t stay here if I were you!!!!

From the minute we walked into the hotel the front desk staff was rude and said we would have to wait to check in. Now I know as being a former guest service representitive that rooms may not be ready when you come to check in, so you may have to wait. Not more then 2 min. later all of a sudden our room was ready to be checked into. We then start to give all of our credit card info, and the front desk person starts charging the wrong amounts on the wrong cards. We ended up all getting charged more then we were supposed to, and two credit cards were billed twice. After all of that drama, we go up to our room and the maids cart is blocking the door. So we say hello to find out if the maid is in there and she was gone and the room was half dirty. We then call down to the front desk to tell them they just checked us into a dirty room, and all they told us is that they would send the maid up and that's it. Finally 20 min. go by and the maid finally comes up just to say the room wasn't ready, like we checked ourselves into the room. Also during our stay our iron wasn't working and when we called to get a new one no one ever ended bringing it up. We then called down to find out where it was and we were told they had no more, but yet they didn't tell us that before. The whole stay there was no ice in the ice machine and it kept beeping all the time. After all of the experiences we went through we then tried to speak with the manager and didn't even get an apology for all that we had to deal with. All I know is the hotel that I worked at for 2 1/2 was all about customer satisfaction, and if the customer wasn't happy we went out of our way to make them happy. The only good part of the stay was Robert (night auditer) that checked us out, he is a very pleasent person and we had no problems with him at all! Granted me and my two friends were there for spring break, but are not your typical spring breakers that just trash the hotel room. We were treated like total crap the whole time, even though when we checked out the room was spotless. It was so clean the night auditer said we must have stayed somewhere else, and he even commented how good the room smelled. Sorry to say but after this experience, I would never stay at this hotel again and they really have some issues that need to be fixed!!!

Right on the Beach

We stayed here for 1 week in the beginning of March 2005 and we were a little worried because we booked it based on what we saw online. But when we got there, it was a 9 story highrise that was indeed, right on the beach, as promised. The front desk staff were not very friendly or helpful; they seemed to know little to no information about the area, where to eat, etc. Our roof leaked on the first night and water soaked the floor and the windows. When we complained, the boy at the first desk did nothing. The second time we complained, he shrugged and asked what we wanted him to do about it. Our toilet broke as well (on a different day)l, and the same boy did- surprise- nothing. Complained a second time and finally a girl called maintance to come up. It is a little difficult to get around Daytona Beach without a car, it seems. We got the hang of the trolley ($1 per way, stops every hour) and finally the bus (also $1), but definately try to rent a car. This hotel is a little out of the way, our taxi driver told us. About $15 from airport to the hotel.
The beach was about 20 steps from the back door of the hotel and we spent every day laying out. The cars driving on the beach was fun at first, but if you have small children, Daytona Beach is not for you! Cars have the right of way on the beach, as the Beach Patrol kept reminding us all, including a family who's little girls almost got hit several times. The pool is beautiful and heated, with tons of lounge chairs around. There's also a 'shaded from the wind' area on the second floor, which is nice to sit at if you are fed up with the constant wind. Hotel is very clean and our room was big, with king bed, desk, table & chairs. Take advantage of the free breakfast in the lobby and make sure you ask for a room with a view! Ours was beautiful. There are 4 rooms per floor that actually face the beach, and not the constuction to the right or the motel to the left. Also rent a quad on the beach, it's a lot of fun to zoom up and down; you get to see a lot of the beach.

We had planned a 10-day stay at the Oceanside Inn, but when we got there on Dec. 24, 2004, the weather was terrible (45 degrees, wind, rain). With 3 kids and a non-heated outdoor pool, our choice of activities was very limited.

Also, the full hot breakfast advertised had become a continental breakfast upon our arrival. Add to this that this breakfast was extremely limited : ONE muffin on the tray, over-iced danishes and toast, coffee and a choice of orange or apple beverage (not juice) with a strong aftertaste of cleaning product. Mind you, it was still free, but we decided any ways to have breakfast elsewhere.

Also, they charge you for the in-room safe, whether you use it or not. Ours was broken upon arrival and could not be fixed, but they didn't argue about deducting the fee from our bill.

Finally, the fan in the bathroom didn't work. With 5 people in a room, it's almost an essential commodity!

With poor weather conditions forecast for another 3 days, we decided to change hotel the first night. The staff didn't argue and refunded our money without any hassle. A plus for them considered all the horror stories read for some other hotels.

Also, the staff was very friendly, although some East-European employees have difficulty understanding English.

We stayed in December and this was more than we expected. The room was very clean, the staff was friendly, and the location and views from the room were awesome !!! We would come back for sure. This is a place you will want to come back to, it's not like some of the other dirty places. This is a place you will feel very safe with your kids, and what an awesome pool area !!!

Oceanside Inn

Stayed in this hotel 11/6 to 11/8 on a Hotwire reservation at $ 133. Had a room on 7th floor, clean, 2 double beds, 2 chairs and a great view of the ocean and the city.
Pool area very nice, not crowded, ample chairs. Sundeck on 2nd floor had a nice grassy area and chairs. It was a very relaxing stay.
Only one elevator was working, which meant long waits. Parking was very convenient and free. Motels on either side were damaged and or in process of being demolished
Breakfast was ok, with eggs, hashbrown poatatoes, Grits and Phila scrapple as the
main items, with coffee and juice. Only apple juice one day and no juice second day.
Toast was $ 1 for 2pcs, if you wanted.
There were ice machines on floors 3, 5, 7 as well as coke machines. I understand they have efficiencies, which I would try next time. It was a good value and a nice stay.

A great place to stay

I stayed 4 nights at the Oceanside Inn, Daytona Beach, FL and i had a great time there.

When i checked in, they offered me to have an oceanfront view for a small supplement, which was really worth it. They even let me changed my room after 2 days when a bigger one was available, at no extra cost. :)

They gave me the key to visit 3 rooms before i choose which i greatly appreciated cause i'm really picky towards hotel rooms, specially when i spend 4 nights in it.

The place was very clean and smelled good, the hallways as much as the rooms.
The access to the beach is really convenient as you can come and go all day long considering it is only a few steps away from your room. The pool and deck area is very cozy and sunfull almost all the time .
Kitchenettes were also full equipped with everything you need for a long stay.

If you reserve for an oceanfront room, i HIGHLY consider asking for the corner rooms, especially the 13's on all the floor, they are almost DOUBLE sized compared to normal rooms. Simply GREAT.

There are only 2 things for which i was a bit disapointed : No balcony in rooms, and it's a part of the Daytona Beach where cars and SUVs are allowed to cruise so you don't have the same beach ambience you would get with people lying around taking sunbaths and playing volleyball.

It is definitely a must go, you would have to be really unlucky not to enjoy your stay at this hotel. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially for families and people above 35 years old.

The receptionists were unfriendly and not organized. Towels were either dirty or missing after the room was cleaned. We tried to check in early only to find we could not check into our room until after 4 P.M. When we found no towels in our room, we called in the morning to find out that we could not get any fresh towels until the maids showed up at 11 A.M.!!! Ridiculous.

Okay, what's with the negative reviews. I was there July 9th thru 16th 2004 and our place was awesome. Staff was wonderful. Room was clean and cleaned every day (except when we just asked for towel service). Location is right on the beach. You pull open the curtains on the big glass wall and BAM! what a view!! The pool is large and my wife and I loved it! Do yourslef a favor, third floor, ocean front. You'll enjoy!!

I have actually stayed in worse hotels...the staff at Oceanside Inn were very nice. Yes, the ice machine was broken on the 3rd floor but we weren't too lazy to get on the elevator, go to the 5th floor, and get ice. I didn't see any trash in the hallways and our room was clean when we got there...so it must have something to do with which lady cleaned your room...our cleaning lady was really nice and did a good job on the room. My boyfriend and I stayed there for 9 nights and didn't want to come home...If we ever go back to Daytona Beach, Oceanside Inn will receive our business once again.

Impressive Atlantic Ocean View

I was very impressed with the view from our Ocean front room. We had an oversized corner room with unique furniture and a wall of glass facing the ocean. We even opened the window to listen to the crashing waves. The room came with a fridge, sink, and a microwave, so we took advantage of the convenience. It was spacious and clean. The pool was also on the ocean front, too. The breakfast was free and the complementary parking was in a private garage. Again, I was impressed. I'll be back!

Top Local Tips for Daytona Beach

SHOPPING A lot of shopping areas to go to and a lot of fun. Volusia Mall is great and always enjoy going there and people that work there are very helpful. All the tee shiirt shops are great and a lot of fun on the board walk. Board walk I like it is funa nd things to do.

SHopping is great Did a lot of shopping at Volusia MALL in DAYTON BEACH WENT TO Belair Plaza in Ormond Beach that is real nIce plaza they have dolllar store that is huge and they HAVE Bells and that is great place to go.pLUS you have walgreens there and the grocery store and shoe store and few other places.So check it out. A lof of your tee shirt shops look in the paper for the best deal.We have the Flea Market open on Friday through Sunday.best time is to go is early before it gets hot and crowded. AVON both called ROSE'S the couple that runs it now are super and very honest and I BuY ALL AVON FROM THEM SO Check them out.

Hidden treasures When you go to flordia as a family everyone thinks the theme parks, but check out the brochures at the hotel and you might be suprised to find lots to do that the whole family will love closer to daytona and cheaper to. The marine science center in ponce inlet was very nice.
