Decent hotel

We stayed here in Dec 2003 for a conference. Overall it was a decent hotel in a good location.

Only negative I know of is the $12 activity fee which may be required.
If so, it should be included in the rate instead of just being disclosed.

I had a much more detailed review written, but the site managed to removed it as I was proofreading, so I give the site one dot. (I really don't feel like retyping everything.)

Awful!! Don't bother. We ignored the negative reviews and nearly ruined our vacation. We had free rooms and left after 2 hours, scrambling to find a room over Thanksgiving. The employees as kind as they were , could in no way makeup for this hotel. There were things too disgusting to mention. Will never trust a Hilton again unless it is one we know.
We absolutely cannot believe Hilton leaves this hotel open with the way it is. This hotel needs major work and they should throw out all bedding, linens, carpet and curtains. It is so overdeodorized it makes your stomach turn.

The roon smelled like a urinal, the tv cabinet was broken and there was a long black hair still in the tub from the last guest! I can't believe I was in a Hilton hotel. The place was old looking and very run down. I stayed one night and left.

Not at all what I expect from Hilton. The rooms were AWFUL. They are small, noisy, dirty and cramped. In addition, the first room we were put in was next to the Fitness Center. Each morning the noise and the shaking of the room would wake us up. We finally asked to be moved. The new room was even worse. This room had mold growing on the closet doors and the room smelled TERRIBLE. Also, the toilet didn't work. We had to call maintenance about 6 times. By the time we left, it STILL wasn't working. Needless to say, we spent as much time as possible away from the room. Luckily, the beach was awesome. The restaurants were also great. The front desk did compensate us for our troubles by removing the resort fees and parking fees from our bill. But this was by far the WORST Hilton I have ever been to.

I read these other reviews and I can't figure it out! We spent a week
here, and yes, the rooms are not what you would expect from the normal
Hilton. In size only though. They were clean, staff was VERY nice, the
beach chairs and umbrellas were set up for you each morning. The best
thing was the "fun factory". If you have kids with you, this was great.
It was a room full of beach stuff for everyone. Beach chairs, all kinds
of sand toys, boogie boards, frisbees, crafts for kids...all at NO
cost. Just borrow them and bring them back before you leave the hotel.
My daughter loved the lady that runs it, she went to see her every
morning!
I have to wonder who is writing these reviews for all these hotels. The one we were originally supposed to stay at was rated #1 on here. What a joke!! They were nice enough to let us cancel our reservation upon arrival though. It was awful and rated #1, just don't get it. Hilton was way better.

One to avoid!

As a very frequent Hilton guest, I was fairly appalled at this hotel. I requested and was given a partial ocean view room. Unfortunately, this looked down on about 10 air conditioner generators that made standing on the balcony like standing next to a freight train. Fortunately, the front desk staff politely accommodated me and moved me.

The maids had put the "do not disturb" sign under the coffee mugs in my room so that I did not notice it and had to deal with housekeeping knocking on my door all morning long.

I went down to the beach and was given 4 small hand towels because they did not appear to have beach towels. After my room switch, the front desk had not notated on my paperwork that I had paid the resort fee ($10!!) which resulted in a 20 minute wait while they called to make sure that I had paid so that I could have said towels and a chair. The guy handing out the chairs was surly and unbathed. They had run out of lounge chairs which required another 15 minutes of waiting. I was also told that a cart would drive around the beach in front of the Hilton taking lunch & drink orders, but they never came during the 2 hours I was out there. Starved, I later returned to my room to order room service and they never answered the phone. I finally left a message asking room service to call me back and they did not. Valet was friendly, though.

This hotel was horrible for the money. We paied for as suite and ended up with a room more like a hour by hour motel. The room was tiny and bathroom was even worse. The food as over priced just like the rooms, and the balcony veiw was of a parking lot that you have to pay 5.00 a day to park in. The beach front was nice but the town was run down and for a teenager very boring. We planned ona 4 night stay and left after 2. I wouldn't recommend the hotel or even clearwater to anyone..

Turned Out OK

On arrival the first impression is very good. Excellent valet services and information to check in. I found the people made the difference.
They were all very helpful and accommodating. The only disappointment was the room. It was very, very average. The view of the gulf was ok, but not to die for. Beach access is fantastic and there was always something going on. A very busy area with shops and entertainment very close by. In the end my wife and in-laws said they enjoyed themselves very much so I guess that makes it worth it. The restaurant has very good service and above average quality, the selection from the buffet was extensive and very much worth the price. The ladies loved it. If you can afford it get one of the direct ocean full view suites. There are only a few so don't think you can just up grade if you so choose there must be a reservation probably.

Wonderful Stay at Hilton CWB

We spent a week at the Hilton Clearwater Beach July 13 to 20th. It was great! The bathroom is way too small but other than that everything was good. The room was clean, pool was great, the poolside bar drinks were over priced but the food was a good value. Our room had a good view of the ocean, beach, marina and the south side of the city of CWB. The staff could use some lessons on customer service. Sometimes they were more like teenagers who "had to be there" than courteous, friendly, tripping over themselves to be helpful. I have stayed at various hotels on Clearwater Beach over the past 35 years and for my money the Hilton is the best due to its size, location, beachfront area and pools. It was not good that I had to pay $5 per day to self park but there was always a space. I think the hotel should include that fee in the basic room rate or make it known before arrival.

Marginal at best

Don't waste your money. Hotel and service are marginal at best, not really clean and just plain worn out. Watch out, on top of stated fees we were charged for parking and an $8 per day "resort fee" for use of pool towels and a long list of other items we didn't use such as fax machines, etc. The only plus was the location on the beach.

Top Local Tips for Clearwater

Great food and service Island Way rest and Shell's rest are great for service and food. Island way is a little pricey but well worth evening. Shell's is great seafood and reasonable price. View of both is fabulous.

take the trolley We took the trolley and rode the entire trip around. Our driver gave us a great tour with all kinds of stories and tips. Took about an hour, but he was great! Easy way to see the area and great tips on food and activities! Was especially nice for my husband since if he was driving, he would not have seen any of the sights. Can't remember what the cost is, but it must not have been too expensive. (I would have remembered that!)
