The worst place in Daytona Beach

It was my third time to Daytona Beach. I booked a room and paid 10 days before I arrived at the hotel. When I arrived no room availaible. no refund. The next day they give us a room but not like I paid for. 2 day after, our key card for the door wasn't working because they did a mistake on the departure date. No excuse. Nothing.

The room wasn't anything like what I saw on the internet. Room was small, it smelled like an armpit, and the manager was very rude when I asked for my money back. They still charged me 179$ on my credit card when I only stayed 25 minutes. This place is a run down ripp off of a hotel.

Dont stay here!!!! They overcharge your credit card and then won"t refund you!!!! BEWARE!!!!! This is not a joke have been trying for 3 months to get my credits and they just dont care!

My family stayed at the plaza for a week, and we all got facials and massages at the spa, and they were WONDERFUL!! Everybody was so friendly and it was the best massage I ever had in my life! We WILL be back.

AWFUL- Beware...

I booked 60 rooms at The Plaza a few months ago for a 5-night convention in Daytona. The hotel looks beautiful from the outside and the main areas are very nicely furnished. However, once the conference began, I experienced nothing but problems. Some issues included: 1- Many rooms were dirty with missing towels. When the guests called to the front desk, they were promised immediate service, which never arrived. 2- The front desk workers were rude to the guests and just didn't seem happy to be there. One of the front desk clerks actually blamed my co-project manager for "demagnitizing" her key, when it suddenly stopped working midweek.
3- Pre-arranged wakeup calls either never came, or arrived several times in the middle of the night.
4- The banquet dinner's room was changed at the last minute which caused confusion for the guests.
5- As the convention manager, I asked for bellhop service for help with conference materials, which never arrived.

When I brought up the many concerns to the general manager, he was very nice and attempted to make amends, but nothing could make up for the service we received. Finally, when the bill arrived, the Plaza overcharged us nearly $6,000!

It's too bad, really, since the Plaza looks like a beautiful hotel from the outside. The food was good, and they gave us a good price on the rooms. Other than that though, the experience was one I hope to never repeat.

For starters, the front desk staff was so involved with who was next to go on lunch, that it took us well over 30 minutes to get checked in. The older guy in bell services was completely miserable, and had no time for us. He didn't even let me finish asking for help, before he cut me off and said, "I'm busy, I'm busy, No, I'm busy!". We gathered our things and made our way to the "ocean front" room. Ha!, more like "ocean-in", the AC unit had leaked so badly, that it soaked half of the room. The sweet aromas of mold and mildew blended just right, for that musty welcoming that we all love when we pay $199 for a hotel room. It was the only one left, of course. There was no phone in the room, the bathroom was not cleaned, the waste basket still had trash in it. The mirrors were spattered with remnants of saliva and colgate. The beds smelled as though the marlboro man had napped in them, just before our arrival. There was a beautiful work of art still in progress by Mother Nature herself, up and down the ceiling and wall between the beds. Nothing a fresh coat of paint couldn't hide, had they even cared to cover it up. Room service was terrible, they took 3 + hours to bring us towels, and they even screwed that up! 1 bath towel, 3 hand towels, and 4 wash cloths, (and no sewing kit to even stitch together a second bath towel). The beds were not freshly made the next day, we had to call the front desk twice, and they still never came. The funny thing is, the best part of our weekend, was the traffic back home. There was really nothing to say about this hotel, other than,"@#$% that, never again! I'd like to know the name of the guy at the Health Department, that gets the sweet pay off from the owners of this science experiment!

Remodeled to the tune of $26 million (the original 7-story hotel was built in the early 20th century) in 2000, these elegant adjoining 7- and 13-story buildings now hold some of Daytona Beach's best rooms (in a much more tasteful atmosphere than many of the neighboring hotels)--provided you don't need a large bathroom. The choice units are the corner suites, which have sitting areas and two balconies overlooking the Atlantic; some even have a Jacuzzi. All units have balconies and microwave ovens (an on-premises convenience store sells frozen dinners). The renovations also saw the opening of the full-service Ocean Waters Spa (tel. 386/267-1660), Daytona's only such facility. There are 16 treatment rooms and a soothing menu of facials, massages, and wraps.

Rip Off

Went for Biketober, Hotel was fair at best, towels well used, carpet your feet stuck to. We needed to leave a day early and the manager refused to refund the forth day ($178/d) The whole deal is a rip from the hotel to the cops giving tickets for 2 mph over the limit! DO NOT RECOMMEND go to Mrtle, Sturgis wherever but here! Just my opinion.

actually, it was very good, maybe it was my coming to see a cheerful lady giving out luaha's at the door or the friendliness of the guest.
the rooms were not ready but we understand it was busy, we eventually got a great view and i thoght it was worth my money!!!

Stayed here for Bike Week. Rated as one of the best hotels in Daytona, this place rates a 3 of 5 starts at best. Rooms are Super 8 quality with a view. There's got to be better places to stay in this town but I havn't heard of them.

Terribly over rated

This place is just another dirty must Daytona hotel with a Million Dollar Entrance and dirty shop worn rooms.

My wife and I went there for our Anniversary. The rooms were dirty and old. The patio doors were locked supposeably because of the Sea Turtle.
The Adams Mark next door had all of their patios avaiable for their guest. I have stayed at $50 Daytona Hotels which were nicer.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. I arrived on a Sunday night. Checked in to my room. The room had insufficient lighting, a dirty locked balcony, and had a musty smell. I called the front desk and requested another lamp. I had only one bedside lamp and one table lamp with less than adequate bulbs. The lamp they finally brought to me had no lampshade, and they provided two 130v 100W light bulbs. Later that night, I noticed that I had no trashcan in the room. The phone was not turned on as it was supposed to be. It took them 20 minutes to get the telephone service turned on. The next morning, Monday, at six I asked to have a trashcan left for me at the front desk, so I could get it when I got back. I got back at 7:30 pm that night and there was no trashcan. I had to wait over twenty minutes again, because they could not find a trashcan. This was after threatening to get loud enough to let the entire hotel know what was going on. Tuesday, was uneventful, I was not there for most of the day and did not get back until 10:30pm.
Wednesday Morning, I went to my vehicle to see if my cell phone was there. Upon returning to my room, I found myself locked out. The electronic lock was not working. It took over 40 minutes to get someone there with a key to let me in. Around 7 a.m., I went to the desk to request that it be fixed prior to my family arriving at 4:OO p.m. I called back at 2:00 p.m. and was told it was fixed. At 4:00 p.m. I arrived back to find that the lock was still not fixed. It took over thirty minutes, during which we had to stand in the hallway watching water dripping through the ceiling into a trash can in the middle of the hallway, to get someone there to let us in the room. I demanded a new room and was given one. This one was better, but when I tried to use the telephone, it would not work. I called down to the front desk, and after several calls, my phone still did not work. I called once again they hung up and took their sweet time in answering the telephone. I went downstairs and let loose on them in front of God and the entire hotel. My problem was promptly fixed after that. During that time the Clerk behind the counter was rude, and even ignored a poor lady who had water streaming down into here closet from the shower above. I could continue, but I think you get point. Never Stay Here!

Worse Hotel ever stayed at

I was amazed to read the review from July 19th. We received the exact horrible service. It was by the far the worse hotel I have ever stayed at. I will never ever go to Daytona Beach again. We checked in on July 21st & we had to wait until after 4Pm in order to check into a suite which we were told it was the only one in the hotel (hard to believe that). When we finally were assigned a room we were unable to get into the room simply because the door was completely jammed-it took a total of 10 attempts by the hotel staff (who acted like we were playing games). Having to go back downstairs everytime you leave your room for hotel assistance to even get into your room- very inconvenient. We were told we would have an oceanfront room & I asked before arrival if we would be able to have access out on the balcony. (We were told we could but as we tried opening the balcony we found we were unable to regarding the Turtle situation. Which we could have checked other hotels before arriving (which it seemed every other hotel on the beach was breaking the law since they allowed you to go out on your balcony).
The healthclub looked so much better on paper than in reality. Why is it that hotels say they have a fitness facility when only 1 piece equipment out of 15 works! I would never ever recommend this hotel anyone & it left a very bad taste in my mouth to never go back to Daytona Beach which use to be a childhood memory to go there! For compensation we were "upgarded" to the hospitality suite which had something all over the walls & floor which conveniently overlooked the nightclub downstairs. So, we could hear the bass of the music into the wee hours of the night!

Top Local Tips for Daytona Beach

If possible not in August I enjoy the sun and a warm day as much as the next person, but this past August in Daytona was too much. 93 to 95 every day and humid. At times was too hot for the pool (water was warm and did not provide much relief from the sun). I would recommend Septmeber/August for the best weather.

Getting the best rate Be sure to search for the best rate on the net and don't be afraid to quote it. Some hotels will match it.

Kennedy Space Center If you're visiting Daytona Beach, take an extra day and drive to the Kennedy Space Center near Titusville. It is fabulous and worth every minute.
