Top Local Tips for Clearwater
CWB has certainly changed The beach at CWBis still there, but everything else has changed. A lot of new high rises have put a huge dent in the friendly town this once was. The small mom and pop motels are all either gone or in total dis-repair. The beach town eateries are being replaced with uptown resturants. And there is construction everywhere. At least two positives; the fountain at the circle is gone, replaced with grass, and Frechys is still there serving good quality food with great atmosphere.
There are differences in the beaches Clearwater Beach is THE place if you like to go to the beach at night to see arts, crafts and street entertainment with a nice boardwalk. After 6 PM the meters are not enforced if you park across the street near the charter boats. During the day it is crowded. A bit farther South is Indian Rocks beach. It is quiet and changed little over the last 45 years that I remember. This is the place if you want more peace and quiet. Farther South, Treasure Island and St. Pete beach have maintained RESORT like look. The rest of the beaches are more or less residential only. Be careful where you park...many restrictions.
