Okay but not great

from RNY
We stayed three nights at the Marriott on the corner of Ocean Blvd and Atlantic Ave from Jan 1-3, 2006. It is across Ocean Blvd from the ocean/beach. The first night we were given a room on the 3rd floor (311) with a partial view of the ocean but mostly a view across a huge ugly roof. We requested to be moved to full ocean view on a higher floor and the morning of Jan 2nd we moved to 422 in the south tower. The room and balcony were larger and faced the ocean. With the sliding door closed I was surprised at how quiet the room was considering how busy Ocean Blvd is at that intersection. The hotel is old but in fairly good condition. They just opened an adults only pool which is nice. There was extensive scaffolding on the north tower but no work was being done while we were there but I would guess that would add to the noise. There are many good restaurants (mostly Italian) within an easy walk up Atlantic Ave. I think next time we'll look for a newer hotel directly on the beach so we don't have to deal with crossing traffic to get to the beach or the road noise.

A classy hotel

Stayed for 1 week in July 05,with my wife and two kids. We have nothing but praise for the hotel, the staff, and location were all excellent. Looks like there has been a recent refurbishment, the quality of our room fittings was very good. We stayed the 2nd week at Clearwater, where the hotel was the complete opposite, so no prizes for guessing our best week!
The Delray is advertised in some brochures as having a meditteranean feel. As someone who knows the med well I agree, only the Delray area didn't have the annoying time share touts who ambush you in the med resorts!
I definitely recommend this hotel to all.

Enjoyed our stay

We stayed at the Delray Marriott at the beginning of July. Check-in was OK - I think some of the Reception staff could take some Customer Service lessons from the Hotel Manager (he seemed very nice) - some of them are just too abrupt for my liking.

Our room itself was lovely but the view was of Atlantic Avenue. As we were there for a week we asked if we could change but were told no, as it was one of their busiest weekends (July 4th) the hotel would be full. Pool was great, food good value, drinks certainly cheaper than South Beach Miami!

Firework display at Delray Beach on the 4th was amazing - certainly beats any display I've seen in the UK. Problem was a "stray" firework caused a blackout in the hotel from about 10pm, which meant no lights/TV/air-con. Now I can live with this what I couldn't live with was the noise from the Emergency Generator - what a nightmare! The hotel are refunding the nights accommodation which is fine but what I don't expect after having a disturbed nights sleep, is a snotty receptionist, when I dare to ask when the electricity might be back on (it was supposed to be by 11am the following day)!

Overall a really good holiday, Delray Beach is great and the Marriott could be, with a couple of adjustments.

Wow - Great updates

I was at the DRB Marriott for a class reunion. Having grown up in Delray, I can remember when the property was a few small buildings. The property has gone through many changes - all for the good. The updates and additions are wonderful. The staff is great and the crowded pool problems must have been addressed because we saw no evidence of it.

Very Nice

this hotel did a very fine job hosting our business meetings. Excellent facilities, great organization and a friendly cooperative staff.

The accomodations were very good, although one night I had to make a call to the desk regarding noisy guests below me and outside. They promptly dealt with it and honored my request to relocate to another room, even though the hotel was nearly full with wedding and other party guests.

The atmosphere is what you might call relaxed elegance, and it's proximity to this beautiful little town and beaches is a plus. The beaches, restaurants, clubs and shopping are all within walking distance.

Marvellous holiday - cant wait to go back!!

Spent 11 days at the Delray Beach Marriott Hotel. Everything was perfect including the weather. Food was excellent in all areas and very good value. Only downside were the drinks - pretty expensive. Bar in the main lounge was never very well stocked.

Would go back again - bars and restaurants outside the hotel were plentiful and of a high standard.

Ones to go to:

Green Owl Restaurant for your breakfast (v. good value)
Lunar Rosa - Italian cuisine - just over the road from the hotel
Bostons Upper deck restaurant and bar - good food and a magnificent view of the ocean and beach.

Would like my holiday to start all over again!

Enjoyed My Stay!

from Touristdb
I just returned from a very nice stay at the Delray Beach Marriott. I would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in this area and I would make a return visit if in the area.

The location is great, being right in town, and right on Ocean Blvd. (actually across the street from the beach, but just like being right on it). The location allowed us to easily walk to different restaurants in town for dinner each night. We had a partial ocean view room facing the pool which was really perfect -- it was great to look south along the beach and listen to the waves during the night with the terrace door open. The room was very comfortable, spacious and attractive. The air conditioner was quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable. They put a sheet over the blanket which is classy and makes a fussy person like myself feel more comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. Turn down service at night was a nice little bonus.

We had a special rate that included the breakfast buffet. We ate outside on the terrace of the restaurant each morning which was incredibly delightful. The buffet was very comprehensive and tasty. The omelet chefs were very talented, especially the one during the week. I would have considered the buffet a bit pricey at $13 if it had not been included in the room rate. I've had slightly more limited buffet breakfasts in Florida at the Marriott Courtyard for $7.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, including the concierge. The pool area got crowded from time to time. I think we were there during a school break and people grabbed up the lounge chairs early. But, we never were unable to find two chairs. Some other reviewers on this web site had complained that people used the pool area who were not staying in the hotel due to easy access to the pool. I took note of this and want to report that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday they had a security guard at the pool entrance who verified that each person was, in fact, staying at the hotel. So, it seems they are addressing this problem. I didn't see the guard there on Monday, but I suppose weekends tend to be the busiest, although, as I mentioned, I believe this was a school vacation week and it was busy.

They had nightly entertainment in the hotel lobby bar which was nice, albeit a bit loud for a hotel lobby. On the weekends, at the pool bar they had a fantastic duo of musicians playing soft/easy listening jazz and popular tunes. We thought the musicians were great and it was a pleasant touch to add to the relaxation. They didn't play too loudly so that you could still sleep or read a book around the pool.

All in all, we loved our stay and were pleasantly surprised with this hotel choice. I'll just add that off-season or promo rates make it a lot more palatable.

Beautiful Hotel

We stayed in this beautiful hotel in early March 2005. It is located across the street from the ocean. All you do is cross over AIA and you're on the beach. We had an ocean-front room with a balcony on the 4th floor which was perfect. If you want an ocean front room, you need to make sure that you insist on what floor you want when you make your reservation. The room was clean , the beds were very comfortable and the sheets were in great condition. The hotel has a clean excercise room and also has massage/body treatment services. The pool was very pretty, but a bit crowded.

Hotel staff was basically friendly. The front desk gentleman from Bayside was especially helpful to us.

You're smack on Atlantic Avenue, so you're within walking distance access to so many cafes, restaurants and shops.

Valet parking was, I believe, $9.00 a day.

The only draw back is the cost of lounge chairs/umbrellas on the beach. A private company runs this service. Two days for a single lounge chair and umbrella cost $21.

I recommend this hotel! It's a classy place.

Great hotel right across from the beach!

from napatree
We stayed here for two nights in Dec.04 and one night in Feb.05 for a mixed business and pleasure trip. We LOVE this hotel. Great rooms. Nice view. The service was impeccable. Room service is quick and delicious. Drinks beside a very nice pool with lots of chairs, towels, everything you need. Delray itself is lots of fun. Shopping and restaurants galore. We plan to go back strictly for pleasure in the near future!

Overpriced, but not bad

from bethanyinpa
The Delray Beach Marriott is conveniently located to shopping within walking distance and the beach across the street. It was clean and the service was o.k. The only real problems came when they charged my credit card instead of my employers (had taken mine for incidentals and my employers for the room) and when I brought it to their attention a few days after I checked out, their response was, "wouldn't it be easier for you to just have your employer write you a check?". Yes, that would have been easier - for THEM. Not entirely interested in giving me good customer service once they had their money and I had checked out. They also tried to charge me for valet parking when I didn't have a car with me.
A bit pricey - we paid $205 per night for a room with one bed and that was supposedly a block rate for a conference???

Top Local Tips for Delray Beach

Caffe Luna Rosa Almost next door to the Marriott and a good value for high end cuisine. Well, sort of high end cuisine. The service and wine selections are outstanding.

Day Trip Make sure you take a ( 45 minute) afternoon trip up extremely scenic route A1A to Palm Beach for an afternoon strolling, eating and, of course, shopping in the pretty cloistered garden courtyards off Worth Avenue.

Bring sunblock & a way to stay cool! This may be a no-brainer to most, but this was our first trip to Florida (and we came in July!) and we were really overwhelmed by the heat and humidity.
