Very nice resort

from 4JinOhio
We have some friends who own at this resort and used their unit for our short stay of 3 days. Everything was very nice and clean. When they say heated pools, they mean it. It was nice not to freeze in the outdoor kids pool after the sun goes down. The indoor pool is heated as well and the hot tubs were just that, hot!! I looked at rates if you would just book a room through the resort and it seemed comparable with other hotels there. Wish they had some sort of restaurant or even snack store inside hotel and laundry facilities on each floor (we were spoiled last year by having them in the room) especially with kids. The front desk workers were very nice and helpful. Overall, we would go back in a heartbeat.

Wonderful resort

from OttawaDianne
The resort was absolutely wonderful. The biggest downside was the lack of hot water for a bath or simply for washing dishes.

The management said it was due to the fact that the condo section was pretty vacant . They said to let the water run and that should fix the problem. We let it run 3 hours and just got it about 96.

So when we complained again then they said it was because
the water heater had been moved to the hotel side - but then they adjusted it and were excited that it got up to 100 degrees. Barely enough to wash in.

But the staff tried their best under the circumstances.

I would definitely stay there again and hope they rectify the problem. It is clean, safe, and in a great location.

High marks on accommodations

from emalemi
My husband and I rented a condo at this property from a private owner for one (1) week. Overall we had a wonderful stay with a few minor inconveniences. I'll start with the pros...

We couldn't have asked for more on the accommodations. Our condo included two (2) queen beds, spacious bathroom, table and chairs for dining, and a patio door leading to a small balcony. Everything we could possibly need and sparkling clean. Having a fully stocked kitchenette was great also, with sink, micro, stove and fridge. Very convenient.

The view from our balcony was beautiful. The ocean is almost right below you it seems, and the beach in each direction goes on for miles so it's a great spot for long walks. Day and night we often left our balcony door open so we could enjoy listening to the sounds of the waves. The full moon on the water right outside your window is beautiful. Very nice.

The property also had two (2) large outdoor pools, which were kept very clean. Towels were also provided poolside, so no need to bring your own. The area had plenty of lounge chairs or tables with chairs to choose from, including umbrellas for shade. We never had to worry about the "saving" game, and quite often had the one pool all to ourselves. Maybe getting there around 9 is considered early? Or we just got lucky.

The pools were separated by a nice tiki bar which seemed to open up around lunch time everyday. Nice spot for a cold drink and to purchase a snack. Next to one of the pools on one side was an additional shallow pool with the cascading mushrooms to stand under. Fun spot for small children to get wet, and my husband and I enjoyed this a couple of times ourselves. On the opposite side, was a very small minature golf area. This was offered free to guests and clubs were checked out at the front desk.

An indoor pool along with two (2) jacuzzis was available. A very small fitness center, but most of the aerobic machines were in need of repair. Plenty of other exercise options were available, however; runs on the beach, ocean swimming, laps in the pools, etc.

The hotel was located on the ocean side of A1A. Across the street within walking distance were supermarkets, drug stores, a department store, and several souvenir/beachwear stores. Another plus was the ability to walk to several restaurants and bars, which we took advantage of often.

Overall, the resort is beautiful , or at least those portions of the resort where renovations are completed. Most of the "cons" are associated with those parts of the resort that are not yet finished. For example, during our stay the elevators in our wing of the building weren't always functioning properly, leading to long waits for a trip to the eigth floor. Several times we gave up and walked the stairs. Some of this problem was corrected by the time we left the resort, so it appears to be a temporary issue.
If you are a late sleeper, the construction noise (drilling) starts pretty early for vacationers (8:00 a.m.- ish), but the construction seems to be in its final stages.

The only other negative we can comment on was the arrival of a busload of a couple of hundred teens in a church group mid-week for a conference. Things became a little more hectic around the resort (and the pool) after that, but the perception of overcrowdedness may have been related to the wonderful peace and quiet we'd had prior to their arrival. It was still pretty quiet around the pool during the morning and early afternoon hours.

We would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a (relatively) quiet week at the shore in a clean, convenient, and pleasant location.

WOW - what a great place ON THE BEACH

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just wanted to share our experience with a great vacation for a much needed rest on the beach! The Daytona Beach Resort is right on the beach in the heart of Daytona. Outside your door is lots of sun, sand and water. Out your 'front' door is the main Daytona Beach location - rides for adults and kids, restaurants and shops. The Speedway is near by if the race is on. This is truly in the heart of Daytona Beach.

The room has all the facilities - a kitchen for essentials you need - coffee maker, fridge and stove for light meals. The bed was very comfortable - just like home, the couch and chair were convenient for TV (can't miss the sports) and most important the outdoor area provided comfortable lounges. The large pool was clean and inviting. We spent most of the time relaxing and enjoying the beach and ocean.
And to round it all off, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the service was exceptional.

So, if you are looking for a wonderful beach location where there is unspoiled sandy beach, convenient affordable accommodation and excellent service - this is it.

We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to a return visit.

It was ok for the price

from A TripAdvisor Member
We went down for the Biketoberfest in Daytona. This was my first year staying there but for the price it was not that bad. We booked so early that we payed half the price others did! The room was OK nothing too nice. The floor had some mold on it as well as the bathroom. I do give them one thing though, it was great service! If you called for towels or anything they were right there!

Pick your room carefully

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel is being completely rebuilt - lots of contruction. The hotel really should shut down and complete the repairs but they are trying to make some money in the meantime I suppose. So they redid the lobby and a few rooms on the S side of the hotel, which is the only side open. Make sure you get one of the remodeled rooms or corner suites on the lower levels. And be prepared for lots of construction and dust in the hallways etc. One day we were there some construction mishaps caused a big wave of dust and who knows what else to permeate through the rest of the hotel - including the cleaning carts with the towels and sheets which were out in the hall.

The upsides for the place are the facts that the pool areas (the parts that are open) are nice and the beach in that area is more quiet than Daytona proper.

7:00 a.m. jack hammer wake up call

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at this resort for 5 days in July 2005. It was not what I expected as the lobby and pool deck areas look very clean and nice. Upon further review I found out that in reality this resort is actually an old Holiday Inn that is being remodeled. From the other reviews, apparently the remodeling has been going on for a few years now. We stayed in a condo room that was nice. It was clean and the only bugs we saw were in the hallways. The first morning we were awakened at 7:00a.m. by two maintenance men doing sheetrock work just outside our room. We could hear every word of their conversation. It was if they were standing in our bedroom. I find it unfathomable that they used power tools at this time of the morning in the hallways. Moments later the construction crews that are working on the "tower" kicked in. Jackhammers, hammers, drills, you name it. This happened every day of our stay. The staff and management could not find us another comparable room at the other end of the resort(although by my estimation the place was 20% full at best.) We were told that they would be 100% full 2 days later. We asked about one room specifically," sorry it is taken". It sat empty the entire time we were there. I do not understand what they accomplished by lying about this.
The pools were very nice, two hot tubs(one did not work), the restaurant was never open while we were there. The tiki bar was priced very high(6 bucks a drink.) It is a good location on the beach. They had a sign that said"hotdogs 1.50,chips1.00,soft drinks 1.00, or try our "special" hot dog, chips and drink for 3.50". Sums up the place.
This place has potential, but it will not be acheived under current management. We paid 160 a night, the manager gave us 15 a night off for the noise problem. He would not give us the rate of 119 advertised for AAA customers. Deeply dissapointing. I would not stay here again until the remodeling is completed and even then, for 160 a night, I expect room service and a restaurant on site. You can do much better in Daytona for this price. Heck, you can do better for half this price in Daytona.

The Very Best!!!

from guinnessgirl28
We had a great time! The room was wonderful and the staff was very friendly. The pools were the best. Although it rained almost every day of our 7 day stay, we could take the kids to the indoor pool. We recommend this place to anyone, with or without kids. This was our first vacation as a family, we have a 2 and a 4 year old, and everyone loved it!

No bugs about it

from BreezyLady
I agree, it is not the cleanest hotel....but me and my sister were just so happy cockroaches were not in the room. They really need to update, and clean up the hotel. The mini golf course, the so called mushroom waterfalls, and the outside bar was nice. The pool was clean. The shopping center across A1A was very convenient. I would rather sleep in a so called dirty room, than to have cockroaches crawling over me. The bar in the lobby was also very nice. We had a great time partying with new friends we met and they had karaoke, which was lots of fun.

Stay like a prince (condos) or like a pauper (tower section)

from brantleidy
Price was OUTRAGEOUS for the LACK OF QUALITY. Don't be surprised out of your socks...The pictures on the WEB SITE look awesome...and the lobby and pool area are just as pictured....and the Condo rooms on the Ocean side are newly remodeled...but the TOWER BUILDING is UNBELIEVABLE!! The building needs RAISED. Old furishings, carpet, interior hall looks like a basement (with falling plaster and patch jobs!!) Shower curtain rod fell for me, too, especially when the water in the tub blasted out everywhere and our bathroom was flooded. Refrigerator ran but cooled only to about 60 degrees. Rooms felt dirty....don't go barefoot!!

Parking garage was nicer than room!...At least we always had a parking space but probably people avoided staying in their room and that is why the cars weren't there!! (We went on a special event week so it was busy.) It seemed like our floor was not used very often accept when special events filled up Daytona. Very disappointed and will not return especially when paying $180 plus!!

The only nice thing about this hotel beside the pool and lobby was the access to the beach.....And...let me tell you, I was out on the beach as much as possible so I wouldn't have to stay in the room!!

Please....if you MUST stay at this the big bucks for the CONDOS....Please don't live in poverty (while paying big bucks) for the TOWER BUILDING. (Now we know why the CONDOS for SALE sign is on the top of the Tower Building....They will never take that sign down because who would buy any rooms in the Tower building?)

Top Local Tips for Daytona Beach

Sometimes you save by simply walking in! Try doing a walk-in if possible. We went back and got a great room for only $40/night +taxes and it had a kitchen, two beds, t.v and couch! Look for values, they don't just jump out at you!

good and the bad We ate at Adobe Gilla's - skip it - overpriced below average food. We also ate ate The RiverGrille- nice location and views- good food. Aunt Catfish's was pretty good too.

Quality of Staff Check up on staff members; if there is a problem with charges between Travelocity and the policy of your hotel --- just don't insist you are correct, call Travelocity and get it cleared in front of customer; just don't take customer's money with a like-it or lump-it attitude.
