Okay but not greatfrom RNY
A classy hotelfrom mfitz90
The Delray is advertised in some brochures as having a meditteranean feel. As someone who knows the med well I agree, only the Delray area didn't have the annoying time share touts who ambush you in the med resorts!
I definitely recommend this hotel to all.
Enjoyed our stayfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Our room itself was lovely but the view was of Atlantic Avenue. As we were there for a week we asked if we could change but were told no, as it was one of their busiest weekends (July 4th) the hotel would be full. Pool was great, food good value, drinks certainly cheaper than South Beach Miami!
Firework display at Delray Beach on the 4th was amazing - certainly beats any display I've seen in the UK. Problem was a "stray" firework caused a blackout in the hotel from about 10pm, which meant no lights/TV/air-con. Now I can live with this what I couldn't live with was the noise from the Emergency Generator - what a nightmare! The hotel are refunding the nights accommodation which is fine but what I don't expect after having a disturbed nights sleep, is a snotty receptionist, when I dare to ask when the electricity might be back on (it was supposed to be by 11am the following day)!
Overall a really good holiday, Delray Beach is great and the Marriott could be, with a couple of adjustments.
Wow - Great updatesfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Very Nicefrom deckm
The accomodations were very good, although one night I had to make a call to the desk regarding noisy guests below me and outside. They promptly dealt with it and honored my request to relocate to another room, even though the hotel was nearly full with wedding and other party guests.
The atmosphere is what you might call relaxed elegance, and it's proximity to this beautiful little town and beaches is a plus. The beaches, restaurants, clubs and shopping are all within walking distance.
Marvellous holiday - cant wait to go back!!from A TripAdvisor Member
Would go back again - bars and restaurants outside the hotel were plentiful and of a high standard.
Ones to go to:
Green Owl Restaurant for your breakfast (v. good value)
Lunar Rosa - Italian cuisine - just over the road from the hotel
Bostons Upper deck restaurant and bar - good food and a magnificent view of the ocean and beach.
Would like my holiday to start all over again!
Enjoyed My Stay!from Touristdb
The location is great, being right in town, and right on Ocean Blvd. (actually across the street from the beach, but just like being right on it). The location allowed us to easily walk to different restaurants in town for dinner each night. We had a partial ocean view room facing the pool which was really perfect -- it was great to look south along the beach and listen to the waves during the night with the terrace door open. The room was very comfortable, spacious and attractive. The air conditioner was quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable. They put a sheet over the blanket which is classy and makes a fussy person like myself feel more comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. Turn down service at night was a nice little bonus.
We had a special rate that included the breakfast buffet. We ate outside on the terrace of the restaurant each morning which was incredibly delightful. The buffet was very comprehensive and tasty. The omelet chefs were very talented, especially the one during the week. I would have considered the buffet a bit pricey at $13 if it had not been included in the room rate. I've had slightly more limited buffet breakfasts in Florida at the Marriott Courtyard for $7.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, including the concierge. The pool area got crowded from time to time. I think we were there during a school break and people grabbed up the lounge chairs early. But, we never were unable to find two chairs. Some other reviewers on this web site had complained that people used the pool area who were not staying in the hotel due to easy access to the pool. I took note of this and want to report that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday they had a security guard at the pool entrance who verified that each person was, in fact, staying at the hotel. So, it seems they are addressing this problem. I didn't see the guard there on Monday, but I suppose weekends tend to be the busiest, although, as I mentioned, I believe this was a school vacation week and it was busy.
They had nightly entertainment in the hotel lobby bar which was nice, albeit a bit loud for a hotel lobby. On the weekends, at the pool bar they had a fantastic duo of musicians playing soft/easy listening jazz and popular tunes. We thought the musicians were great and it was a pleasant touch to add to the relaxation. They didn't play too loudly so that you could still sleep or read a book around the pool.
All in all, we loved our stay and were pleasantly surprised with this hotel choice. I'll just add that off-season or promo rates make it a lot more palatable.
Beautiful Hotelfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel staff was basically friendly. The front desk gentleman from Bayside was especially helpful to us.
You're smack on Atlantic Avenue, so you're within walking distance access to so many cafes, restaurants and shops.
Valet parking was, I believe, $9.00 a day.
The only draw back is the cost of lounge chairs/umbrellas on the beach. A private company runs this service. Two days for a single lounge chair and umbrella cost $21.
I recommend this hotel! It's a classy place.
Great hotel right across from the beach!from napatree
Overpriced, but not badfrom bethanyinpa
A bit pricey - we paid $205 per night for a room with one bed and that was supposedly a block rate for a conference???
Top Local Tips for Delray Beach
Caffe Luna Rosa Almost next door to the Marriott and a good value for high end cuisine. Well, sort of high end cuisine. The service and wine selections are outstanding.
Day Trip Make sure you take a ( 45 minute) afternoon trip up extremely scenic route A1A to Palm Beach for an afternoon strolling, eating and, of course, shopping in the pretty cloistered garden courtyards off Worth Avenue.
Bring sunblock & a way to stay cool! This may be a no-brainer to most, but this was our first trip to Florida (and we came in July!) and we were really overwhelmed by the heat and humidity.
