Had a great time

from Lorissa
We just got back from IOB. Found the staff very helpful, the rates reasonable, and the hotel pretty clean. The doors to our kitchen and bathroom were banged up but other than that it was a decent room. It's location on the beach is ideal and the views are wonderful. We will be back. (the bar is also fun and cheap!)

WARNING: this hotel is a terrible waste of money do not stay here

First driving up to this hotel i noticed that it wasn't all that great looking, but i was willing to give it a chance. My family and i had reserved a suite with seperate bedroom. The room we had turned out to be the exact one you see in there pictures. The only was that our hotel room didn't have the same furniture in it as the on in the picture. So what the hotel must have done was change the furniture just for the picture. that really made me mad. the furniture looked to be from the 60's. the room was in terrible need for updating. the doors would shut right and the beds were very uncomfortable. the bathroom was dirty and i didnt even take a shower the whole time i was there. our first night there we decided to change hotels. we paid 130 dollars for this hotel which turned out to be a big waste of money. we ended up going to the boardwalk inn and suites and got a real nice suite their for about 40 dollars less. I will never again stay at this hotel and i hope everyone that reads won't even think about staying here. Everything about this hotel was dirty, old, and very uninviting. the cost was way too much for a poor quality hotel. im writing this for you do not stay here. you will be sorry.

A wonderful choice! Great for families!

We booked through Expedia after thorough research on the web, and noted that every hotel on Daytona Beach is either old...or VERY pricey. While it certainly is an older facility, Inn on the Beach was awesome! Almost every room is right on the ocean, the kitchenettes provided us with enough space to cook Christmas breakfast and dinner (for 6)!
AND--sleeping every night with the patio doors open to the sounds of the surf was pure joy! The front desk staff were very helpful, towels were plentiful, and the light but satisfying continental breakfast saved us $$$ on food expenses. We will be back! (Note--we were there over Christmas and had the place, AND the beach, to ourselves!!)

Great View People

Great view just what doctor ordered sun sand surf bikinis. The best bang for buck jim and sonia great proprieters. Get two rooms with adjoining kitchen and save even more.

a pretty good place to stay

My family and I stayed at the IOB in July 2003, we found the motel to be very acceptable, with a nice helpful staff and the room was average.
The pool area is ok. The parking is limited on the weekends due to the club that is located inside the lobby and some security guard thought that I was going to park in a overflow lot when i paied for a room for a week, DON'T THINK SO. The restrauant is very good but a little pricey, but what isn't in Daytona. Overall I would not have a problem with recommending the IOB to anyone.

Great Place to Stay

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights from September 18-20, 2003. We loved it!! The rooms where clean and well stocked with towels. The bathroom was very small, but otherwise comfortable. The staff was courteous and friendly. The hotel offers great values for breakfast, either the free continental from 6-9AM or regular breakfast after 9:00AM (We paid $3.50 for pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage). The pool was clean and the outside jacuzzi was very nice. Also enjoyed the free newspaper outside your hotel room every morning. We had an ocean front room and the balcony was clean. There are fancier more expensive hotels a few miles down, but this was a great value and a great place to stay.

home!!!

Our family makes the trek every year to Daytona Beach Florida and Inn on the Beach is our destination. This summer the family consisted of some 34 people!

It was okay but beach towels sucked.

I loves the prices, hated the beach towels. Be sure to bring your own, they're tiny. Loved the pool, and the guy outside singing was great...
Dave Matthews band and Led Zepplin. He was great and sang well into the night. Came with dishes and soap but no scrubbers. FOund a bug but only one. The patio door.. don't open it unless you want it to stay open.
The outside looked okay to me, and there are 3 elevators... which was very helpful. All in all, for $58 a night, I would stay again because the beds were comy (bring some pillows) and the view was great (if you're above the 3rd floor.. palm trees in your way otherwise) and the clerks were courteous.

Less than desireable

We too, like many others, did extensive research on the internet before our trip to Daytona. We settled on The Inn because of it's many emenities and it's price. It seemed like a good deal for all that they had to offer. I will say that the people were friendly and courteous.
The property itself left much to be desired. The rooms were old and run down. (They are in the process of upgrading their furnishings.) Our closet door was hanging off of its track, you could barely open the patio door and it didn't close all of the way and lock. The reception on the TV was less than perfect and we had to secure the cable to the wall with masking tape in order for the VCR to work. The work out room contained six pieces of equipment. Three of them were broken. The first night, we called the front desk to get extra pillows and sheets twice.
Needless to say, we never got them. We understand that many places in Daytona are older and have seen better days but that doesn't mean that things can't be done to try to fix them up. After 3 nights, we packed up and moved a mile down the beach to a 33 year old property that was in unbelievable shape and cost less to stay there. Drive past the Inn on the Beach, you have other options!

Hotel was average.

I read the reviews for this hotel and researched all area Daytona Beach hotels before deciding on this one. Our family stayed here for one week. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. Towels are extra fluffy and not the cheap, see-through ones. The front desk people were OK but no smiles or "was everything OK during your visit." To get beach towels, putting clubs, or shuffleboard sticks, you must sign these items out and in at front desk so as to not be charged. Hotel was basically clean but the elevator floors were very grungy. Hopefully they'll replace or scrub them soon. The Florida State elevator inspection ran out 8/1/03. Hopefully the State will return. The suite had a good-sized kitchen with all amenities including dish liquid. The hotel's highlight at the bar/pool on Friday night was a male singer with guitar who sang any song - fantastically - including Led Zeppelin.
Guests loved him! He always said he was going to take a break but never did because the people loved his music and made requests. Music was in the evening until 11 pm when the bar and pool shut down. The large clean pool opens at 7 a.m. daily. Some parking on covered ramp and large lot. Right on the ocean. The bathroom must be the smallest ever but is very clean. The door doesn't even open all the way because it hits the tub! The vanity is outside the bathroom. I would stay there again but I may check prices at the new Adam's Mark and the Hilton.
Also noticed many of the mom/pop hotels are dwindling to the new area condos. Steve's restaurant across the street - great food. 7-11 across from the hotel - think it may be open 24 hours. The boardwalk is one mile north - an easy walk on the beach or the road if you don't want to drive. Hotel free breakfast 6-9 am same daily: blueberry muffins, plain bagels, toast, 2 kinds of cereals, oj, coffee. It was a very good vacation that the whole family enjoyed for about $69 night.

Top Local Tips for Daytona Beach

Stay at the Ocean Walk! Daytona Beach has really come a long way since the early to mid 1990's. The city has cleaned up in an effort to cater to families and those seeking relaxing vacations at the beach. I highly recommend visiting Daytona Beach - but spend a little more more and enjoy one of the nicer resorts. You wont be sorry.
