Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Desert inn. I ordered a sunset view suite and I was very happy with the accomodations. The suite had a big bedroom with a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The view from the balcony was very relaxing, and the blcony was big enough for us all to enjoy. The room was clean, you could walk on the tile without your shoes and not worry about your sock getting dirty. The was plenty of parking and the staff at the front desk was very informative on local attractions. My family and I stayed here for alomst a week and we all had an enjoyable stay.

Best time we had in a long time. The staff and room were realy nice. We stayed in a suite which was really roomy and clean. My kids were kept buzy on the pool deck with the DJ between the music and contest he ran. The food was great in the restaurant. Can't say enough! We will be back!

The Desert Inn is a great hotel. It was recently remodeled and it looks wonderful. I stayed there for 3 nights in October and I was very happy with my accomodations. My room was exactly what I had reserved. The beds were comfortable, the Room was very spacious, and the entire hotel is emaculate! The ocean view from my room was breathtaking! In all, I was very satisfied and would definatly recommend the Desert Inn to anyone looking for quality time in Daytona Beach!

Plain and simple, I had an awesome time this summer when I came and don't understand the bad review. Hotel was just fine and dandy, friendly staff everywhere from the front desk to the bartenders. Great view of the beach too if you're into just looking instead of participating. Otherwise, we just went right down onto the beach FROM the pool deck! Pool deck always has tons of people to mingle with the entire weekend and everything is within walking distance. When it gets dark out you can hit up the arcades down on the boardwalk, go to the oceanfront restaurants, or hit up one of the nearby clubs. Whatever floats your boat, you're sure to find nearby here.

We stayed at the Desert Inn and loved it. My husband and I are planning on going back. They had a live DJ and my teenager daughter and her boyfriend loved it and so did we.

this place was insane. Yea its a s***hole, but you could do whatever, wherever, whenever. Strip contests, freestyle contests, all on the back deck. this week was so sick. If you want a cheap hotel where you can go nuts, this is it.

Vomit smell everywhere! It should be condemned. The health department in Daytona should shut this place down. I used to spend a lot of time (and money) in Daytona... but never again... they allow this place to call itself a resort. Roaches might like this place, but human beings should steer clear!

This hotel is GREAT!! The rooms were spotless and everything was in order when we arrived. They gave me a pass for my car so i could use their parking lot. The staff was wonderful and any problems we had they took care of right away. Aside from our left over vomit from the night before this hotel was wonderful. I definately recommend this hotel to future spring breakers! The pool deck parties were great and their contests were awesome!

Everything about this place is horrible!!!!! stay away.... Don't stay on street side.... Street noise will keep you awake. Leaks everywhere. advertisement of prices misleading. rooms are small.... if they would spend as much money as they do on false advertisement and clean up the place it would be nice. outdoor pool nice, and DJ outdoor pool nice...

Never Again

Never Again! If you saw the picture of this hotel you would think it was a dream come true. WRONG! We were there only one night, after the fact that we looked at 5 different rooms and still didn't get a good room. For that night we stayed in two rooms, neither were good. When we were unpacking some DRUNK guy asked our 14 and 16 year old daughters if he could use their bathroom because his DID NOT work. After we unpacked we headed to the pool. This wasn't as bad but the drunks were there too. There were also people who just walked off the beach and used to area to party. Instead of going to the outside pool my daughters went to the indoor pool. Later that day the girls and their younger brother went to the indoor pool. When they got there, there were teenage girls SKINNY DIPPING. Let me tell you, this pool is in the middle of the lobby. Everyone who comes in could see them too. This was only day one.
The next day when we woke up there was food in the pool and someone had VOMITED in the pool. That was enough for us. We packed up and went to the Hawawiian Inn. I recommend this hotel.

After reading the Desert Inn reviews, all I can say is right on. Having been sucked in with all sorts of claims and promises about the DI by the hotel front desk personal, we booked a week during Biketober Fest 2002. What a mistake!!!! In New England this place would have been sued for false advertising and closed down for being a disgrace. The so called carpeting was filthy in the lobby, stairs, halls and in our room. The lock to our room was like no lock at all because the door didn't line up with the frame. After about 3 tries a grumpy employee managed to fix it. Next they had to replace the metal slide for the balcony slider which was rusted and not functional. After having looked at a brochure provided by the DI, we kept asking to be moved to a room like the one shown in our brochure and on the net. Surprise, they had none available. The promised poolside entertainment and parties were at other locations in Daytona , and that is where we will stay when we come back in November of 2003 and March of 2004. Burned once but never again by a lousy hotel, bad food, as well as a group of unfriendly employees from the front desk to the bar. Cheers!

The Sahara Desert would be more comfortable

We reserved 1 suite and 2 adjoining rooms at this hotel. When we arrived, we were told that there were no more suites available. We ended up getting 4 adjoining rooms for our entire family (12 people).
The air conditioning in my mother's room didn't work properly. My sister had ants in her bathroom as well as the kitchen, and we had no place to sit as a family and eat together. I had to go out and buy slippers because the carpets are so nasty that your feet turn black if you walk around barefoot. There are no ice machines, there is no air conditioning in the halls, and there was mold on the ceilings. The only good thing about the hotel was that the air conditioning in our room worked and we received free movies because our remote didn't work.

t call this a vacation

reservations had been made in advance. this was a vacation where we could spend quiet time and relaxation with our grandchildren . we left out on july 19, saturday morning couldnt wait till we got there. we arrived at 7:00 pm that evening. my daughter went in to get us checked in. she was given a key they told us where we could park. after we got parked we all got out to go up to the room. we had to walk through water which was standing in the basement and the steps. once we got to the room we all stood appauled. we couldn't believe what our eyes were seeing. the room was dirty, it smelled like fish, holes in the wall, carpet dirty, in kitchen the top of the ceiling was swaying down. this was to be a 2 br but there were only 2 beds in one room. this was not anything like what they said it would be. the door was not secure. no dead bolts or locks. we went down to front desk , told them we were not satisfied with accomodations. asked to be refunded (manager not on site).said they would move us to a larger room next morning. we left rode up and down strip looking for somewhere to stay. we were fortunate we found a hotel with only a few vacancie left. we got settled down for the night.after leaving the desert inn i started itching and breaking out in whelps. our grandsons had to experience all this. think twice before you book. it was all deceiving and misleading.

the worst ever

On July 19, my husband and I drove to Daytona, for our anniversary. It was getting cloudy, and we were ready for a room and we saw The Desert Inn, and decided to try it. Let me start with when we got there, fisrt I asked for the rate, the guy said 129.00 and that wasn't ocean view, I tolled him I had AAA and he said he would give it to us for 99.00+tax.
The guy said to hurry there were 5 rooms left, needless to say there was vacancy all weekend. there was no iron at the front for me to use like the brosure said, our TV didn't work, and the bartender was rude, along with the front desk people, when I asked about our T.V. they said there were more important things that came first. and from the looks of the reviews, i guess so.

Top Local Tips for Daytona Beach

Critter Charters I went on a fishing trip while down here with the family. Worst idea ever. These guys are pretty terrible. We paid almost $200 for 2 adults and 2 children for a half day trip. They scam you on buying a $1 towel to reserve a spot on the rail, then they fish themselves instead of helping you or your kids. Worst still I caught a shark and they gave it out to someone else right in front of me! Save your money, $200 buys alot of fish!

Spring break Daytona is a NO NO Don't goto Daytona for Spring Break theres a million other places. The weather was great but the people/food and general environment was bad.

Not a place for kids and teens Go to a different beach. The sand fleas were horrible. Didn't go to beach or drive on beach because of fleas. There is nothing, other than the beach for kids and teens in Daytona Beach
