I agree with Erin, do not believe the photos.

I prepared to get dressed for my conference, there was no hot water available, the iron was not broken, and the doors to the closets were hanging off the hinges. On the air conditioner, I noticed a line of ants crawling along the unit. Saturday, as I prepared to go to bed, the linen on the bed was soiled. I requested new linen, changed my bed, only to wake up Sunday morning with a bed full of ants. After attending the conference, I returned to the room to find the same soiled linen that I removed from the bed on Saturday. I requested to speak with a manager, and was informed that the manager would not be available until Monday. I notified the front desk person about the ants in the room and he provided me with another room only to wake up the next day to a water bug. The story goes on and on...
One very bad experience!

This is one hotel to add to your avoid list. It is nothing like the photos online. The rooms are dirty, the service is very poor and if you complain to the manager, he will threaten to hall your daughter (8 years old) off in handcuffs. Take my advice, avoid this place.

Please - Online information about this hotel is misleading. If you stay at the Boca Raton Hotel / Suites - expect nothing like what you see online. It's not "near" the beach. Service is poor. The facilites are not kept clean. Please check online maps and other recent reviews.

The hotel was clean and modern. Location was a walk to the beach and near necessity shopping (pharmacy, supermarket). There was a lot of noise during the night from other guests. Managment did take care of it promptly. I would go back.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Boca Raton Plaza Hotel & Suite

This place is a joke

from A TripAdvisor Member
Ok, this is my first review posting anywhere of a hotel ever. I have stayed at many hotels over the years, and usually I get what I paid for. Not here. I felt obligated to warn others after staying at this place. It looked fairly nice judging from the pictures on various travel websites, and the price was reasonable so I thought that my girlfriend and I would give it a shot for our first night of a week trip to FL. Bad idea. We caught a late flight into West Palm so we were arriving pretty late to the hotel. Just to be safe I called to confirm our room while we were driving to the hotel.

Good thing I did, they were just about to give it away to someone else, without even bothering to call me and ask if I was still on the way. I dont' know if that is standard procedure in a lot of hotels, but it seems pretty shady to me, especially since they were going to charge me for the night, and the person interested in my room. Anyways, we got there and the front desk clerk was pretty rude, but I didn't think anything of it being pretty late (after midnight). We got to our room and it was not the type I had requested. Calling the front desk to inform them of this did not help. The grounds themselves looked nothing like the pictures I had seen online, nor did the room. The bathroom was dirty, the walls cracking, etc. The room itself was nothing special, with no view to speak of either. Beds were okay. Upon checkout the next morning again I mentioned that the room we had stayed in was not what I had requested, and the sleezy looking older man and two girls who barely spoke English didn't even understand what I was saying, so I gave up rather than waste my time with a language barrier.

All in all, I would say that we could have done better at a Super 8, at about half the price. I paid $130 for one night in a trashy room that wasn't even what I requested in the first place. Maybe we were just unlucky and ended up in the worst room in the hotel. But that doesn't change the fact that the staff was either rude or incompetent. As for the hotel itself, I have NO IDEA where various travel website got their pictures from, but I would say it is an example of false advertising at it's best. I walked all over the grounds, and after going over the grounds pictures again when we got back, I have no idea where they shot some of them. Obviously not at this hotel. Do yourself a favor, avoid this one unless you are looking for a trashy overpriced alternative to a Motel 6.

Bates Motel Revisited

from MrsMaytag
Scary old smelly motel which reminded me of the ole Bates Motel. The room reeked from mildew, the bed covers were torn, the walls thin, and the lobby was filled with overnight drunks from a weekend wedding party. Avoid this dump if you can!

Very pleasant stay

My husband and I live in Kansas City and wanted a few days of sunshine and warmth in the middle of winter. We decided to go to Boca Raton and stayed at the Boca Raton Plaza Hotel.

When we arrived at the airport (West Palm Beach), the driver for the hotal picked us up and I would say that for such a beautiful hotel, the KIA van was okay, a bigger van would have been better. The driver was enjoyable, obviously knew his way around and helped us into the hotel.

This hotel is very beautiful. When walking into the front doors, a fountain is spraying and the foyer was very clean and inviting. The front desk worker's were very pleasant and friendly.

We were given a suite on the second floor which was very clean with two televisions. This was fun for us as my husband likes sports all the time and I don't. The hotel maids did a great job. I wanted to ironing board up at all times and they left it out for me. I needed more towels and they made sure we had enough for each day. I was impressed at the cleanliness. Also, the hot water came up very quickly! I liked that.

The hotel restaurant had very good food, I had breakfast there twice and lunch twice. The waitresses were very good, even when I wanted a bigger cup for my coffee. They were smiling, happy people and I liked that.

We saw a baseball game, went to a few restaurants, and drove to a wonderful flea market and had a great time. The hotel driver drove us back to airport in a timely fashion. I would stay at the Boca Raton Plaza again and again. I would recommend it to everyone!

Great Value...Fine Stay!

from A TripAdvisor Member
During our recent two-month October-November journey we stayed at the Boca Raton Plaza for two nights. We found the Manager and his wife, working at the front desk, to be helpful at all times. Their day desk girl gave us great advice and directions to the country's largest "Circus" flea market as well as info on nearby eateries. Our Majesty Palm Room was exactly as described. It was spacious, with two large beds, very clean and unlike the Palm room has an entry way counter set apart for the microwave and frig. While the pool is not as spacious as the web site photo's wide angle picture the pool and its nearby spa are welcome amenities for such a budget priced property whose rooms start at LESS than $60.

Uncertain why some spend time defining hotel vs. motel. In any case Boca Raton Plaza is certainly a multiple floor hotel while traditional motels are defined by the direct car/parking access they provide just outside each room. Those who say 'you get what you pay for' are missing many excellent travel lodging 'bargains.' Example: Our recent stay at the Cromwell Suites, Toronto - One bedroom suite with dining room and full kitchen. Awesome bargain at $80.

We give two thumbs up to the Boca Raton Plaza Hotel for its delivery of a high level of amenities for a truly bargain price.

Better then I thought

Great value. The room was very big and Clean. You can walk to some places, but you really need a car there. No problems with anyone who worked there. The pool was nice. The bar was great, howard the bartender was a good guy. I will stay thier again if I go back to Boca. If you can avoid a few seedy people who stay there, then this is the best place to stay in Boca!!!

Very nice, very clean, and would return

My husband purchased two Executive Cards ($50 each with other discounts included) for stays in this hotel and intended to give them to visiting guests. However, the year was coming to an end and we still had them and decided to use one. We upgraded to a suite for no charge and the room was great. Very, very clean and plenty of space. Two tv sets, small fridge, coffee pot, sink and microwave in a cute little alcove. Full couch, table and chairs as well. The staff was helpful, and after reading the other reviews, we got up early enough to get a beach pass (and actually returned it by 10 am so someone else could use it--check out is at 11). The hotel was convenient to the beach, as well as many stores and places to eat. We live 40 minutes away, but it was still a nice enjoyable night out of the house.

My friend & I took a long weekend to FL & reserved this hotel. Staff was not very helpful, nor did they go out of their way to be even remotely friendly. The room was "so-so" nothing to like, or hate. I did like that it was clean! The restaurant was great! Food was so delicious, as well as the drinks. Great bartender also! Location was okay, although I have never stayed anywhere but A1A, and I know that I will never not stay on A1A again. This hotel is pretty good for the money- just don't expect any special treatment, or average treatment for that matter. If you're looking for a cheaper hotel with a clean room then this your place. If it's service your after then go elsewhere.

The Prestegeous Plaza

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Boca Raton Plaza located in sunny Boca Raton, Florida offered many ammentities of a luxurious hotel chain such as Hilton, or Raddison. I have traveled to many places throughout the United States and stayed at some of the best there is, and this hotel offered many of the same things the major hotel chains have to offer. The lobby was stunning for such a hotel, and the pool had its own TIKI bar, try to find one of those at Hilton. The hotel staff was very friendly and answered to your every need. The value is tremendous for such a nice hotel. The hotel's own restaurant offers great cuisine in a delightful atmosphere, with a very friendly staff. I will certainly remember this hotel next time i travel to Florida. S. Mathews

Mixed Review

from A TripAdvisor Member
Thought I would share our experience as we just returned from the Boca Raton Plaza Hotel. We reserved this room through Priceline. As someone who always sees the good and the bad, we have a mixed review. The major dissatisfaction is with Priceline, as this place is a motel not a hotel and is definitely not a 3 star place as others we have stayed in through Priceline, such as Hyatt Hotels or Marriott. The pluses were that we saved about $40 dollars a night, which is good as we stayed 6 nights. While TripAdvisor reported others who had problems with the motel's cleanliness, we did not. The room was spacious with a mini fridge and a microwave, which is good for storing snacks. We had one motel clerk who recommeded a great family oriented Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Now, the negatives. There was a motel clerk (woman) who had one of the rudest personalities I have ever witnessed in customer service. We asked for restaurant recommendations in the areas at check in and were told she wouldn't give us any, as the motel had a restaurant and why didn't we eat there! On the second day, we discovered that the motel had limited beach passes covering parking fees ($18 day). When asked if we could get one, she laughed in our face (it was 10:30 a.m.) and said we needed to wake up much earlier than that. During our 6 night stay, we never received one pass. We complained about her to the management who just shrugged their shoulders. One day the elevator didn't work and we had to use a scary service elevator where the license had expired over 2 years ago.
Another day, the telephone didn't work. Luckily we had a cell phone or our family in the area would not have been able to reach us. Also, this motel had doors that opened directly on the street, which you would not expect in a 3 star rating. If my husband had not been with me, I would contacted Priceline immediately, as safety is a concern.

The lesson learned to us is that although we have used Priceline many times over the last 5-6 years and had very happy experiences, you can get burned, as we did here.

never again

My husband and I booked 3 nights at the Boca Raton Plaza Hotel and Suites, we left after the first night. Our bathroom had pubic hair all over the floor and tub. There was garbage under our bed, dirty tissues and such. The bedspread was filthy and there was something appearing like snot on the pillow case. We didn't sleep well to say the very least. When we spoke to the manager early Sunday morning to check out early, she didn't ask what was wrong it wasn't her problem because we hadn't booked through the hotel.
