Historical Traveller Reviews of Bahia Mar Beach Resort Hotel

We had six excellent nights at this hotel. A wonderful location and very clean and comfortable. The deli does light snacks for breakfast and is very cheap. My only grumble would be we had to pay to park the car. Most hotels are free parking. The water bus is great and the waterfront area is lovely to visit at night. So much more upmarket than Orlando. The staff were all very courteous and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend it to anyone.

Very Nice

We were very pleased with the service and the amenities. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever encountered in a hotel. Close to everything, great access to beach and the marina is beautiful. The only complaint we had was the parking situation. Be warned, parking is at a premium. Valet parking is available.

NIce Place!

Wife and I stayed here last week for two days. Was nervious that it would not be up to our standards (classy and inexpensive) but was pleasantly surprised. The location is great. The rooms had some great views (from the 17 floor!),had new bathrooms and a dressing room that my wife loved for some reason. The pool is small, but the beautiful ocean is large! The restaurant breakfast buffet was poor at best, but there are many wonderful restaurants in Lauderdale. All in all, a good value.

Wonderful Hotel

I just got back from a five night stay at the Radisson Bahia Mar. This was a great hotel and very centrally located. The water taxi was located right at the hotel so it was very convenient to various places. However, keep in mind that they only run every hour so you really have to check the schedule carefully. The room was immaculate at all times. The restaurant there was pricey but I guess that is to be expected. However, there were some restaurants in walking distance. The Oasis Cafe was up the block and across the street. Very cute place overlooking the ocean. The pool was area was great. Plenty of chairs and as cute tiki bar as well. I'd highly recommed this hotel to anybody.

My stay at BahiaMar Radisson in Ft Lauderdale

from A TripAdvisor Member
Between April 30 to May 3, 2004 we stayed at this hotel . We came down for the annual Air and Sea Show. I can only describe this hotel as excellent ! We stayed in the oceanside tower building on the 5th floor. The room was extremely clean and well maintained. The entire hotel was well maintained from what we could observe. The 2nd floor restaurant has an excellent buffet breakfast available. The staff was courteous and professional. The hotel is located next to the marina which has the Water Taxi base which I recommend for getting around to visit the various bars and restaurants located along the Intracoastal waterway and greater Ft Lauderdale waterway system. You can avoid a lot of travel hassles by taking the WaterTaxi. There are pleanty of amenities provided, conseierge desk very helpful. Visit their website at www------------

Wonderful place to stay.

We are 3 middle age woman who were visiting friends in Fort Lauderdale area. I booked the Bahia Mar Beach Resort based on the reviews of this web site. We were there March 16 for 2 nights, during Spring Break. We were pleasantly surprised. Wonderful beach access, great pool area, wonderful food. Room was fine. Had mini bar. One problem which is common in Florida is the room had double beds rather than Queens or Kings. Parking was another problem. Had to pay whether valet or doing your own. Could use more parking spaces. But all in all would definitely go back there.

A nice hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I spent several nights at the Radisson during the first week of February. It's in a great location and just blocks to many restaurants and bars. It is across from the beach, but attached by a skywalk... The pool area is actually on the second floor of the hotel, and the view is looking down on the marina...quite nice. The pool is a nice size, with lots of space and chairs to sit around the deck, and there is a bar next to the pool. The hotel has a resort setting, with a few shops, which made it interesting. I didnt eat at this hotel, so I wont comment on the food, but I will say that the restaurant, which overlooks the marina (beautiful view) could have been a bit more inviting looking ...that might have drawn me in. The room was nicer than I expected. The furniture was up to date, really great pictures on the walls...but the bathroom, was small, even though the vanity sink was separate. The sheets on the bed were a little too short, so I had to fix it before I got in it....that's something that really bothers me. (That's my only real complaint)....and we had a nice view of the marina, which we could enjoy from our small step-out terrace. Well with all the nit-picking out of the way, I did think that this was a pretty nice hotel. Good location, great view, nice pool, comfortable nicely decorated room. I spent half my vacation at the Radisson and the other half at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper...Each of these hotels had their own special charm... Would I stay at the Radisson again? Absolutely....

Reservation system a joke

from A TripAdvisor Member
We booked a room in October for our January 2004 stay. We requested a non-smoking room in the tower with a king-sized bed & ocean view. The reservation staff confirmed that our room would be just that. When we checked in, we were informed that our room was a smoking room with two twin beds in the tower. When I showed the desk clerk my confirmation, he mumbled something about having smoking rooms only (it is 4:30 in the afternoon, not midnight.) The desk clerk offered us a $6.00 discount and suggested that he could give us a non-smoking room in the walk-up complex, no view, twin beds. The desk clerk offered this room at a lower rate so we accepted as we are tired, have no transportation and carrying 3 large suitcases. The stay was fine, we did not go into the main part of the hotel so I can not comment on the services offered. If you are booking at the Radisson, be warned that you could end up with something totally different then your request as they do not know how to honour a reservation.

Good location, nice staff.

Just spent 3 nights at the Bahia Mar (1/16 - 1/19)and enjoyed it. Great location, adjacent to the beach, water taxi's and other nighttime attractions. Rooms were clean, though they were smaller. Staff was very accomodating and knowledgeable of the area. Pool and fitness were both well kept. Would certainly stay here again.

Overpriced and disappointing

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at Bahia Mar Dec 18,2003. Very disappointed. Be advised--not only is this hotel overrated, but OVERPRICED for what is received. You are charged extra for taxes, occupancy tax and yes parking in their lot each day with extra tax on top of that price. We paid 169 a night and by the time our bill came it was over 200 a night!! For an "tower room" that at best, was average. Be advised--there are NO balconeys!! What they advertise as a balconey is a ledge--one person can barely stand on. The view was great however-it would have be nice to be able to have a balconey to sit on and look at the view. Staff is great and helpful.
Will not stay there again. Lots of other hotels in the area.Rooms definetely need upgrading. And they did not turn down the beds at night--for all that money??

Top Local Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Water Taxi A must! Very relaxing and interesting. You can see more of Fort Lauderdale and relax and see some awesome views.

Trini's Very expensive so do not be surprised if your cognac costs $200 a glass. Well worth the price and wait, very friendly staff so go a head and get pampered for once. We all deserve to....

Las Olas Riverfront Las Olas Blvd has lots of expensive, trendy restaurants and boutiques. After an nice dinner, head to the Las Olas Riverfront for the bars and clubs. Friday's and Saturday nights are the most popular.
