Very nice resort
from 4JinOhioWonderful resort
from OttawaDianneThe management said it was due to the fact that the condo section was pretty vacant . They said to let the water run and that should fix the problem. We let it run 3 hours and just got it about 96.
So when we complained again then they said it was because
the water heater had been moved to the hotel side - but then they adjusted it and were excited that it got up to 100 degrees. Barely enough to wash in.
But the staff tried their best under the circumstances.
I would definitely stay there again and hope they rectify the problem. It is clean, safe, and in a great location.
High marks on accommodations
from emalemiWe couldn't have asked for more on the accommodations. Our condo included two (2) queen beds, spacious bathroom, table and chairs for dining, and a patio door leading to a small balcony. Everything we could possibly need and sparkling clean. Having a fully stocked kitchenette was great also, with sink, micro, stove and fridge. Very convenient.
The view from our balcony was beautiful. The ocean is almost right below you it seems, and the beach in each direction goes on for miles so it's a great spot for long walks. Day and night we often left our balcony door open so we could enjoy listening to the sounds of the waves. The full moon on the water right outside your window is beautiful. Very nice.
The property also had two (2) large outdoor pools, which were kept very clean. Towels were also provided poolside, so no need to bring your own. The area had plenty of lounge chairs or tables with chairs to choose from, including umbrellas for shade. We never had to worry about the "saving" game, and quite often had the one pool all to ourselves. Maybe getting there around 9 is considered early? Or we just got lucky.
The pools were separated by a nice tiki bar which seemed to open up around lunch time everyday. Nice spot for a cold drink and to purchase a snack. Next to one of the pools on one side was an additional shallow pool with the cascading mushrooms to stand under. Fun spot for small children to get wet, and my husband and I enjoyed this a couple of times ourselves. On the opposite side, was a very small minature golf area. This was offered free to guests and clubs were checked out at the front desk.
An indoor pool along with two (2) jacuzzis was available. A very small fitness center, but most of the aerobic machines were in need of repair. Plenty of other exercise options were available, however; runs on the beach, ocean swimming, laps in the pools, etc.
The hotel was located on the ocean side of A1A. Across the street within walking distance were supermarkets, drug stores, a department store, and several souvenir/beachwear stores. Another plus was the ability to walk to several restaurants and bars, which we took advantage of often.
Overall, the resort is beautiful , or at least those portions of the resort where renovations are completed. Most of the "cons" are associated with those parts of the resort that are not yet finished. For example, during our stay the elevators in our wing of the building weren't always functioning properly, leading to long waits for a trip to the eigth floor. Several times we gave up and walked the stairs. Some of this problem was corrected by the time we left the resort, so it appears to be a temporary issue.
If you are a late sleeper, the construction noise (drilling) starts pretty early for vacationers (8:00 a.m.- ish), but the construction seems to be in its final stages.
The only other negative we can comment on was the arrival of a busload of a couple of hundred teens in a church group mid-week for a conference. Things became a little more hectic around the resort (and the pool) after that, but the perception of overcrowdedness may have been related to the wonderful peace and quiet we'd had prior to their arrival. It was still pretty quiet around the pool during the morning and early afternoon hours.
We would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a (relatively) quiet week at the shore in a clean, convenient, and pleasant location.
WOW - what a great place ON THE BEACH
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe room has all the facilities - a kitchen for essentials you need - coffee maker, fridge and stove for light meals. The bed was very comfortable - just like home, the couch and chair were convenient for TV (can't miss the sports) and most important the outdoor area provided comfortable lounges. The large pool was clean and inviting. We spent most of the time relaxing and enjoying the beach and ocean.
And to round it all off, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the service was exceptional.
So, if you are looking for a wonderful beach location where there is unspoiled sandy beach, convenient affordable accommodation and excellent service - this is it.
We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to a return visit.
It was ok for the price
from A TripAdvisor MemberPick your room carefully
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe upsides for the place are the facts that the pool areas (the parts that are open) are nice and the beach in that area is more quiet than Daytona proper.
7:00 a.m. jack hammer wake up call
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe pools were very nice, two hot tubs(one did not work), the restaurant was never open while we were there. The tiki bar was priced very high(6 bucks a drink.) It is a good location on the beach. They had a sign that said"hotdogs 1.50,chips1.00,soft drinks 1.00, or try our "special" hot dog, chips and drink for 3.50". Sums up the place.
This place has potential, but it will not be acheived under current management. We paid 160 a night, the manager gave us 15 a night off for the noise problem. He would not give us the rate of 119 advertised for AAA customers. Deeply dissapointing. I would not stay here again until the remodeling is completed and even then, for 160 a night, I expect room service and a restaurant on site. You can do much better in Daytona for this price. Heck, you can do better for half this price in Daytona.
The Very Best!!!
from guinnessgirl28No bugs about it
from BreezyLadyStay like a prince (condos) or like a pauper (tower section)
from brantleidyParking garage was nicer than room!...At least we always had a parking space but probably people avoided staying in their room and that is why the cars weren't there!! (We went on a special event week so it was busy.) It seemed like our floor was not used very often accept when special events filled up Daytona. Very disappointed and will not return especially when paying $180 plus!!
The only nice thing about this hotel beside the pool and lobby was the access to the beach.....And...let me tell you, I was out on the beach as much as possible so I wouldn't have to stay in the room!!
Please....if you MUST stay at this location.....pay the big bucks for the CONDOS....Please don't live in poverty (while paying big bucks) for the TOWER BUILDING. (Now we know why the CONDOS for SALE sign is on the top of the Tower Building....They will never take that sign down because who would buy any rooms in the Tower building?)
Top Local Tips for Daytona Beach
Sometimes you save by simply walking in! Try doing a walk-in if possible. We went back and got a great room for only $40/night +taxes and it had a kitchen, two beds, t.v and couch! Look for values, they don't just jump out at you!
good and the bad We ate at Adobe Gilla's - skip it - overpriced below average food. We also ate ate The RiverGrille- nice location and views- good food. Aunt Catfish's was pretty good too.
Quality of Staff Check up on staff members; if there is a problem with charges between Travelocity and the policy of your hotel --- just don't insist you are correct, call Travelocity and get it cleared in front of customer; just don't take customer's money with a like-it or lump-it attitude.
