t pass this hotel up!!!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Traveled to DC with my husband and three children in April 2004. I had researched the Homewood Suites before we reserved it. We were NOT disappointed! The 'rooms' have a bedroom/bathroom/kitchen-living area with doors between each. It also includes a full sized refridgerator, a 2 burner stove, a dishwasher and tablewear and an eating area. The adults could stay up and watch a movie while the three kids slept (in the 2 double beds). There is also a foldout couch in the living area. Breakfast included real food (cereal/eggs/bacon/juices) and the Manager's Reception (Mon. through Thursday) was dinner on those nights. The hotel was in a safe area and not too far from the Metro. We felt safe walking with a 14, 11 and 9 year old. The staff was responsive to all requests. My only complaint was the laundry dryer (took way too long). I suggest the Homewood to any and all!

Excellent value

We stayed at the Homeward suites as part of an East coast tour. We are a family of five, kids aged 20, 18 & 15 (a reasonably decerning audience.) We were staying in a variety of hotels and the Homeward suites was the cheapest. We found them excellent value for money. The breakfast and the managers buffet (adequate with no frills) meant thet we only had to fund lunch on top of what was an already very good rate. This was the cheapest part of our tour, but the rooms were very good - clean and well layed out and the service second to none.

The location was also good. We managed to walk everywhere from the hotel - Capitol Hill to the Lincoln Memorial, with reasonable ease. We didn't walk out past 9pm as we were still jet lagged, so I don't know what the streets are like at night.

In all a very good stay and unless I was gong to pay alot more and stay in somewhere like the Willard, I would definately use these again and also look for the chain in other locations.

Homewood Suites great hotel

We stayed here 2 nights Aug.25-26. Hotel was very clean, large suite room with couch . Breakfast was good. Afternoon meal 5-7 was good (M-Th.only). Bit out of way from Metro system. Walk was about 3 blocks to metro. Parking was bit expensive at $22.40 with tax. Hotel was bit hard to find with turnarounds in DC.

All in all, great, would definitely stay at Homewood Suites again. We had never stayed at such properties, good rate $139.

Really enjoyed DC thou, great sites to see.

Amenities of home. Good value.

Stay was from August 22nd for four nights. The room met all expectations. Refrigerator, microwave, two TVs, Fox News, and complimentary internet access which we took full advantage of. Full breakfast. Very comfortable stay. Friendly staff. It was a distance to the Metro station, but manageable. Would definitely stay here again.

Thomas Circle Homewood a keeper!

from runfar82
We stayed at this wonderful hotel two nights June 23 & 24. The room was clean, beautiful and big. We enjoyed a light dinner and cocktails each evening. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call in our room from the front desk, to make sure that we were comfortable.

I do have to say that the directions for evening icecream headed us in the wrong direction. We were out after dark. Not reccommended in this area to be tourists wandering after dark.

The staff allowed us to keep out car parked in their garage the entire day after check out, so that we could still sight-see in this wonderful city. Of course, this was at a fee. They did not seem to be in a hurry for us to park elsewhere.

I would reccommend the Thomas Circle Homewood Suite to other travelers.

comfort for the right price

Spent Sat. & Sun. the 17-19th at the Homewood Suites at Thomas Circle. They are off an access road and have a nice entrance off street to park your car as you check in. We noticed many hotels are right on main busy roads with little, if any, parking out front. If you like doormen and bellhops and all the stuffiness- this is not for you. The HS's supplied plenty of luggage carts and we took up our bags and coolers ourselves- something we prefer anyways.

Parking is 20.00/day (their web site said 26.00) plus tax- we decided to use the valet parking as we have a new car and the cars are tucked safely away behind locked doors. We saw only one valet working at a time- so do plan some time to get your car out. It is in/out parking so you can take your car out again if you would like.

I would like to mention that we asked a taxi how much to take us to the mall- and he told us it was considered 3 zones (5 dollars a zone) plus more $ per person- so not really sure how much he would have charged us all together- we had heard that the taxi's charge by zone- hard to believe it was 3 zones just down 14th street! We walked- it is only a ten minute walk (about a mile)- but were tired on the way back after walking all around the mall-and we decided next visit we would stay at a hotel on the metro line. I believe there is a bus that runs up 14th street- admit I do not know much about that bus line.

There is a lot across the circle next to the Holiday Inn that has weekend parking for 10.00 a day- outside but does have a fence around.

Talking about the Holiday Inn- we had a superb meal at the Filibusters Bar and Grill- highly recommend this restaurant!!

We stayed in a double/double room with our kids.
The seperate rooms were great. I will have to say though- we could hear our neighbors right through the wall as we sat in the living area of our room.
It would be nice as well if the bathroom was not attached inside the bedroom- if someone is sleeping in the bedroom- you have to open the clicking doors seperating the living area from the bedroom and walk through the dark sleeping area to get to the bathroom. The double pull out sofa was not the most comfortable- ok for kids- the average mattress was not for an adult's spine.
The beds were fine though and the pillows were great- quite an assortment-some were feather.

One pet peeve- many hotels are now using double sheets on the beds (one under and one over the blanket) so you do not have to touch the blankets (that are not washed but a few times a year)-and the top sheet was not included in the room- but I have a feeling if I had wanted more sheets they would have been brought right up. It would be nice also to have a room safe- maybe one big enough to hold a lap top (hinting).

The staff was very helpful and accomodating. I even noticed the hotel manager helping out in the breakfast room clearing used plates! Kudos to the breakfast staff- they work very hard!! The front desk staff was very laid back- very friendly, cheerful and good humored! We got to the hotel early- they found us a room- no problem- and they would have held our bags, no fee, for us if we had had to wait for a room.

The plusses of the room are the kitchen (toaster, coffee maker etc), two tv's (one had a VCR- we brought a video for one tired night), the internet access (which we did use- bring your cable), the hot breakfast-eggs, hashbrowns, bacon/sausage, oatmeal, (they supply trays too if you would rather eat in your room) and the recliner (wonderful to be able to elevate those tired legs!).
We brought a case of bottled water- glad we did as the water in the room did not taste very good- and we were able to take cold water bottles, chilled in the fridge, with us as we walked around.

We enjoyed our stay at the Homewood Suites- I would recommend the hotel- it was so much better than just a regular room for the same price as this suite with a kitchen, breakfast and internet access!

We spent a week at the Homewwod Suites in early July - including the 4th. The hotel rooms are very nice, comfortable, and spacious. Since it is probably Washington DC's most crowded season, the free breakfast buffet was a bit chaotic - so we would sneek down and take our food back to our room. Staff were helpful and friendly. Laundry facility on site was nice (and busy with all of the families staying there). Only real complaint is that the hotel is a bit removed from restaurants, stores, and the Metro. It is a bit of a hike to these places, but if you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk there really is no problem. Overall, a great value and nice place for a couple or family to set up camp while in Washington DC.

What a Treat!

We can't say enough about the wonderful service and attention to detail that this hotel shows its clientele. We enjoyed a 5 night stay recently and were impressed with the quality of the complimentary hot breakfast and the manager's evening reception that takes place Mon-Thurs. We had a problem with a noisy air conditoner and the staff went out of their way to correct the problem and make sure that we were satisfied. The wonderful amenities and great location make the Thomas Circle Homewood Suites the best deal in downtown D.C.!!

Keep Up The Good Work!!!

from trainingnan
Hotel was fabulous! When I arrived at the hotel, my room was 85 degrees. Earlier in the day, there was a problem with the air conditioning system. I flagged down someone from housekeeping, and she immediately had someone from maintenance in my room checking out my air conditioning system. The maintenance man was very professional and called the front desk asking for me to be moved to a new room. Within minutes, I was settled into a new (cool) room! Service at this hotel was OUTSTANDING. The breakfast was excellent, but I didn't get a chance to enjoy the manager's reception. Would stay at this hotel again! As a matter of fact, I'm traveling to Orlando next month, and my first call was to the Homewood Suites. Keep up the good work--finding an excellent hotel chain/brand is very hard to do!

PERFECT for family

from Boeing767
Took the family (wife and 5-year-old) to D.C. for a three-day trip. Couldn't have asked for more.
Checked in at 2:00 PM after 12-hour flight. Ordered food from a service advertised that stops at any of several different restaurants, and settled into our comfy room. Put leftovers in full-size refrig, and munched on them as we dozed in and out of sleep (jetlag). Staff was attentive, and amenities exceptional. Breakfast was very good all three days, and the only weeknight we were there (dinner only served on weeknights) found stuffed bellpeppers, green beans and a salad bar.
If I could change one thing, it would be the doors that separate the living room from the bedroom - they don't have regular handles. They snap shut like cabinet doors and thus, are very noisy. If we went out to the front room at night to get food/beverage, the noise would wake up our son sleeping on the sofabed.
Housekeeping staff was OUTSTANDING. Not only efficient, but friendly as well.
I would definitely return.
