Top Local Tips for Washington DC
Great Restaurant Try Thaiphoon for dinner, a great Thai restaurant a couple of blocks from the hotel.
Old Post Office When visiting DC find the Old Post Office. This is an overlooked gem. Located just off the mall on Pennsylvania Ave. With unique one-of-a-kind Baroque syle architecture and a tower from which you can go up in and see a 360 degree view of Washington DC (the second best place to the Washington Monument and less crowded) you will enjoy. Also, visit the Library of Congress. Great architecture, interesting tour, less travelled and if you have time get a library card and browse this famous institution. If you can, attend a church service at the National Cathedral on Sunday. Another great spot sometimes overlooked. There is no subway service to the Cathedral, only bus.
Good stuff around the Hilton There is a little sandwich place across the street from the hotel (the side with the canopy - south, I believe) that is great for a quick, cheap lunch or breakfast. There is a grocery store around the corner from this place (away from Connecticut Avenue and south). Take the Metro as much as you can - it is inexpensive, Clean, and SAFE!!

Lack of amenities - no fridge. no continental breakfast - very disappointing. It is close to downtown, walking distance from White House. Unless your at this hotel for a conference or have to swim in an outdoor lap pool, would not recommend staying here.
