Good not Great, but clean.

We had a nice stay at the Bermuda House. The hotel is in need of quite a bit of repairs and updates. The Hotel was clean and the staff was very nice.
It was a last minute get away and we didn't expect luxury, we could have paid $100.00 more a night for that. Over all it was a fun week. I would suggest updating the hotel quite a bit.

Bermuda House on the Fourth of July

I stayed at the Bermuda house on the Fourth of July. The hotel has a large number of children around, it is a great place for families, but as the male counterpart of a childless young couple I found it a bit annoying. The police had posted signs that say FIREWORKS NOT ALLOWED ON BEACH, but adolescent boys were playing with fireworks both on the beach and on the hotel property. It was an unsafe annoyance to most and the hotel staff really did not address the problem.

But, then again, I have little room to complain--if you don't like kids you should probably head to Miami's South Beach and forget Daytona altogeather.

It is true that the Hotel is ageing and it does show, but the HOTEL IS COMFORTABLE, CLEAN, and MODESTLY PRICED FOR AN OCEANFRONT PROPERTY. I believe that many of the complaints I have read on tripadvisor are embellished and not at all reflective of the true nature of this hotel. Simply put, Florida beachfront hotels are generally expensive--if you want an inexpensive oceanfront hotel, Bermuda House is an excellent choice.

A Thief Amongst Us

We went to Daytona to celebrate my sisters 50th birthday. We stayed at The Bermuda House. The morning after we got there, we decided to take a 30 min. walk on the beach. When we returned we discovered that someone had entered our room and STOLE $200 from my hiding place in one of the dresser drawers. I have been vacationing in Daytona for 30 yrs and have never had anything stolen before. The management (Brian) was of little help...... Not even a " I'm sorry this happen to you at our Hotel". The hotel itself was ok, but there is a THIEF amongst us. I would NOT recommend the Bermuda House as a vacation destination!!

Unfortunately, there are instances where a guest may report that something is missing from their room. Because the guest usually assumes it was a staff member, this becomes a legal issue that we cannot deal with in the same way as other complaints. We always endeavor to be helpful, we take careful notes and file detailed reports with our legal department, and we call the police to speak with the guest. I see so many doors propped open by guests who are "just going out for a few minutes", it's no suprise to me that things end up missing. If everybody used all of the security devices provided and always locked their doors, we would not have this problem. Every complaint of missing property is investigated by the police, and to date no staff member at The Bermuda House had been found guilty of theft.

Just dont stay here!

Don't stay here. Just don't. Ceiling falling down in room, door hinges seized, linen ripped, balcony slowly eroding away. My god this is a one star. Elevator scarier than most Orlando roller coasters. Oh yeah. The pool did look clean!

Bermuda house good but bad

The Bermuda House. Where shall I begin. Oh yes the rates were cheap and that was good. The room was spacious and the bathrooms were clean enough. It had a kitchenette with stove, microwave, fridge and had plates etc.. Surprised. We stayed on the beach front 3rd floor. Th reception desk was friendly and efficient. They had a good size pool (not ocean front) and a jacuzzi (very small 2 person) and a good sized deck.

Now for the bad... The beds were ancient, full of lumps. The furnitue looked like it came from a fire sale. The bathtub was clean enough but the pipes squealed. We asked for non-smoking and it was smoking but somehow did not smell like smoking. The glass sliding door was very difficult to open. The carpet was worn a bit but not too bad. The jacuzzi... yikes... It was nasty. It was yellow green and it looked like a giant urinal. I would not touch it with a ten foot pole. My daughters were digusted. As I said the pool was spacious and clean though. The security door looks were useless and left unloked so this was disconcerting. The evlevator was like molases and snapped shut on the third floor (where we were and it made a sound like a gun going off. We could tell when people were getting off on our floor. The resturaunt and snack bar were closed and appeared on the state of being condemed. Did I tell you the pool was okay? :). Actually we had a great time anyway. The ocean is the ocean and if you just want a place to flop, it works. God bless kids they seem to overlook such things and the adults have the hangups.

We were there for a dance competition and most of our group stayed at the Hilton $175/night ... our price $70 so you get what you pay for... sometimes.

There is a mall across the street and Maui Nix Surf Shop, Ruby Tuesdays, Publix and thats convienent. 2.5 miles from the boardwalk. No frills but very cheap.

Bad Bad Bad

The service was great at the front desk. But the Hotel was awful, the floors were sticky and the bathtub was painted because it was so old. This place really needs a make over.

Arrived at the hotel and was upgraded to an oceanfront room on the eighth floor, so that was a nice thing for them to do. The elevator was more like a cargo elevator and VERY scary. Got to the room and it was adequate at first glance, but then we noticed we did not have a shower curtain. I called down to let them know and the lady said "oh for god's sake, I will send someone up" and then a knock at the door and the man hands me the shower curtain.... so guess what? I got to put it up myself. Then we didn't have a television remote so we had to call back down for that. OH YEAH, and the hotel is pet friendly.....BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT you can't take dogs on the beach AT ALL. That's funny,... you can drive nasty beat up cars and motorcyles down the beach and have half naked drunk people partying out on it, but small little Jack Russell is not welcome??????? Thanks Volusia County! Rethink this.
Anyway, for the price we paid $79.00 it was okay for two days.

The Bermuda SHACK

For a certified customer service specialist, this was not my ideal stay in Daytona during college spring break. This hotel is located at the end of the strip, so you're definitely missing out on the little known action. The doors were so hard to close, that someone sneaked their way into our room to steal a laptop, sidekick and wallet.

ROOM SERVICE was horrible! Did you ever think that room service workers were supposed to cuss at each other in front of the hotel guests? I know that we left a mess, but they didn't let us check out of the hotel and get our security deposits ($100 per person) until we collected towels, trash and bottles out of the room. Defeats the purpose of having ROOM SERVICE RIGHT?? AND they handed us the bag!

I'd rather stay at the Budget Inn.

Yuck..Terrible choice

Well I was terribly disappointed. I know its cheap but come on!! First no soap, shamppoo or coffee pot in my room. Had to wait till 9am to get some as the staff isn't in yet. Don't look at the ceilings...you'll be afraid they will cave in on you. Staff used guests elevators to haul trash, linens etc. It was gross to constantly ride with this. Sheets were NEVER changed for the THREE nights I spent there. I think there is a lot of misplaced poeple staying there from the hurricanes as they were lugging bags full of food to the rooms. No bar or restaurant available. You have to go next door to Best Western..Stay THERE instead!! The only nice thing was the pool which LOOKED clean. Never again. Spend a few more bucks anywhere else. !!!

I was there for a week, the last night of which was spent watching "Charlie" go overhead! August 7-14, 2004. The room was sort of lacking when I arrived - toilet didn't flush, lightbulbs out and the phone didn't work right BUT the handyman fixed every single thing in quick order! A very pleasant staff more than willing to please and make me comfortable. Great rates -- $59/night for ocean "view." Any questions I had were promptly answered by the desk clerk. Right across the street from Belair Plaza, lovely pool, free drinks next door at the LaPlaya -- can't beat it -- I'll be back! I might've gotten a "swankier" room somewhere else but I would've had to pay BIG BUCKS and I'd rather spend my money enjoying myself than on a bed to sleep in. My room was VERY clean, bed comfortable, cable TV worked great, and, as I said, you can't beat the people who work there! Those things mean a LOT.

Spring Breakers To all over spring break...I definently noticed one thing on my trip..if you are their for your college spring break and wanna be around the crowd..the desert inn is the place to be. If you are older....stay away! It is nuts!

Things to do when your too sunburned to enjoy the beach for a day! 1. Grab some bug spray and go to the sugarmill botanical gardens (located on Herbert street) Its a nice, shady garden with sugarmill ruins, and a couple of friendly cats. 2. Take a river cruise on the Manatee river boat (located next to the Inlet Harbor restaurant) The cruise is $25 for adults for a 2 hour cruise. It goes through the beautiful New Smyrna area, and was nice and relaxing. We even saw lots of dolphins, and had one swim right next to the boat for several minutes. 3. Go to the Museum Of Arts and Sciences (Located near Nova and International Speedway) Great museum, kids and adults would love it. 4. Eat at Our Deck Down Under....several times. (Located under the Dunlawton Bridge) It is by far the greatest restaurant in the area in my opinion. You can either dine in, or out on the river deck. Again, we saw lots of dolphins while we were enjoying our lunch. 5. For some night activities, go to the Ocean Deck, or the Bank and Blues night club on wednesdays for live blues
