spa which fills the lobby with the aroma of lavendar, a Starbucks and gift shop in the lobby, and a terrific atmosphere. This is the hotel where JW and his family spend their vacation each year during the holidays, and I can certainly see why. It is a little more expensive than the Courtyard, but worth the difference in price. The Courtyard was a little expensive anyway--about $200/night.

The courtyard had been recently remodeled throughtout and was in lovely condition. The service at the front desk and valet was exceptional. This would be a good place to stay for young adults wanting a good location for beach and nightlife or a business traveler with a short stay planned. For a vacation, select the Harbor Beach Marriott.

Regardless, I am a HUGE Marriott fan, and love their hotels.

Awesome hotel

from danmax2007
We just returned from a weekend in Ft. Lauderdale. This place was great. Everything was new. The staff went out of their way to help us and makes sure everything was perfect, which it was. Convenient to everything. Bar with music overlooking the beach. Huge TVs in our bedroom and very comfortable beds. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

Loved this newly reopened hotel

from KayakCrazy
This hotel underwent a major renovation and just opened (Nov, 2007). The staff is new, but very friendly. The decor and service is more "upscale" than I am used to in a Marriott Courtyard. They have a full service restaurant and bar (inside) and a pool with a large patio deck (and another bar) overlooking the beach and ocean.

Our room was very quiet. There were floor to ceiling windows and we could see the ocean, A1A to the south, and the inland waterway to the southwest. The room had a 'fridge, a high-def (flat screen) TV, and an A/C system that provided some "white" noise for sleeping.

My favorite part of the day was late afternoons on the patio where I could enjoy a drink, listen to the live music, and watch the kite-boarders south of us on the beach.

This is a great, small hotel. A nice place to relax and a convenient place for people that want to be at the beach! The staff was very friendly, too

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Ft. Lauderdale Courtyard Marriott Bid on the courtyard through priceline. The hotel was over $300 on Marriott's website and on other travel websites. However, on pricline I got the hotel for $80 a night.

Take the "water bus" There is a water bus that makes a loop around the waterfront and there are stops near this hotel. You can buy an all-day pass and combine a fun narrated trip with a visit to other areas, such as the shops and restaurants on Los Olas (?) Blvd

Stay at the Harbor Beach Marriott Beautiful hotel located on the beach. Water sports, relaxation, spa, dining, great retreat. JW stays here with his family during the holidays.
